Clarke Griffin was such a great character and her story was so complex. She took it upon herself to save and protect her people, those she loved. And it took a toll. By the time we get to season 7, she’s barely hanging but as always, still trying to save her people. I’m so sad about the ending they gave her, she deserved better.

Season 1 to 4 Clarke was one of my favorites. She might not have always made the right choice, but she actively tried to look out for everyone's best interests. She looked for a way to cooperate with Anya despite knowing virtually nothing about Grounder culture and tried to peacefully resolve many situations. She didn't always succeed, but the important thing was that she tried. She was definitely the calm, rational one, but she had enough empathy to humanize and sympathize with. I didn't always agree with the choices she made, but she was looking at the big picture and her logic was, more often than not, sound. Season 5 to 7 Clarke though.... I absolutely HATED. Everything she does is in the name of protecting Madi, but the longer that goes on the more it seems like an excuse. Madi is her own person, and Clarke never seems to grasp that concept. Madi isn't a thing. She lets Raven get tortured, Bellamy and Octavia get ambushed, and eventually kills Bellamy to "protect" Madi when she doesn't need it. In the end, she kills Cadogan out of revenge. She kills him to make herself feel better, not because it's what Madi would've wanted. She kills Bellamy because, well, I still don't really know or understand why. Maybe she believes he's beyond saving, but who said he needed to be saved? And he ends up being right in the end, so she killed her best friend and closest confidant for absolutely nothing. Season 1 to 4 Clarke served the people. Season 5 to 7 Clarke served her own self interest and framed it as serving the people.
I think that you misunderstood her reasons,,, I support Clarke all the time,, at least Raven understood her at the end of the show,,she gave her soul for her friends and many times she was ready to give her life for them,,, how many people you know like her ,,, I don’t know anyone.
