This remark is meant to be limited and specific. Since discovering The Hot Club of France for myself in college decades ago, I have heard a great many guitarists play 'in the style" of Django during various performances. There are too many truly great guitarists out there to make mention fairly . But this is only the first or possibly second time I have ever heard a performance and sound that could have fooled me into thinking it was actually Django playing his Maccaferri in 1936.
It goes without saying that Adrien Chevalier is a genuine talent and fluid stylist, and that it was his playing - in my estimation - which was the irreplaceable element in the Avalon Jazz Band's early work. Wishing great and continued success to all of these musicians. They deserve recognition for their work.
