yeah as a felow german it was very obvious cecilias native language is german and she has indeed a stronger accent than Kiara. Its just that many americans are expecting the stereotypical german accent which to be frank is only present in people who dont speak english very wel at all.

@@Miruk4 Its a bit difficult to describe its mostly in the intonations she uses and the way she pronounces many words very clearly where a native english speaker would kinda slur them a bit ... its kinda hard to explain. My first example would be how she pronounces "can't" for example which is like very clear strong emphasize on the a and its a very german sounding a ... very close to british but not quite. IDK im not a linguist I can´t describe it very well :)

Their voices aren’t like CRAZY similar, but it’s kind of like Gura and Mumei where when they get within a certain pitch range they can sound pretty close, even more so considering similar accents.

I'll never understand the whole Gura and Mumei thing. I think that was just a forced bit because they sound nothing like each other. It just so happened that Mumei saying "American Angus Beef" or something that it sounded a bit like Gura and then everyone just piled on. Their voices are like Coke and Dr. Pepper, there's just no mistaking the two.
IMO, even though I feel like Kiara's accent is overall thicker than Cecilia's, Kiara's accent, at least to me, is much more vague in origin where as Cecilia's is quite obviously a German accent.

That's basically how we would pronounce "iron" if we only saw how it was spelled.

Im surprised everyones saying Cecelia has a stronger accent. Kiaras accent is extremely distinct to my ears for some reason. Cecelia has one sure but a ton times watching her streams past few days it feels less obvious
Fun fact: The old English alphabet used to have a letter for the "TH" sound.
But back then, the only good printing presses were in German and since they don't have the "TH" in both their language usage and alphabets, when the English requested words with "TH" in it, they just replaced them with the cursive "Y" instead
Hence we have signs like "Ye Olde Pub"
In short, the Germans basically rewrote the English writing system because it's too hard for them to print the existing one 😂
To add to this, the "th" sound was also originally its own letter, which is þ. I believe it died out in usage within English because the typewriter, or something similar, could not accommodate all letters so it and some others were thrown out in favor of using their digraph counterparts (th being the digraph for þ).

@@JAMllostthegame actually English had two: ð and þ. They make slightly different vocalizations of the sound. ð however, was superseded by þ and English treats the two sounds as the same. The removal of þ followed afterwards. Icelandic still has both of these legacy letters in its alphabet largely in part to its relative isolation from the continent and thus were not influenced by the two letter shifts.

It is because there is no English standardization even after centuries of usage. IIRC in the past there were some attempts to standardize, but no one became THE standard. Now it is too late since who the heck wants to standardize a language used by more than half of the world (either as native language, second, third or, n-th language). It would take an enormous effort to do it now rather than, let's say, a century ago. So we just shrug it off and use English as it is.
Indonesian also has the similar case: a jumble of Malay, Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, and even English into the mix. But since there IS a standard made by the government (and it is updated if necessary), the pronunciation is more stable than English.

Nah, actual tone and pitch? Not even a little, you'd never mistake them in a call or anything. People are tripping hard if they think that lol.
Different vocal timbre and default pitches; significantly different emotional tone. Similar cadence, use of dynamics/inflection for emphasis, pronunciation, choice of diction. TL;DR their heads and vocal cords are shaped differently, but they have similar cultural background... which is exactly what we would expect. I would be able to distinguish them 99% of the time unless they practiced sounding like each other.

I can hear the similarity in their accents between Kiara and Cecilia, but if we're talking just the sound of the voices themselves I think Cecilia is way closer to sounding like Sana than anyone else.
While Cecilia does remind me of Kiara due to them both being German, I wouldn't say she sounds exactly the same. If I listened to them both with my eyes closed, I wouldn't mix them up; it's not another Gura and Mumei situation.

TBH I didn't even realize Kiara had a Euro accent back before she mentioned her nationality. I thought she just had a slight speech impediment with certain sounds. Shiori has a similar thing with "th" sounds, for example. I think it's charming. Cecelia, I can hear the accent. To my ears, it's a constant undercurrent to her speech, which is also nice.

Tbh even within your own country people pronounce stuff different by city/state. I'm Irish and I say "Iron" when I am talking about the metal but if I am on about the Iron you use for ironing clothes I pronounce it "Arn" and "Arning". I do this out of habit because I always thought I needed a way to distinguish the two and it made sense to me. I can say it either way but I prefer Arn 😅. The same when pronouncing Ireland. I pronounce it like "Arland". Some people say it the same as me and others don't and we live on the same street 🤣.

Wawas accent is notably stronger, as CC has very hoch to large cities from northern coast and west borders german which trains a lot of standard latinized speech when converted to other languages unlike dialect forms.

I agree with Wawa that her voice and Cecee's voice are not identical. There's a clear distinction, but I do think her accent is heavier than Cecee's. There's nothing wrong with her having a heavier accent, I just think that her voice accentuates it.

As a German it's easy to distinguish. Kiara is Austrian sounds like a female version of Arnie with the accent toned down by 80%. Sometimes it comes out thicker and reminds you even more of Arnie. Cecilia just has a German accent where she pronounces everything very clearly. The way she talks sounds almost the exact same as when I speak English. Pay attention to when she reads something aloud, there's even more accent then. It's the same for me.
