One of the most underrated channel on youtube... Your content is to the point, no unnecessary spec talks, direct result, what most of the photographers want to see.
So true, the 85mm is a diva, and I sold it. Have the 135mm now, and its a keeper. Actually it was designed by Canon as a indoor sports lens, thats why its so effective at focusing.
It's one of the best. I use the Canon 20mm f2.8, 24mm f1.4 L II, 28mm f1.8, 40mm f2.8 pancake, various 50mm lenses, the 85mm f1.2 L II, the 100mm L Macro, the 135mm L f2.0 (excellent and from all of these lenses the best "look") and the 200mm L II. All do an excellent job and all are great for people shots, but the 135 L is exceptional.
This is by far one of the best reviews I’ve ever seen on RUclips! You emotion to photography is unbelievable! Thank you so much for this! But you may have cost me some money 😂

Thank you very much for your kind words! If you liked the review, you can search on my channel for "review" and you will find many lens reviews and camera reviews. The last lenses I got that I am working on right now is the 100mm L IS and the 200mm f2.8 L II. Reviews coming very soon ;)
You’ve sold me. The 6D and the 135L is what I’m working towards this year, now having watched this I am convinced it will help me realise the pictures I have in my mind. I have a couple of vintage 135s (2.8) and I love what it does on a crop body too. But the colours and bokeh on the Canon is just sublime, it has so much character.
What a great, unique review! Most reviews are dry and technical, and don’t really give a feel for the lens. Your review is about results and the feel you get from the lens! Very nice!

Thank you Jerry! Take a look at my channel, I think you will like it :)
I recently started my photographer journey and I'd like to say thank you for sharing your work and knowledge. It is truly inspiring and a very emotional experience. I hope I can give others the same joy you do when they see my work in the future. Thank you again and keep the videos coming because they are awesome to watch!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video, I really appreciated it. So often reviews on you tube are someone using a lens or camera for a day, maybe a week or two if they're trying to be thorough. It has so much more value to see aa review, like this, where someone has used a lens for a very extended period of time and they know it's strength and weaknesses. It helped me to see in practice the working distances between the camera and subject. I had calculated it but to see it in real life was far more helpful. I hope one day to own this lens. Good luck with building your channel.
Thank you very much for your video. I have been shooting with the 135mm for years. You are a kind person to remind us that doing what we love and giving to others will built our character.
Beautiful video! You convinced me to buy the canon 6D as my 1st full frame camera. I already had the 135 mm f/2 lens, but you make me appreciate it even more. Thanks for sharing!
There's no way to express how much I enjoy watching your videos, the content is obviously great but your personality seems even better. Hopefully one day I will get to experience life the way you do :)
I would venture to say this is a focal point I’d give someone just beginning. I’d been taking good photos for a while but was trying to cram in too much. I did an event this weekend with two cameras using a 35 and a 135. The vast majority of photos were 135 and were excellent: the 135 forced me to isolate and develop ONE THING in a photo and my pics came out great. It forces you to.
Thank you very much what you offer. I really like your pictures, videos and mindset, you're totally right. I wish you the best because you deserve it !
Thank you for this video. When I was considering whether or not buy this lens 18 months ago, I had been seen one of your video by chance. It was insprired me. Then I followed your channel. Every video make me feel insprired. Your picture is very nice. This is the first time I comment on your channel. I was waiting for this video because you have started review your gear recently. Thank you for your content you bring into your channel. I hope to see your upcoming video! I still very happy with my 6D2 and 135L. Thank you so much!
Great inspiration! I bought myself this lens few weeks ago and I really enjoy using it. You show how you use it and how you see through it in this video and that will help me get that step better at my hobby
I would like to say I was very touched by this video and I really appreciate your love and care of how you did this video you know well felt took your time Express what all I need to hear I'm pretty much new in this business I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your videos so that I may learn and become good at My craft: thank you.👍✌️

