Sheila Johnson is a visionary entrepreneur with a passion for helping others.
In the 1980s, she co-founded Black Entertainment Television. She continues to be a powerful influence in the entertainment industry, executive producing several documentary and feature films with humanitarian themes.
Johnson has since diversified her business interests. She is founder and CEO of Salamander Collection, which operates luxury properties centred around unique destinations in the US and the Caribbean.
As a partner of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Johnson is the only African American woman to have ownership in three professional sports teams: the Washington Capitals (NHL), the Washington Wizards (NBA), and the Washington Mystics (WNBA). She is also the first African American woman to own a PGA Championship golf course.
Johnson spearheaded the formation of WE Capital, a venture capital consortium specializing in female-led enterprises with a goal of promoting social impact while generating financial returns.
Johnson serves on the education committee of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and is a past member of Barack Obama’s President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities and the Council on Foreign Relations. She serves as a board member of the Metropolitan Opera, the Jackie Robinson Foundation, the Simon & Schuster Publishing Advisory Board, and the PBS Foundation, among others.
Her memoir, Walk Through Fire, was published by Simon & Schuster in September 2023.

Sheila Johnson est une entrepreneure visionnaire pour qui l’entraide est une passion.  
Dans les années 1980, elle a été cofondatrice de la chaîne Black Entertainment Television. Elle exerce toujours une grande influence sur l’industrie du divertissement à titre de productrice exécutive de plusieurs documentaires et longs métrages abordant des thèmes humanitaires.  
 Sheila Johnson a diversifié ses intérêts commerciaux. Elle est fondatrice et chef de la direction de Salamander Collection, qui exploite des propriétés de luxe dans des destinations uniques aux États-Unis et dans les Caraïbes.  
 Partenaire de la société Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Sheila C. Johnson est la seule Afro-Américaine à posséder des intérêts dans trois équipes sportives professionnelles, soit les Capitals de Washington (NHL), les Wizards de Washington (NBA) et les Mystics de Washington (WNBA). Elle est également la première femme afro-américaine à posséder un terrain de golf du Championnat de la PGA.  
Sheila Johnson est à l’origine de la création de WE Capital, un consortium de capital-risque spécialisé dans les entreprises dirigées par des femmes, dont l’objectif est de promouvoir l’impact social tout en générant des rendements financiers.
Sheila Johnson siège au comité de l’éducation de l’American Academy of Arts and Sciences et a été membre du comité des arts et des sciences humaines du président Barack Obama et du Conseil des relations étrangères. Elle est également membre du conseil d’administration du Metropolitan Opera, de la Jackie Robinson Foundation et de la PBS Foundation, ainsi que du conseil consultatif de Simon & Schuster Publishing.
