Woo Hoo!!! Thanks so much!!! This ol' gal just changed her headlight bulb and saved a bunch money and upped her confidence!!! I didn't catch your name...Joe??...but you are awesome!!! Such clear instructions and pleasant demeanor..Thanks again!!
Thank you so much. Took a look this morning and didn't think I had enough room to do it. it's -32C today. To make room, I removed the battery and your demonstration helped incredibly. Even with trips into the house to warm tools and parts, it took less than half an hour. The dealer told me 1 hour and they wouldn't use the lamp I bought from CTC.
That was an awesome help! I'm not useless around vehicles and mechanics, but it took three years for me to blow my first headlight on my 2010 Tacoma. As Mark E. said, I thought I was going to break something if I pulled too hard on that boot, but your vid reassured me that I could exert all of the brute force necessary. Thanks much!
Female here too. I'm going to change mine. With your instructions it will be easy. Been driving this Toyota for 21 years and getting where I can't see at night. Now the the light will be on the road now. Thanks.💫🛻
The tip about not touching the bulb is valuable and helpful. The reason the driver's side process was not shown is because there is not just less space to work with, you need to unbolt the washer fluid tank to get your hand in there. All in all a great video, a time saver, and a definite MONEY saver. Thank You!
I think you mean the PASSENGER SIDE was not shown; it’s very tight and the clip came out when I unclipped it. I will unbolt the washer to be able to out in the new bulb, attach clip and rubber seal. Thanks for that tip!
I'm 70 yrs. old.. Major Arthritis in my wrists/hands from working, today while I was in town,I noticed my Passenger side headlight was out.on my 2004 Tacoma , Having a pair of bulbs that were good at home I started to "Fix" this "EASY" task ! HA ! Someone a long time ago must have pushed the electrical connector far onto the light bulb, I figured this was how the setup was supposed to be ! Living in Washington state, go figure... it's Raining Very Hard and trying to figure out about that attachment spring that kept falling off, trying to figure about the rubber boot placement... Joe... if it wasn't for YOUR FANTASTIC Video... I NEVER would have got the job done ! It's 11:30 pm...I'm Soaking WET... BUT !!! SUCCESS Joe !!! KUDOS and MANY MANY GREAT THANK YOU's For your FANTASTIC EASY to Learn Video !!! I Could NOT have Accomplished this without breaking something or paying Big Bucks to some garage guy ! OK... Today is December 30,2020 at 11:30 PM... HAPPY NEW YEAR JOE !!! BEST WISHES TO YOU FOR 2021 !!!! .... U DA MAN !!! .. I "LIKED & Subscribed" !!
Hey, I'm a diesel mechanic, and was stumped by the boot on my tacoma. I was unsure of the rubber boot deal....anyways, THANKS MAN. Saved me alot of time. YOU ROCK.
Jordan my dude, my dad was replacing my headlight and the wire arm holding the bulb popped out, was able to help him get it back on with the help of your video-thanks so much!!!
Super helpful. I looked under the hood and saw the connector and the boot and the edge of some kind of clip. Your video explained everything perfectly and I went down to the garage and had it changed in about 2 minutes. Thanks again.
Same steps for my Highlander. First the boot seemed 'frozen' to the bulb, wasn't sure how it separated and then that pesky little spring wire. Simple to do when you see how, Thanks!
Like Mark E, I tugged at the rubber boot but I was concerned about breaking something, Your video has saved me a lot of time and effort. Good presentation. Thanks
thank you. great video. i just changed both bulbs. 2013 tacoma. i did have to unbolt the windshield wiper fluid reservoir to get clearance (passenger side), but did not have to move the battery (drivers side). I also used bulb grease on the prongs (no idea if that actually makes a difference). the whole thing took me 10 minutes with your video. thank you!
Thanks for the info. I used to go and buy the illustrated repair manual everytime I got a different vehicle. But with you guys on youtube I don't gotta add to my library no more lol. Thanks again !!
Thanks for making this video. I had to replace one of the bulbs in my '04 Tacoma when it was super cold out. I was in no mood for figuring out get the old bulb out of the spring clip. Your video was clear and showed me how to do it.
Thanks for this. I would mention that if the boot has been on there a long time, you'll need to use pliers on the boot tabs to loosen ot enough to pull off. Thanks again!
Thanks so much! You helped me look like a badass in front of my hubby. Went out to my truck and took care of business :D You are the best!!! Thank you, thank you
Excellent video Fixbook dood ! Really helped a knuckle dragger like me when I tried taking the front lamp cover off first and realized ...Uhh...this might not be the way to get started ? !....So props to you El Capi'tan !
Excellent video - thank you! $12 + 10 minutes = cool fix! I suggest wearing gloves, as the guy at the store said the oil in our skin can still cause these bulbs to burn out (like with projector bulbs). We did use a couple of tools to help free things up, as this was the first headlight change in 8 years. The whole process went well.