Hi Joderrick, thank you very much for your feedback! Take a look at my channel, you will find many videos like this one. Just search on my channel for "review" and you got all the gear talk with many images like in this video :)
Absolutely beautiful, this is my favorite lens. Going out shooting today in the park and trying to decide which lenses to bring with. You are so talented shooting while videoing! Love ♥️💋💃👍🏼✋🏼
Hi Dirkson are you sure you are not a god .? absolutely love how you play with those gear ,and the shots are perrrrrrrrfect.!! and street photography is my passion too thank you soooo much for this video you gain 1 new subscriber from indonesia
Man this video sold me to get the 135L than 85mm. Got a mint condition last month. Now im getting a used 2nd hand 6d to partner my eos rp. Thnx man. Subscribed
Hello Dirksón "... if I touch somebody emotionally.. please drop a comment...' Then, this is my comment for you :-) 'cause you did it; I was enjoying the vid from the very beginning, these last words of you made my day. Been looking from some pointers and opinions on this lens, your approach is awesome, the accompanying photos very storytelling. Specs is nothing but a bunch of numbers written on a piece of paper. Thank you very much, Danke schoen :-)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding the 135mm focal length, this focal length is somehow "forgotten" as most photographers uses the 90mm focal length as the standard portraiture lens or the big/heavy 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom lenses. This lens is compact weight less, has a stop advantage compared to the 70-200 and it is not painted white! You get a different look as most are using the 90mm. Another advantage of using bright lenses with a DSLR is that your image will be brighter in the optical viewfinder. I will experiment with the 3 prime lens approach in a near future as prices of new and secondhand 6D bodies have dropped significantly.
Great video! I wanted to buy this lens & you have convinced me to buy it immediately without any further consideration. Thank you! :)

I have it now for 5 years and it is still one of the greatest. I also have the 24 f1.4, 35 f1.4, 50L, 85L 100L 200L and the 135L is one of my all time favorites even after all these years.
Very thoughtful review, human like))) Great images! Really cool, how you are able to get this nice portraits with a day light only. Nice lens indeed, though if I have enough space, 200mm 2.8 L II is my first choice, it is even more contrasty and color fidelity is better due to my taste.
5 лет назад
I have to try that 200mm f2.8 L lens. I bought it once on eBay but when I sent the money I never heard of him again - and never got the. lens. Maybe in the next months I'll try again :)
@ I am sorry to hear that. I understand you pain, know it is very frustrating, same did happen to me once. Very difficult no to lose trust in people. I can send you the lens for a trial, then you can have a better impression if you need this tool in you work or not. Schöne Grüße aus Bochum, Alex.

@@alexanderpopov4691 It didn't really matter. Failure is part of the process of success and I got so many great deals with other lenses that having paid and not getting anything didn't really bother much. So it wasn't really pain or a negative experience, I see it as another interesting story to tell :)
Oh boy, i was looking for 135 reviews to get on my canon eos r, i have the rf50 and want 24mm lens too. Doesnt look like canon is bringing 24 and 135 RF this year thats why im looking into the EF lenses. But let me tell you something, man your images are stunning, absolutely amazing job. This is the first video i watched from you and instantly subscribed. Later on will check more because what you do is what i really like. Again, amazing job, i hope there is more videos on 24 50 135 wedding combo because im trying to escape the 35/85 that everyone uses. Also im hoping ill find some editing videos from you, your edits are absolutely amazing. Thanks for the video, have a good day.

Hi Deyan, thanks for your great feedback! Take a look at my channel, there are over 999 videos like this one :) Just type in "review" and you will also find reviews about many lenses like the 24mm f1.4 L II lens. Also I recommend looking at my EF 20mm f2.8 lens review as I was really fascinated by that cheap small lens that somehow no one uses. Give me feedback please about if you liked it and if these videos could help and inspire you :)
Great videos Dirksón! Photography I'm looking for a decent telephoto lens for my 6D other than my 85mm. After viewing both of your videos on the canon 135L and 200L, I'm still asking myself whether the 135L +1.4 extender or only the 200L would be a good fit for my lens collection. I would love to hear about your experience with both lenses and which one is more practical.

