I'm old school, I still love Texas rigged Berkeley Power Worms and fat curly tail grubs on a jig head. I know the wacky rig Senko is the best overall soft plastic bait /style but it's not nearly as weedless as Texas rig and I can't launch it far like I can a grub on a 1/4 or 3/8 jig. The tail of the Power Worm and curly grub has great action even at slow speed. Old school lures still get the job done. I will say the absolute best lure I've ever used is something that came out decades ago and in fact was the inspiration for the Senko. The original soft stickbait, the Slug-Go.
Good video. One bait you left out that I see a lot of PROs tie on is thw Zoom 7 inch June Bug. It is in my tackle and brings in a lot of bass. I fish it Texas style. 11 and half pounder.
You are right about color not being that bigof a deal. CONTRAST is more important. Some fish like Walleye, Bass and pike do not see all the colors like we do. And red disappears deeper than about 30 feet. It just looks grey deeper than that. There is a lot to it and far too much to put here.
Black finesse worm with chartreuse tip. Clear/smoke silver fleck craw texas rig.....know a bunch of guys that compete and these are tough day secret lures......and tubes....
Your list is “dead on”. I officiate pro tournaments and virtually all pro have these baits in the small day bait box on deck. The only one I will add is the jack hammer chatter bait frequently has a Yamamoto Zako as trailer
What you are not telling your readers, is the modifications we make, like:- hook placement, hook size, additional weight (internal or external), line type, line test, rod type, reel speed, water depth, water clarity……
LOVED this. I know this may seem like a contradiction but more of this kind of video would be great. Maybe more narrowing down on lures but maybe more simplification strategies on gear? Techniques? Man, this kind of fishing is like grad school. With all due respect, when I heard about a $200 lure at a recent outdoor show, I cringed.
Is there a color that you would recommend for all water colors or situations. Basically, if you could only have one color in the boat, what would it be? Thanks again buddy for all the information.
white. easy to see in clear and dark condition. bone white IMO is the best- even when I'm fishing around schooling perch, the bass will still bite a bright white minnow.
@@TylerBrinks I tend to fish spinnerbaits more because it's just hard for me to keep it down in the water column. I should probably put a combo together with a 6:4.1 ratio for throwing chatters.
Any kind of worm will get multi species. Caught a little 3 1/2” Red breast on a 5” senko and a 6/0 Texas rig offset worm hook. Made for a hilarious picture.
I found the Jacks on sale during the off season and just started building my vibrating jig box. I also scour the shoreline during fishing expeditions or on the drawdowns and have found like 7-9 vibrating jigs; a few Jacks too! I take them home and repair them. As far as losing them, I only have lost like 2 or 3 and got back 1 of those when the drawdown occurred.
I mean they're all good lure choices, but common, everyone and their mother talks about EVERY one of these baits... I get the title gets views to a degree, but man what a shame this is where we're devolving too :(
@@TylerBrinks you know what man, I genuinely really like your positive response when many would have roasted my shit for saying what I did, new sub well earned friend!! 🎣🤙

If the pros aren't talking, maybe they want to keep them secret. So why are you running your mouth and ruining it for them? Sad when people have no respect for others.

Appreciate that! Thanks for watching, I'm posting three a week and primarily all on tackle!

Grest video and I will have to go shopping and get some of these. Thanks for sharing this with us!

good point and I agree. Shades and contrast are the main thing and light vs dark.

yep, Zako is a popular one too
Good stuff Tyler, thanks for the content and insights.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Great content. Any recommendations for alternatives to the Damiki Armor Shad? TW and my local bass pro are both sold out of the 3in.
The Strike King Baby Z Too is another good optio

Like @krispyk.1786 said, white is good. White and black both show up great in all waters and solid colors can be great
Yamamoto hula grub and black beetle spin
YES!
The armor shad was the most surprising to me. What color vision 110 were you showing in the video, out of curiosity?
Can’t remember I’m bad about color names!
Curious what brand of spinnerbait gets thrown. I use Strike King and War Eagle almost all the time.
Not many actually! Most use the jackhammer instead. But, have seen the Booyah Covert, War Eagle, and Berkley ones

Good call with the slower reel. Smaller trailers, lighter line and a 3/4oz chatter would help with that too.
■■■...just an idea: perhaps film the lures separately on a table top or something, then simply talk over the video.
Thanks and thanks for watching, Bob!

I would’ve thought a zoom fluke/mag fluke would be on there. Also, Keitech tungsten jigs.
Oh they use ‘em, just haven’t seen many pop up in Top 10s.
How are they rigging the Roboworm?
Primarily Texas rigged with a Rebarb style hook. Owner Cover Shot and Gamakatsu with tin keeper are two popular ones
Roboworm catches a lot more than just spotted bass
Any kind of worm will get multi species.

For sure! Been using Robos for years
Thanks.
Manns make good worms to i like the 12 inch worms catches fish to big ones.
Good stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video
Thanks for sharing.
You bet
Pretty accurate
Yep and a few more I thought of since then!
good stud to have on your boat.
Hey, how bout the frog they are all throwing, or is it just the Spro?
Doesn’t get many Top 10s honestly but Spro is popular but there are a lot of good ones they use like the Strike King and livetarget.
Thanks T@@TylerBrinks
Does anyone ever throw a spinnerbait anymore? 😂
The big bass on my lake tournament two years in a row was on a jackhammer.
Alton Jones Jr. won the MLF Heavy Hitters with one last year but that's the only recent big tournament win I can think of
Too bad the Jackhammer costs $16 and the Mega bass 110 is $26. $8 for the bag of Senkos is bad enough.
Try the ChatterBait EVO, it's half as much and I've been catching a bunch on it.
