They actually managed to make Hwei pretty simple to play. QQ-EQ QW-EW QE-EE have perfect synergy, and the W skills are basically speed-shield-mana and that you can choose. His stats are pretty high currently and so are his mana costs, but other than that this champion's complexity is mostly going to come from deciding on which skill to use instead of having intricate combos.
I agree, aphelios is hard because of his precise combos with auto attacks, this champ will be much more forgiving beacuse spells are easier to land than auto attacks

I feel like this champion definitely captures the essence of being an artist. Ive watched zwag play him and you can tell that everyone will play him in their own way just like they are making art lol.

this update actually has me hyped, i only started playing this season and i'm happy to see that they're actually changing quite a lot
playing league till 2019 and i m glad it changed after that much time
Played since season 2 and stopped when they introduced mythic shits it ruined the fun

Dude I am so excited for this champ. It’s exactly what I like in a complex champ (unlike Aphelios) and I think he’s going to dominate in support. It just feels like there are so many ways you could build him!

I love that you and Zwag play this champ so differently... it's a sign of good design. People are comparing him to Aphelios but I don't understand how to play Aphelios at all and Hwei seems really straightforward to me by comparison. His torment abilities probably need a damage nerf.
Seeing how the abilities is grouped makes the easier to remember.
The start groups the use of the abilities: Q start is for damage, W start is for utility and E start is for CC.
The end groups the targeting inputs: Q end is for directional skillshots, W end if for locational AoE and E end is for setup.
Yeah they even put cd on each group
So u can only cast one spell from each group, like why even bother cast different spell on each group beside the best spell?
I like that they put the stopwatch ability on seekers and took it out of runes. It is a cool ability but it was getting abused by everyone

idk if you've realized yet but you've been heavily under utilizing your we. It doesnt only empower your autos but also empowers your abilities so any time you're trying to do damage with q or e you can use it for essentially like 300 extra damage (early at least)
WE before a QQ and/or EE/EQ is really nice. Don't sleep on the WE, it doesn't just work on autos, it works and empowers abilities too. My fav all-in burst combo is WE + R + EE + QQ

He looks like hed be a pretty good support, like his E selection and W selection gove a lot of utility and control/ disengage.

Hwei with champions that have large area cc and pulls will be op. Think champions like Diana, Rell, Nilah, Amumu, etc.
because of his EQ i think he will also set up for skill shot adcs very well. Truthfully he will play into any comp amazingly.@@dischord4671

this is gonna sound really weird but, comet miss fortune, with liandry, and the straight to kraken after liandry, and then bork, you win hard early game with lost chapter/liandry and comet, cheap shot, scorch, ignite, and later u poke enemies down with one or two e, and then can execute them by simply hitting q once and doing two auto attacks procing the kraken (which has 60% ap scaling), and proc bork burst passive, and then you can keep doing dps too just like a normal carry, and it is just gross, and you still have good ultimate damage too
Tip for the R to land easier, just use an ability that slows or ccs before ulting

At 31:53 that enemy red ward, was it revield by your ability you casted into the bush or did you walk close enough to reveal it? Point: douse that ability give vision to enemy champs in bush or wards, just wards or no vision.
From what I’ve seen with playing him a bit, QE seems to be insanesly strong especially with Landrys

This might sound weird, but he reminds me of Twisted Fate (minus the teleport). TF’s W has three unique tools, but you can’t have them all at once. You get one by pressing W then W again.Hwei feels like taking that concept but expanding it.
Although I like the champ i feel like people are gonna just use some abilities and not all of them because u won't really need to. Great vid!❤

Yea QE is my go too aswell. So far though they have done a good job. He is very easy to play considering, they grouped the skills nicely.
Riot August actually acknowledged this and said it was expected, he thinks it is a normal part of the learning curve for him
Buddy and I ALWAYS complain they remade Galio and never gave his wind-tunnel-speed-up to any one else, was a mechanic that was sorely missed. Glad they finally gave it to someone.

I honestly keep laughing at how he panics and constantly throws the movement speed boost at enemies instead of using the fire wave or any other damaging spell. All the panic whiffs are hilarious

what is frustrating about it is that in his kit he literally has everything that the other supports have. Like the fact he even gets swain w is so insane to me. XD He power creeps every support out rn.

This is horrible in my opinion. Riot finally promised us an immobile mage again and now he will have to be balanced around botlane. I fear we will never see him viable in midlane at all.

QQ is burst, QW is execute. EE is burst and CC good set up for ult or QQ. E Fear is good set up for Ult or QQ too. Liche Bane might be nice to weave in some autos bc he has so much CC and Q spells are low cold down. Plus with your marking passive the combo: EE > auto > R > auto > QQ > auto could one 100 to 0 the opp carry quickly then you can still QW or W speed up for opp when they flash away or put down W shield and QE zone if they turn on you. This champ is OP
played alot of rpg and mmo mages and elematalist. I like his character was very inspired to use multi buttons like other games for a talent or class. Reminds me alot of different type of aoe mages in other games im really excited to try him :D as a fellow artists im super excited even more so :D I love Neeko she came with winter theme also, happy he also has this winter blessed theme as its like him making a winter canvas :D i main support but i like mages so im excited for him :D

I'm noticing that they took his thematic of inspiration and have seemingly applied it to all of his basic abilities. Lorewise, he was inspired by Jhin, as a sorta counter to him (beauty in life rather than death). I don't think it's a coincidence that he has probably the most champion interactions and his abilities look like theirs as well.
QQ is Karma Q
QW is Veigar/Xerath W
QE is Braum ult
WQ is Kled ult
WW is Galio ult shield AoE
WE is Nami E
EQ is Vex's Q with charged passive
EW is like a hybrid between Swain's W and Maokai's W
EE is Malzahar Q
Ult is his most unique ability, which makes sense as I believe it's less fueled by his art and inspiration and is more the power of the Demon of Despair.
I think belveth is gonna be op cause of the minion spawn with the extra epic jungle monster

I think he allows for a new role: jungle support. He has enough damage to clear camps but instead of ganking for kills you can gank for saving laners. I would love to see you try this, since you did the jungle climb and of course are GSA. what do you think?