I love the 135mm L. It is probably the most beautiful image from any of my lenses. The 200mm L I only use occasionally where the 135 L can be used everyday for everything :)
Hi Dirkson, great portrait images! You have mastered this focal length. Do you have any videos on how you edit your 135mm portraits? Or you could sell Lightroom presets. Thanks! Greg
4 года назад+1
Here are all my presets I use - I edit all images in around 5 seconds per image - a video link how to use the presets in Lightroom is included: www.dirkson-photography.com/lightroom-presets2/ One of the last videos I uploaded was about editing the files from the R5 taken with the 85 L II at f1.2. You will find around 80 to 100 videos with the 135L on my channel, just look for "135" or look for "Lightroom" or "editing" on my channel to see me edit my images - I bet also some videos show the images taken with the 135mm L :) Just uploading my 90 minute Eos R5 Review if you are interested... :)
Nice. Love the way you use one hand with that lens. And you shoot low as well. You must have strong arm, wrist, and back :-). What shutter speed do you use? Are you concern with the shutter speed to slow and causing blur?
An excellent video , I have been meaning to purchased this lens , but I always had my 70-200 2.8 , which has always been my bread and butter lens , but to see yo use it with one hand has made me think again , as my wrists are not as strong as they used to be . Thanks
4 года назад
The 135mm L f2.0 is a great lens, I use it at f2.0 all the time. All images you see in this video are kind of shot at f2.0. It´s that good. I had a 70-200 f4.0 L and never touched it after having the 135 L. It is also light and relatively small without lens hood (I never use a lens hood on any lens).
I am here looking for a lens to replace my 70-200 f2.8 cause this one(70-200) is very heavy and I end the day with some pain in my wrist . You convinced me to buy a 135mm. Thanks for this great review.

great video dirkson please advise me wether i should get the 24mm 105 or 135mm to start photography business for portrait wedding and corporate pictures
4 года назад
As a general Setup to Photograph everything I think there lenses are enough- a wide angle of 24mm or wider, a standard 50mm lens and a telephoto lens. The 50mm I would go with the 60mm f1.8 for the beginning and the tele could be the 85 f1.8 or 100mm f2.0. Wide angle can also be the older 20mm f2.8 used for 250. This way with under 800 euros/$ you have all lenses you need. Then over the years you can replace the lenses with more expensive ones (50mm f1.2, 85mm f1.2), but those are not necessary in the beginning.
@ Many thanks for your support, you are admirable. you welcome to scotland anytime for some landscape photos. i also like the 135 mm just a little costy beside it being prime lense
HI I like your video. I was wondering, Is this Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM Lens is suitable for indoor group photo of about 100 people?
3 года назад
photographing 100 people indoors seems a big challenge. Using the 135mm for that you need to get really far far away, so I don't see that scene possible. The focal length depends on how much space you have. 135mm is great for 5 people portraits outdoors when you have a lot of space. Inside I would probably go wider, at least 85,, 50mm or 35mm or 24mm.
The Canon EF 135mm L are very sharp, with crisp colors and a good contrast, I had that lens, but now I have got the Sony 135 1.8 GM which is much better in any way ! I only wish that Sony will make 1.4x and 2x teleconverters for this lens !
Judging from the video, it seems to need 5m for half body shot and 10m for full body. Really far. Especially when u need to communicate with your subjects in a crowded and noisy environment. Images are gorgeous no doubt.
Hi this lens on a crop sensor like the 90d will work fine? If not what would you recommend? Thanks!. Ps. I'm super new in photography as you can see 😊. I have a 50mm for portraits and I love what comes out of that little lens.
4 года назад+1
This will give you kind of 200mm on crop cameras which looks great but you need distance to your subject.
@ thanks! Will it be much of a difference if I go for the 85mm 1.8?. Thanks again for sharing and inspiring! Keep up the good job.!
4 года назад+1
The 85mm is much cheaper but also closer to the 50mm. When buying lenses in the beginning its good to have many mm between the focal lenghts. So buying a 50mm and a 35mm is not the best way as these two are very close together. I like a 3 lens setup which works for kind of everything - a wide angle, a standard 50mm lens and a telephoto lens which can be a 85 or 135 or 100mm lens. Both the 85 and 135mm lenses are great though the 135 is legendary.
I love the music you choose for your videos. I know you also create music and I am wondering if this is also your music. Of course I also love your videos. I got a 20mm, and a135mm after watching your videos.

