I remember Chan saying that he heard rumors that when the staffs heard it, they cried so much because the lyrics are written so beautifully and emotionally.
I think (fellow stays feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) he included that tree with the paint because of the blue tree project. For anyone who doesn’t know, the blue tree project is to help raise awareness on mental health, and help encourage people to open up about their mental health and talk about it. This SKZ-PLAYER was also released during mental health awareness month. Have a great day everyone!
Blue tree project is a thing here in Australia to help raise awareness of mental health concerns. In Ex, Changbin was putting blue paint on a tree painting which can be seen while he was in ghost appearance. God i love SKZ
I almost cried when you said "you can feel the pain in his voice" yes indeed. One thing about Changbin is that you can really feel the emotions he wants to convey with the way he raps. He can be aggresive but can also be really emotional. I can only understand a little korean but I can feel the earnestness of this song with the few words I pick up.
If you realize, when Chan start singing Changbin look up to the lights, I don't know it's just the timing or it means I'm Changbin's loneliness when he becomes a light for others, but himself is in the dark, Chan was the one who becomes a light for him. I don't know if it's just in my mind tho
4:30 Changbin has said a few times that he is the member that the others go to for advice and support because he is a great listener but he never really talks about his worries or struggles to them. He keeps it all inside and puts up a strong front for them (trying to smile/ look bright around others despite what he's feelings) but in reality he feels truly lonely like that streetlight since he doesn't allow himself to confide in anyone. So when you were talking about the question mark changing the sentence from "you can lean on me" (him referring to his friends/members being able to talk to him about anything) to "but can I lean on you?" (Him asking himself if he can lean on them as well and be honest or if he should act strong for them and continue to bottle it all up inside) it really made me cry like a baby jnrvjrenmvfjirmfjtrkew Also i cant remember the translation exactly since I'm at the end of the video but he said something like "It must not be that bad because i can still endure it" as if even though he's so so lonely, he hasn't broken down yet and is still able to keep it all inside so it must not be as bad as he thinks... but then as it goes on he's realising he's struggling and it's getting more unbearable as time goes on and says "someone ask if I'm okay" because he's reached breaking point... IM SOBBING. Changbin is so artistic and poetic with with lyrics, i truly wish him all the happiness. WE LOVE YOU CHANGBIN
I just remembered that during the lyric writing for Hellevator, he wanted "sweat and TEARS" to be emphasized, instead of the typical "blood and sweat"- could be a stretch but Changbin's character is like the most consistent
The way Changbin managed to convey emotions through his voice and rap is magnificent. He really showed how music, no matter the language, can be felt and understood by everyone.
The first time I heard even without the subs I cried my eyes out because I can hear the hurt and desperation in his voice and listening to it again… I can’t
Changbin definitely has a way with words. Almost every sad song Stray Kids have done, Changbin wrote most, if not all of each one. I just want to hug him and tell him everything is okay ♥️♥️♥️
3:32 Han stopping the same time as Andy did while reacting to this song on vlive. At 'niga eopseo nan' part. That part must hit hard. Thank you to this channel, as you guys clever eng speakers that understand korean. This video helps a lot. This song is so relatable, man i sad now.
Hi, thank you for reacting to one of my favorite song of Stray Kids.. From what i have researched about the blue paint and the dead tree with blue paint its all about supporting people fighting from loneliness, depression or anxiety letting them know that they are not the only ones on this fight.. Changbin's song Streetlight from what i saw from videos he mentioned that he wrote the song to let others feel that they can be comforted through his music just as much he comforts himself while writing it..
This song saved my life and mental health twice ... It heals me every time I'm spending hard emotional situation... I feel like I'm not the only one that is suffering from these kind of feelings ... I'm not alone ...
The dead tree with blue paint in the end represent "The blue tree project", the meaning is to help raise awareness on mental health. Helping to encourage people to open up about their mental health and talk about it since this song released during Mental Health awareness month. By spreading the paint and the message that "its okay to not be ok", that can help break the stigma that's still largely attached to mental health.
"Streetlight"- is about how people come to you for support when they are feeling sad but you yourself are feeling sad and alone. He uses the streetlight as a metaphor for how someone may look bright in the darkness but are actually sad and alone. The blue plant is supposed to represent the Blue Tree Project aimed at encouraging individuals to speak about their mental health with a message of “it’s OK to not be OK”. The blue paint was inspired by Jayden Whyte who painted a tree blue on his parents’ farm as a joke however later he committed suicide late 2018. Changbin and Stray Kids would want to encourage people to speak out either if you are feeling sad or to check on someone. You can donate to the project just type Blue Tree Project if you can’t than spread the message like me.
the feeling I get from this is that he always cares bout the other (which is true, members often talked how he's always there when they need help or to get worries off their shoulder, he's basically a skz's mental supporter, especially for the younger ones) and he tends to fake his happiness in front of them so they see him as a strong pillar so they can lean on them more casually but on the other hand sometimes, when his bottled up emotions are overwhelming him and he is falling apart he dont want anyone to see him in this state but at the same time he want someone to comfort him, to listen to his worries. I may be over analyzing it bc its basically how i deal with my emotion but skz's music have a lot of space for listeners to interpret meanings of the song so everyone can have different interpretation of the same song and all of them can be true bc everyone have different worries and experiences. Okay I should probably end here bc i can write a whole 10 page essay about their music. Anyways. I love your reactions!
