When you know that the main characters don't die but nonetheless you feel sad and emotional, then you know the game has done an amazing job with this scene.
6 years later, not sure if you're even alive darksin, but the same happened to me. Finished it today for the first time, and even tho I knew they'd make it out, I still felt like crying. Such a good game
@@nerdorama009 I was really worried... I played a blind run and forgot about ragnard... I was devastated when the Ariselle and Bobcat weren't going to help...
First time I thought that it was the end of the road. A sweet but really sad end (then Cassius finally show himself with his dragon pal). I would have been okay with this end. Sad, but okay as it was really beautiful.
This game was so good. Wished more people were into the Trails Series. The ending would make you cry (especially on a blind playthrough). I sure as hell teared up when it happened.
This was a game-changing moment. The scene changed my opinion on game story-telling. This was the turning point where I considered video game can hit you badly. It was utterly epic; it was grand scale but not as grand as the ultimate scheme of the "bad guys." We can only hope that we could be as satisfied as Estelle and Joshua at this moment.
@@kokokoku4281 Same here bro :( I recommended this to my friends too but they're not into playing the game cuz they can't stand the old character model and FC's slow start bores them.
ill never forget not being able to take this scene too seriously knowing there was no way joshua and estelle were going to die only for the pillar to actually collapse and hearing the most heart wrenching piano ive heard in my life set in and suddenly im losing my shit
Every time I listen to this music, I remember that epic and certainly emotional ending of the game, full with feelings and sensations .I think this game has one of the best endings ever. Each character has the perfect ending for them. Even Loewe (especially Loewe). Liber Ark crumbling and Joshua and Estelle falling... That was too much for my feelings :( And then we have that final scene, with that music, and then the credits, with the amazing I Swear... and the post-credits scene, which was a fantastic closure for Joshua and Estelle's story.
Finished the game for the first time last week, and man this song playing was perfect. Kinda a shame you can't hear most of it tho with the crashing of the city lol. Stellar game
I already knew what was gonna happen to Estelle and Joshua cause I saw them in the cover of 3rd. But my heart at that scene couldn't help it, my chest tightened. And with the music accompanying it, I couldn't help but agree that this has to be one of the greatest scenes that has been made. It's hard to overcome, but if there's anyone who can, it's you, Falcom.
These games were truly amazing. I remember how I saw the cold steel series first and wanted to start there however upon some research i saw people recommending the sky series instead. That was the single best advice I decided to listen because while cold steel weren't bad, I don't think they would have made me justify playing through 8 games ( sky 1st till cold steel 3). The sky trilogy will forever be within the games i will treasure
It’s been so long since I’ve played the Trails in the Sky arc, and yet I cry every single time I hear this. Trails in the Sky SC has the best ending out of all trails games in my opinion!
I remember watching the Liber Arc crumbling, the pieces falling ...During the entire scene I only thought, somewhere, amidst this debris, are Estelle and Joshua T.T
This scene. T-T SPOILER Seeing them both just kind of give up any hope of surviving and just wanting to spend the last moment with each other was incredibly moving. Especially right at the end of the game like this. I knew nothing would happen to them since there's a third game, but that didn't in any way diminish the impact that scene had on me. This game's a masterpiece in storytelling and character development. It's just a shame so many people won't be able to experience it because they aren't patient enough and can't handle that it's so much text and the gameplay is kinda slow.
I knew beforehand that they weren't gonna die there for sure yet I still couldn't hold the tear the very moment this track starts playing. Not just because it was sad, the whole sequence was just too wonderfully executed.
it made me smile like an idiot seeing Cassius after that point. Knowing what hes lost throughout the story knowing his children put so much on the line there was no way in hell he was letting them go out like that. He might have lost his wife but there was no chance he was going to lose his daughter and his adopted son.
People who had played the game before the third was even a thing had the best experience with this scene.....even then though I think the scene does a great job whether you know they would survive or not.
There's a different meaning for the song if you try to understand the song by the start of the game and at the end of the game Spoiler Alert! At first the song was sounded as Estelle determination to find Joshua, while unraveling the mysteries and the secrets encircling around them, hoping to find him and bringing him to home.... At the end, as the title says, its a song of Joshua, as he realized that he need to protect his shining princess, albeit Estelle could stand as her own, he needs her, she is his preciousness, as she is his revelation, his "Shine of Aidios", and in the end, he realized that the best way to protect her, is by standing with her, together. God, i cried after finishing the game, there's so much feels in this game, kinda regret it not playing it after my friend recommending it
They both need the other. Estelle Heart might break without him (even if it was for a short notice, she did hesitate when Ouroboros propose her a place as an enforcer) and Joshua's heart is dead without her.
This scene did not hit me until about a half hour after I quit the game. When it did, it hit HARD. I struggled to get through work the next day free from those emotions. The only image I think the game was lacking, which my imagination mercilessly filled in, is a shot of the two of them spinning together falling through the sky, amidst colossal pieces of rubble, with satisfied and unafraid smiles on their faces. Hell, I'd pay good money to commission an artist for that. "You know, it's really funny. Despite how COMPLETELY SCREWED we are, I'm not actually scared."
This scene was an absolute masterpiece to see unfold. I am sincerely saddened that I am finished with this game. There is not experience quite like it and I'm quite honestly terrified to play Cold Steel now. Don't know how it could possibly live up to this.
+Charles Ponthier I agree; I immediately teared up as this track started playing when I first get to that scene. That whole sequence was just too beautifully executed. Nothing ever made me feel this emotional for years and I also doubt that there's many game can come close this level. Still there's no reason for you to not want to play Cold Steel, while I do think it is not as good as TitS in term of writing and characters over all, it is still an excellent game on it own and still retains the similar charms TitS has, namely the rich world building with a lot of attention in details. Besides that since you have already played the game, you probably know how much works and effort among with love being putted into the game's release so English-only audiences could be able to experience it in the first place so you should support them as much as you can. The more supports they get, the more likely we will be able to see other entries in this wonderful franchise coming to the West.
+TS N Oh yeah don't worry, I am all over Cold Steel right now. I had been sitting on the Lionheart edition already and was just waiting to finish SC before really getting into it. I'm only on chapter 2 but I am enjoying it enough. At first it was a little jarring because the game looked so different I couldn't get the feeling it was in the same world. But as I've played more I realized that this is most certainly in the same continent of Zemuria I grew to love over the course of my 120 hours with Sky. My main concern before starting Cold Steel was the school setting. I was worried that would give the story an excuse to stagnate and prevent the amazing world building Sky has. In fact, Nick over at XSEED addressed all of my concerns about said setting in the first localization blog. xseedgames.tumblr.com/post/133221080530/the-legend-of-heroes-trails-of-cold-steel I've realized now, though, that those worries may be put to rest. There world building I grew to love in Sky is still very much there along with loveable NPC's that have their own lives you can follow. School anime tropes are there but few between and are actually executed well when they are. I am very much going to enjoy Cold Steel and I pray that Trails has picked up enough popularity now to give XSEED that extra little nudge to take on the massive undertaking of TiTS 3rd, Ao, and Zero some day.
Cold steel is a...... disappointment. Let's hope it is 2 disappointment and 1 really good third game which explains all the "WHAT THE SHIT IVAN" moments in the first 2.
Yeah that OVA was utter garbage. This game really does need a full anime series in order to do it justice. We can only hope that XSeed translates the two Crossbell games because we just need more of this series. This is honestly one of the very few series that has yet to disappoint me even a single time. All of these games are so damn good. Now I shall sit here and wait very impatiently for the next release....IS IT HERE YET!? XD
Man it's been a while since I played this game so I can't accurately decribe my feelings at the time besides the fact that it was a super emotional moment.
well........ dem cry won't stop....... falcom have done the best with the music and scene which no matter how you could foresee the next scene, you will cry the moment you see this scene..... and dem the feels..........
do yourself a favor and listen to the first few seconds of sky fc's opening movie and really think about what that connection means. trails in the sky is a masterpiece of a trilogy
Never played Legend of Heroes during the time I used to play my psp. I remember all the ISO and CSO files being in Japanese so got to give them a try or Tales of Destiny 2 But from what I've heard from music of this series it's as good Ys
When we die we die together Our love shall last forever And as winners we go into the light To the paradise on the other side ....nevermind me xD ...that just popped up in my head when I watched a gameplay of this scene years ago.... and my computer just had to shut down when the pillar cracked and they both fell -_-
Best romance arc in a video game that's not specifically about romance.
When you know that the main characters don't die but nonetheless you feel sad and emotional, then you know the game has done an amazing job with this scene.