2:22, 2:37 and 3:10, how you light the subjects? In the footage, subjects look very dark, many lights behind them (backlit), without any flashes in front to light the subjects , we couldn't get the photos you post in the video clip.
5 лет назад+1
Hi VietKiemTruGian, I edit all images very simply and quickly as I take all images very simply and quickly. I usually shoot without flash (only use it on weddings inside when it's already dark). Images like these are very easy to get in editing. I have created a video Course that shows you how to get finished images like that in Lightroom in under 20 seconds - here is a link for you - there are over 100 RAW files included that I edit, so you can practice to get the same results - in under 20 seconds: www.dirkson-photography.com/produkt/the-20-second-editing-workflow-by-dirkson/ I can send you a download version if you like for 89,95 Euros/Dollars. Love from Germany, Dirksón!
Hello sir i appreciate your review, may i ask if it is worth to upgrade an 135mm f2 for portrait?i already have 85mm 1.8
5 лет назад+1
I love the 135mm f2 lens. The 85mm is also a great lens, not as special but similar from its perspective. Do you have other lenses also? If not I would first go for a 24/28/35mm for the wider end. Otherwise the 135mm will give you great joy for years to come, so I can definitely recommend it.
I finally got hold of this lens after first watched this video 2 years ago to be paired with the still going strong 6d 😁 Purpose wise I planned to used in low light plane spotting 😎
3 года назад+1
It's still one of the greatest lenses I've ever used and by now I've used everything from 14mm to 200mm :)
@ nice that you’re able to experience different lens (and camera and share user experience with the viewers here. Personally your 6d video is the one that make me stick to my 6d and use the fund to buy better lens Also, I actually did used the old 400mm f5.6 lens for portrait of myself 😂 as it was my only lens at that time
I do have same setup, canon 6d with 135mm, but it took me a split second to compose and recompose, and i have to use my both hands, how can u so quickly compose and recompose, and that with single hand. Are you seriously composing and recomposing using centre point only? You must be using back button to focus?
5 лет назад+1
I always use the center focus point and then recompose before I push the shutter. No back button focusing, although that can help :)
Hi buddy I just purchased canon 135 mm f2 lens just because of you ..the way you take your pics ..just amazing ..I was planning to take 70-200 f2.8 mark ii but I felt it too heavy and difficult to take it everywhere I go ..too price also ..I've got brand new 135 mm f2 ..half of the price of 70-200 f2.8 ii .. The product has not arrived yet ..today or tomorrow I get it in my hands .. I just love your portraits , the way you take it and your editing ..sublime ...I'm concerned about having no image stabilization in this lens ..but I hope it won't be an issue as the lens is less than the size of a 24-70 mark ii ..
4 года назад+1
I still love the 135 L even now years later. You will have a great time with it :) I never needed IS, so it probably won't be an issue for you. I wish you much fun with it and incredible photographs :)
@ lens arrived today ..we took some shots. I found the shots are shaken , in fact most of them ..not focussing that will ..may be because no image stabilization ..there are some adjustments also to do on the lens itself .. ..I did not do anything .. tomorrow we will try out again ..hope the images come our really well ..how do you take your pics without camera shakes ? I can see you are talking so many pics and showing some of them ..all your images come perfectly without any issue or you just choose the best image for the video without any focussing or camera shake issues ? Hope you reply soon ..
I've had interest in this lens for many years back when I was shooting an Olympus. Sold it a couple of years back and now I'm rocking an original 5D... What are your thoughts on the 135 vs the 85 1.8, given that the former is around 800$ (used) and the latter is 400$ (used)? I currently have a 50 1.8 and 20mm 2.8, both Canons. Cheers!
Год назад
I didn't like the 85mm f1.8 actually o bought it and gave it back and replaced it. The 85mm f1.2 L II is great and available used for half it's price. The 135mm L is to this day one of the most amazing lenses and I use it since 2015 heavily. I never 5ouched the 70-200 L when I got to the 135L. The 85 is close to 50, so for you the 135 is ideal. I got to Wedding with 3 lenses, wide - 20mm f2.8 or 24 f1.4 or 28 f1.8, the 50mm f1 2 and a Tele, the 135mm mostly or sometimes the 85 L, but the 135 gives you joy every time for years. The 5d is great by the way , I also have one of those here :)
@ thanks for the reply, I'll definitely keep that in mind. The following is all subjective and assumptions from me: the reasoning for the 85 is that it's a bit more versatile (I think) than the 135. I go to car shows and someone I follow used the 85 1.4 from Nikon as his main lens. I figured it would be tight with the 135. That, and the 85's ability to also shoot decent portraits made me think I'd use the 85 more than the 135. I do agree the 135 is (or, in my case, appears to be) unbeatable, albeit being more niche. I enjoy shooting people, but this is a hobby more than anything, so no weddings, mostly streets or candid with family and friends. The extra cost of the 85 1.2 would make me lean towards the 135 instead, or maybe a 70-200 2.8 II; the 85 1.8 seemed appealing due to being able to achieve 80% of the 135's portrait capability while adding considerable versatility over the 135. Next upgrade after the next lens, whether it's the 85 or 135, will be either switch to a 5d3 or 6d depending on prices then. Mostly for better iso, as it seems the 5d is as its limit when indoors. Let me know what you think of that reasoning? Cheers!
Can you say what is your process of developing photos in the Lightroom? You have beautiful warm colors. And how are you doing your signatures on the pictures? Thank You.