Great video, I just changed both my headlight bulbs. The passenger side is a pain the ass, lol. I ended up loosening up my windshield washer fluid tank to get a little more room and that helped me out a lot. Because the spring clip came off and I couldn’t see how it went back in with out moving the washer fluid tank so I could see from behind where the tank was mounted. I got it all done though and both headlights are working, so thanks for the great video.
Hey it worked, the advise about the rubber boot was great, also to not touch the bulb it self was very good, same principle applies for changing an igniter on a natural gas furnace.
Hi, I knew that changing out the bulb could not be too difficult but I to was stumped by that boot I pulled on it but thought I'd break something. Now I see I just have to pull a little harder. Thanks for a good clear video.
Thanks for doing this video. Of all the vehicles I've ever owned, the Taco was the first headlight bulb change that caused me to scratch my head. Even my Audi is easier.
Easy job to do, but you added some easily overlooked details: the wide tab at the top when reinserting bulb, making sure the rubber seals against the bulb housing, and not touching the bulb with your fingers. Good video!
Thanks for making this. It helped me to not destroy those rubber boots by accident. Just for other people's knowlwdge, this also works the same for Highlanders model year 08 +.
Just changed mine. Thanks for the tip. I just wanted to add that the guy at the auto parts store suggested I used gloves. I've read other people say the same thing on Internet forums, not only to not smudge the bulb but because the grease on your fingers can short the contacts. I'm not sure if this is true or not. I just washed my hands before replacing the bulb instead of using gloves.
Very nice video. Your explanation is clear and concise. Bet the dealers hate guys like you, showing everyone how easy this is rather than paying them a $100 to do it.
Easy fix with your help! I was surprised that the metal clip goes on the same direction on the passenger side rather than being reversed like I thought it would be. Thank you for the great video!!
Thank you VERY much. First time I've had to change bulbs in my Tacoma and the assembly didn't look anything like my other vehicles. I am really grateful to live in an age when the middle class has a medium to share our knowledge and is willing to do so for free. If you respond to thia comment with your charity of choice I will donate the $75 you probably just saved me so that we are mutually helping out the next guy.
December 2, 2021: 6:44pm. Riverside, Ca. Thank you. Both of my headlights are out now as I'm getting ready to drive to the auto parts store in the dark.
Great ...!!! Thank you....only hang up I had was one of the rubber boots was stuck on the bulb. Had to take them out together and work them apart...after that, simple!!!
Thanks! That was really helpful. I had to do the passenger side, where there's no space, so I couldn't really see what I was doing, so this was great. My laptop's all greasy, but I've got two working headlights again!
Thanks for the good info. Before I watched this I had trouble separating the bulb from the rubber boot - thought it was "bonded" to the bulb ! In the process of removing the bulb from the headlight housing you have to free it from the little spring clip. In my case, working that release broke the retaining tab on the plastic headlight housing, which had gotten brittle i suspect from heat cycling. Guess I will glue the new bulb to the headlight housing and next time replace the housing. My Tacoma is a 2011 and I notice there is a haze forming on the plastic outer lens of the headlight.
Thanks great tutorial just a little adder for the passenger side bulb just remove 2- 10mm bolts on the washer fluid bottle and unplug the wiring harness. Then you have lots of room to work on that bulb.
I am a big fan of Toyota and I do love my 05 Taco TRD, but there is a small tanto for the engineer that thought that was a quality way to hold in a light buld
Changed a headlight right outside a Napa Auto Parts store last night while watching this on my phone. Thanks man! You rock.
Woo Hoo!!! Thanks so much!!! This ol' gal just changed her headlight bulb and saved a bunch money and upped her confidence!!! I didn't catch your name...Joe??...but you are awesome!!! Such clear instructions and pleasant demeanor..Thanks again!!
You can save a ton more by switching to Geico.
Thanks man. Thanks to your video, it only took me about 5 minutes. RUclips is the best source for do-it-yourself projects.
Thanks for the clear, easy to follow instructional video. Took me less than three minutes to change my headlight using your tutorial!
Thank you so much. Took a look this morning and didn't think I had enough room to do it. it's -32C today. To make room, I removed the battery and your demonstration helped incredibly. When the spring falls out, good luck getting that back in place
Had tjat happen. Worst day of my fucking life lol
That clip is a terrible engineering design, frustrating as hell