This song is very important for a lot of Stays because it's related both to loneliness and depression. I remember the first time I listened to this, it just came out so I didn't know the lyrics but the emotions in his voice was enough to make me cry. Then the words make it even better.
Chagbin's lyrics are always so beautiful. This song was just *chefs kiss* everything. Stays taking it as their fight song with depression while I'm seeing it as his inner struggle. the whole thing of him forcing a smile is just... sad. but they're idols and they have to sometimes fake their own emotions. They go through so much and I'm so grateful for them. >w< thank you for explaining more of the lyrics because I missed some of the meanings behind them. ^_^
I appreciate you two so so much. I really do. Your lyric breakdowns/reactions for skz make my days. 3racha are incredibly poetic and they like to use play on words and metaphors so much it's heart warming watching you guys genuinely appreciate and break down their artwork for Stays that aren't fluent in Korean. Can't wait to see more bsides and skz records/players from the both of you!! Thank you for this reaction
his positive/relatable messages on their songs is definetly what got me It'd been about ten years that I stopped listening to this type of music and now they've taken over my spotify acc I really needed good energy and support (cause I'm a loner) and I found that in them
That last part where you pointed out how he's watering his career with his tears. I'd honestly agree.. Anything in SKZ MVs got meaning and convey some sort of imagery.. Gosh thank you so much. You said you'd react to this last time and you really did. Love the breakdown and analysis, helps us understand it more. 💕
Please can you make a lyrics breakdown video of han's ”I got It”.There's no clear explanation of the lyrics yet. It would be awesome if you guys explains the lyrics and word play in han's song. And also i'm really enjoying these lyrics breakdown videos.
@@love_and_peace3 for han i got it, he is play with word, i got it and agari means in korean is shut up your mouth. many stay think the song is for Mnet who dont nominate skz in Mama
I read a comment that said that Chan singing a verse was like him joining Changbin, and now they are at least two streetlights side by side, illuminating each other, and I think that's beautiful and a testimony to their character
I was already sad when I first heard it...and the replays after. Now, I'm just depressed coz the layer of your translation dug deeper into the song. This is also one of the reasons why I'm glad to have found you, Korean-speaking reactors, who could unravel the lyrics more than English translations do. And as a non-Korean speaker, I'm feeling the gap haha
The blue paint on the tree at the end symbolizes the Blue Tree Project. An organization for mental health. Blue paint is also shown in Ex during Changbin's part. I feel like it is meant to symbolize the same thing there as well.
This is one rare song that made me cry. Like cry like a faucet. I dont even understand the lyrics back then. It is just heartrending. So poetic and beautiful.
I always listen to this with translated lyrics but watching your reaction and you guys interpreting the lyrics gave ne new insights to the meaning of the song that couldn't have been given by direct translated ones. Thank you!
Thank you so much for explaining your interpretation of the lyrics. I always knew this song was sad, but the way you explained it helped me understand so much more!!! And I totally agree with your idea about the plant being watered with his tears. I love that idea of something growing out of his pain. Great video!!!
I love your reactions!! Your comments brings out other aspects that we can´t see because we can only read the english translations. OMG!! I want to go to Corea and give these kids a hug and tell them how great they´re doing, how special they are, and how much we love them!!! I felt this song so hard because I feel the same... I´m always happy and smiling for my son and daugther (and everyone else) to help them get through hard time but nobody ask ME if I´m okay!!! SOMEBODY ASK ME PLEASE!! That´s what Changbin is saying too.
Changbin is become one with the color blue , the same happens with our J- hope !! Both of them are so poetic artists, only themselves can understand their own feelings and souls !!
awwww love your logic on the blue paint!! i think it was abt the blue tree project, but it could also be his tears for real! like how he'll use those tears or his difficult times to even 'grow' better or stronger.
I've been waiting for this reaction haha! I hope you guys continue reacting to their skz players and records, it really shows their talent as individuals because they're all self-made projects! Your reactions are always so fun :))

bro i think i just had an existential crisis after hearing this

the way Changbin looked up when Bangchan started singing, like he was someone’s Changbin could leaned on