I have created a Video Course about the editing how to get images like this in under 20 seconds: www.dirkson-photography.com/produkt/the-20-second-editing-workflow-by-dirkson/
Hello, awesome review. Why don't you use the hood? Too big? Thank you!
5 лет назад
I never use a hood on any lens. It gets too big for me and I don't feel I ever needed one. I am very we reckless with my gear nowadays. No Filters on the lenses, no lens hood and no lens caps. But it all works for years and years :)
Dirkson, I really like your channel. Fantastic hearing and watching reviews/comments coming from a professional photographer based on real life shooting. Have some questions for you: 1. Where is written that a portraits lens is a 135mm or even a 85mm? It looks to me that there is a big hype around these two focal lengths for portraits. But don't understand why and where this came from. Why isn't a 100m also considered or hearing more about 200mm or whatever odd non standard FL besides 85 and 135mm? 2.Comparing this one with the 100mm f2.8 L IS macro which one is sharper in real life? Even if the 100mm is slightly less sharper isn't a good choice compared to the 135mm price wise and versatility wise? thanks.
5 лет назад+1
You will find many videos on my channel where Photograph people with the 24mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4, 50mm f1.8 and f1.2 and as well the 95mm f1.2 and the 135mm f2.0. In my experience any prime lens of those can produce excellent pictures of people. The 100 L lens is a fantastic lens I really loved using. I just rented it but was impressed with the images I got. It definitely is a great portrait lens. I am not big on sharpness so I can't really tell you about it. I shoot all lenses wide open and I am all in for the look, never for the sharpness. I feel that any prime lens works if you are open to it and spend some time with it.
Hi, I would like to know, in cloudy day, like there where you were shooting your site, how do you manage settings, when sun comes and goes, you said Ones that you shoot manual, and in One set don't change the settings, but when light changes?
3 года назад+1
Hi Artyom, that is a great question. I always shoot everything in M Mode and so I set ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture and also the white balance always myself (no auto). Here I have put together an ebook how I do it with only images straight from the camera jpg without any editing - take a look: www.dirkson-photography.com/master/ I change settings all the time, sun comes out, clouds comes up, go into church, get out of church, I usually have my aperture at f2.0 for example and I leave it there the whole day kind of. ISO is at 100 outside when its sunny, ISO 400 when cloudy and ISO 1600 when I enter the church. I only change the shutter speed, but I do it all the time while I take pictures. I do it out of feeling, not scientifically :) Its very easy to do it that way and once you mastered it there is no real advantage over any new camera model for most situations.
@ got It! One more question, I had the 6D now I got the RP , both of them tend to overexpose if you trust the exposemeter, I many times make 1/3 less exposure, do you noticed this? And finally do you mind have a bit of overexposed portion of your foto, despite of the face of your model, like a portion of the sky or the light between the leaves of the trees? Because I try to get over It... :)
