I was 5yrs old when I first fished that section with my dad who was a member of H&D for 15 years. We have tonight decided to become members again and get down there again this year! Cant wait. Chances are your dad fished with mine.
Hi Chris, firstly thanks for watching and for your comments. I was about 13/14 when I first fished it. Thing is my dad wasn’t an angler so I was in the club as a junior member during the early 80’s. It’s a cracking stretch of natural river. See you on the river 👍
Great videos, me and my Dad were members of Huyton DAA for many years, used to love my trips to the dee for our club matches, gonna get the rods out again and revisit it. Must have fished with you when you was there early 80,Sat some time. Tight lines
I’ve since met up with a few other people who were young anglers with HDAA and it’s fantastic that they’re still fishing and enjoying this beautiful river 👍
I’ve spent most of this year on the rivers to be honest, and loved every minute. I love float fishing in general and the rivers are just an extra challenge I suppose. Thanks for watching 👍
My biggest Grayling have come from faster water, shingle beds, turning points…the places where the river surface seems to change.. . It’s not hard to fish, just something else to learn, but rivers are the best ✌️
@@thinkFishcatchFish Yeah i agree rivers are facinating thinkfish . The only grayling i have ever caught was from the worthenbury brook . I Had some loverly ones out of there . They built some houses and a water treatment facility there for the houses and the worthenbury brook is no longer what it was now. I fish the river alt thats the closest river to me . I seen a large terripen in there the summer gone . I believe they stopped being imported to britain in around 2006 so it must have been in the alt for a while . I know what you mean about features on rivers agreed . Its usually the outside of bends that are the deepest . Alot of the lengths of the alt and douglas have been straightened and changed for the transportation of the coal industry before they built the canals in the 1700 -1800s
@@joeokeefe5061 Hiya Joe, I’m Paul btw. The Alt is definitely on the up, chub and dace in lots of places, but I think it’s a place to move about which is tough because of accessibility.
@@thinkFishcatchFish Cheers and nice to speak paul 👍 I have found the river alt is changable in depths along its reaches thinkfish. There's better fish holding depths further out in the sticks . ive plumbed up 8-9ft deep in places . And deeper than that towards hightown. In huyton where the alt surfaces , there was an ancient boat harbour discovered that boats used to sail up the river alt to the harbour indicating that the river alt used to be a much larger water column in past times . In the 1720s an act in parliment was passed to dig out all of the brooks and ditches around england that dispersed the ground water and spread it out and probably made the river alts water course much lower in todays age . The envirnomental agency did a great job stocking it back up again . The alts weed growth is probably so dense because of fazakerley's sawage works feeding excess minerals back in to the outflow . The rivers weed growth in fazackerly dose not die off during winter near the sawage works, it flourishes all year round in the fazackerly part of the alt . Anyway nice to speak to you paul . great channel 👍
