Finally, a review on the single motor. I ordered the core single motor. I could only test drive the twin motors as they were the only variant available. They are fun especially the acceleration but unnecessary power especially for City driving.

Hi Derek... thank you for the review.
My wife and myself went into a Volvo dealer here in Sydney today, just to have a look at a C40 and came away owners of the showroom demo model - which only had a few hundred kms on it.
We saved a considerable amount over the cost of a new one but I did immediately start worrying about the power of the single motor vs the dual motor version. The salesman did give us a demo of 'putting the boot down' and I thought it was very good, easily matching our Golf 2.0 TDi. He reckoned the C40 single motor was plenty quick enough and thought it would be similar to a Golf GTi. After watching your review I'm now happy and can't wait to pick up the car next weekend. I'm not even that sure why anyone would want to go from 0-60 in 4.secs anyway! Thanks again.

Glad to be able to help. I think the dual motor is maybe only for the hardcore speed demons and those on the Autobahns with unrestrained speeds. The battery would shoot down too at those high numbers. Best of luck next weekend

Hi Derek, love the design of the recharge Volvos. The single motor is fine for me😃😃

I testdrove the c40 today and it had the twin, holy crap you get sucked back into the seat. Love it.
However... it's hard to justify the price jump to twin motors so I'll likely go for the single one. Hopefully, the feeling you get from the acceleration remains on the single motor.

Thanks for the comment. It's not quite as quick but still very accomplished. If you get a test drive for the single motor, let me know

@@NevoEVReviewIreland my local dealer only got 1 variant which is top spec c40 but hopefully it’s good enough, likely better than coming from my diesel suv.
According to the rep it would likely be mostly noticeable in high speed on the highway

Would have to compare with ionic5 ev6 etc. These have more space.
Will have to see on the flesh.
    Another good vid
    Thanks

Thanks Derek. Does it still have ambient lighting with the new 'Gothenburg' inlay? Picking up Ultimate trim next week.

Yea it does! I tried waiting until my carpark lights went off to record it but they lasted way longer than I was willing to wait 🤣

Collected last week. Love it. No ambient/mood lighting on the 2023 Ultimates trim though. Pity.

I had the same doubt about both variants. Here in Spain with the aid for electric vehicles, the C40 (or XC40 which is similar in price, €1,000 less, but does not have the Pixel Leds and you have to order them as an extra) is around €44,000 and the twin-engine €50,000. It's a nice difference to jump to the other variant. Thanks for your help!

Hi Derek, have you ever done a video or come across a good one about the best home charger to get in the Irish market? Currently looking and finding it tricky to compare all the options!
