  • Made in a similar way as Otzi's pack. Willow is such a useful material, every outdoorsman should know the various ways to use it well. Once dry, this style of pack frame is exceptionally lightweight, and strong. Try making one of these simple pack frames like ancient people did before you sell and arm and a leg for that fancy new hiking pack at Cabela's!

I just want to remind people to please not use a knife and cut towards yourself unless you are absolutely sure you wont cut yourself. Especially if you are cutting a stick over your femoral artery. Love the vid bro! Looking to make one of these when im out just for fun ❤

Great point. One slip and we could have been watching a video on "how to improvise a survival tourniquet". Still a cool channel though 🤠

@@floppycopy1284 Let's just say that looking up 'do I need stitches?' when your home alone is not fun. I am very careful with a knife now.

    1. Starts to look like Otze’s pack frame.
    2. Sometime, try the “diamond O hitch”. Time proven. Instead of having to add more horizontal sticks for tie-on points, add some Prussic knots to the verticals. They are also useful in camp.

Lovely, very much like Otzi the iceman's from 5,000 years ago.
i've been learning how to tie a shemagh into a pack by itself - the japanese "furoshiki" tradition has many clever techniques for making bags and wrappers out of square cloth. There's even a different headwrap if you like the shemagh's popular use