The hug then the kiss before falling into the void.
I was crying all my tears of my body. This feeling was the best
One of the best endings ever. My mind was blown by how powerful and well done it was. So much emotion. A true masterpiece
The moment this scene played I just yelled "RAGNARD BRO IT'S GOTTA BE YOU, BE THE HOMIE YOU WERE MEANT TO BE!!"
Gotta love how Ragnard comes up with a loophole to justify being a homie despite being bound to not interfere with humanity.
I was expecting the Arseille or the Bobcat so I was genuinely getting worried for a minute.
@@nerdorama009 I was really worried... I played a blind run and forgot about ragnard...
I was devastated when the Ariselle and Bobcat weren't going to help...
If nobody got me, I know my boy Ragnard got me ✊
Falcom are masters of the motif. This level of gut wrenching should be considered a war crime. They somehow manage to do it nearly every game too.
Estelle and Joshua last moment at crumbling pillar and then this song played is the best scene.
+Mist Rahman It makes me cry every single time.
First time I thought that it was the end of the road. A sweet but really sad end (then Cassius finally show himself with his dragon pal). I would have been okay with this end. Sad, but okay as it was really beautiful.

The ending was so well done. This song really charge that scene with the right emotions.

My friend played it after I recommended it. Glad I have friends with similar interests.
Congratz for having good friends. I have online friends who have played it to, but we don't talk that much.
I feel you on that. I gave this game to my brother for Christmas with my highest recommendations. Two years later he still hasn't played it.