Hey, I'm a diesel mechanic, and was stumped by the boot on my tacoma. I was unsure of the rubber boot deal....anyways, THANKS MAN. Saved me alot of time. YOU ROCK.
Jordan my dude, my dad was replacing my headlight and the wire arm holding the bulb popped out, was able to help him get it back on with the help of your video-thanks so much!!!
Perfect! Took less than a minute. Gas Station wanted $55. Part cost $15. Made $40 bucks in a minute. Thanks!
Super helpful. I looked under the hood and saw the connector and the boot and the edge of some kind of clip. Your video explained everything perfectly and I went down to the garage and had it changed in about 2 minutes. Thanks again.
Thanks to you I just changed my bulb in 1 minute, much appreciated.
Found this post and with your help I got my bulb switched out no problem. Thanks for this video!
After seeing this video I went and bought the light and changed it out in about 5 minutes. Thanks very helpful
Same steps for my Highlander. First the boot seemed 'frozen' to the bulb, wasn't sure how it separated and then that pesky little spring wire. Simple to do when you see how, Thanks!
+david barker What year Highlander?
It's a 2010 and halogen headlights of course.
Like Mark E, I tugged at the rubber boot but I was concerned about breaking something, Your video has saved me a lot of time and effort. Good presentation. Thanks

Thanks for the great video. No fluff - straight to the point and easy to follow.
Thanks for the video, watched this and went to my truck and replaced the bulbs as shown, made the job much easier.

Thank you for such an important video for tacoma owners. Finishing up changing bulbs for my tacoma today
excellent video for those of us who have no clue about cars. thanks so much.
Probably the best video on the internet. Thanks
Good post. Very simple, not too long winded. Didn't know that about the oil on the bulb. I probably would've touched the bulb. Nice job.
Excellent video Fixbook dood ! Really helped a knuckle dragger like me when I tried taking the front lamp cover off first and realized ...Uhh...this might not be the way to get started ? !....So props to you El Capi'tan !

Just a note good tips took 3 minutes good tip keep the hole on the bottom between the two bulb tabs. Tnx

THANKS!!...just discovered one headlight out and will be driving at night a lot over the next week or so....
Easy job to do, but you added some easily overlooked details: the wide tab at the top when reinserting bulb, making sure the rubber seals against the bulb housing, and not touching the bulb with your fingers. Good video!
Thanks for this, it was big help. I had to move the windshield washer fluid reservoir to make room. But it worked fine! Thanks again.
Thanks for making this. It helped me to not destroy those rubber boots by accident.
Just for other people's knowlwdge, this also works the same for Highlanders model year 08 +.
Nice, just swapped out both of mine in under 10 minutes, thanks to your video. Thanks for making it!
Thanks so much,i screwed up when the bulb clip came out and the video solved my problem.
+Bill Green The concern is any oil on the bulb may create hot spot and shorten the life.. true or not, I do not know
Thank you for the video. I was able to change the bulb in no time at all.
Outstanding video. very clear ,concise and to the point, you should seriously consider teaching Automotive repair .
Thank you for the great video!!
thanks you saved me a lot of work. I was going to take out the battery and windshield washer fluid reservoir. the video was great. 👍
Thanks again for the video it's awesome! I have to watch it for a refresher every couple years when my lights go out lol
Thanks for this great video. It really helps because of tbe way you present the information : to the point and very clear, easy to understand.
Thank you VERY much. First time I've had to change bulbs in my Tacoma and the assembly didn't look anything like my other vehicles. I am really grateful to live in an age when the middle class has a medium to share our knowledge and is willing to do so for free.

Clear and straightforward. Thanks boys.
Thanks for helping me out with this, bro. You're the real MVP
Thanks for this video. It was super simple, straight to the point and you had a good angle with the camera.
Few years late but definitely worked for me. Thank you
Once again... This video saved the day! My other headlight went out! THANK YOU!
great job Jordan, should've said DON'T let the spring fall out! The first time took me way longer than I thought, today was less than 10 mins.
Thank you! I will be changing my bulb tonight. Great, clear and concise video:)))
Watched your video before attempting. Made the task so easy. Thanks man!
December 2, 2021: 6:44pm. Riverside, Ca. Thank you. Both of my headlights are out now as I'm getting ready to drive to the auto parts store in the dark.
You are the MAN!
Just saved me $65 bucks!
this was way simpler than I was expecting, awesome info dude thanks !
Great video. You've helped me out with a lot of great Tacoma do-it-yourself videos.
Thank you for the very clear instructions, I was too lazy to move the battery
Thanks man!!! I was about to start taking apart the "shell" itself. lol.
Saved me some time! thanks again.
Thank you so much for this video!! I changed it out without a problem.
Great ...!!! Thank you....only hang up I had was one of the rubber boots was stuck on the bulb. Had to take them out together and work them apart...after that, simple!!!
thx, dude. I was about to tear the whole dang assembly apart and thought "well lemme check utube, 1st'. done in like 5 mins. thx, again, man.
Just noticed I have a bulb out tonight, looks like an easy fix, thanks for the vid.
Really clear & simple tutorial. Thanks
Good work, I did this yesterday (without your video help) but figured it out fairly easily. Thanks
Clear, clean, and concise! Nicely done.
Really great simple video. Just what amateurs like myself need. Thank you.
Thanks! That was really helpful. I had to do the passenger side, where there's no space, so I couldn't really see what I was doing, so this was great. My laptop's all greasy, but I've got two working headlights again!
Thanks, Great tip about not touching the light bulb its self.
Another old lady you helped out! I replaced my Tacoma's headlight bulb in ~ 5 minutes! I couldn't believe it worked! I couldn't stop laughing!
Worked perfectly. Thanks!

Thanks for making this posting
Solar system for kids
I am a big fan of Toyota and I do love my 05 Taco TRD, but there is a small tanto for the engineer that thought that was a quality way to hold in a light buld
Thank you so much for the close up of that spring!! It was the 1 thing I was struggling with on my 00 4runner!
Thanks for this video, I was able to change it out in 5 minutes or less.
Thank you! Piece of cake! I had to check this out first to know what I was getting myself into.
Excellent how-to! Would have had to fight this bulb replacement without these tips. Thanks!
Great video. Very clear and thanks for the tip at the end. Best one I've seen.
Thanks. I just changed mine and your video helped a lot.
This just saved me a lot of time and fumbling. Thanks!
First time changing mine out and he made it seem so simple and it was!
Excellent video. Good camera and lighting so we can clearly see what's going on, unlike many DIY videos I see.
Very clear, concise, and helpful.. Thanks!