3 года назад+1
@@Inspironceb I always shoot manual and I don't look at the metering, only at the image to my liking. You can overexpose and underexpose a lot with any camera today, I don't see a moment where an image doesn't work because of it, even when exposure is off, it still is easy to correct in post.
One of the most underrated channel on youtube...
Your content is to the point, no unnecessary spec talks, direct result, what most of the photographers want to see.
I like the attitude that of being a servant. Most of the most rewarding photography of my life has been volunteer.
So true, the 85mm is a diva, and I sold it. Have the 135mm now, and its a keeper. Actually it was designed by Canon as a indoor sports lens, thats why its so effective at focusing.
An entire video dedicated to street portraits, with action footage and tons of example stills. It's like the perfect photography video. Thank you!!
I bought the Canon 6d beacuse of you, now I plan on getting the 135mm. Great teacher, and as always, well explained. Danke.
Same as me i also sent for one after watching the video and am gonna get a 135 too
Nice I just got my 6d and I love it 🥰
This is a great lens! Wow beautiful images.
The rendition of this lens is remarkable... probably the best 135mm ever made. Gorgeous shots!
Dude you nailed this review. I'm a Sony shooter but picked up a R6 + 50 1.2 L now i'm adding this to the arsenal.
After watching this and seeing your enthusiasm and wonderful images with this lens, I'm buying it. Thank you!
I have it now for over 6 years and it is still the most amazing lens I have, and now i kind of have all of them :)
I recently started my photographer journey and I'd like to say thank you for sharing your work and knowledge. It is truly inspiring and a very emotional experience. I hope I can give others the same joy you do when they see my work in the future. Thank you again and keep the videos coming because they are awesome to watch!
I own the Canon EF 135mm L f2.0. It is magic.
That's a great combination!
thankyou so much for such a detailed review i just love that you show us exactly what to expect with the lense ,
Thank you for your feedback Daniel! Take a look at my channel, you will find many videos like this one :)
I switch from fuji xt-2 with 90mm f2 and complete fix lenses to canon 5d4 last week and this is my lens choice beside 50mm absolutely amazing lens
I m in love with that lens. I use it quite often for head shots. Photos are beautiful.
I like you approach to a street photography. Cheers
Those pictures are SO GOOD! Can’t wait to get this lens!
In love with that lense. You have a wonderful skills taking photos on the spot with regular people. Wonderful.
Thank you very much Peter!
There's no way to express how much I enjoy watching your videos, the content is obviously great but your personality seems even better. Hopefully one day I will get to experience life the way you do :)
Amazing shots Jannis! Really appreciate the way you presented what this lens can offer...
Thank you very much for your feedback!
Thank you very much Fabrice!
Super review with beautiful pictures, I love the lens.Good job .
Thank you!
Like the passion. Good job.
Thank you very much!

@thank you..
Phenomenal pictures Dirkson! And thank you for this unique review, I appreciate you sharing your art with us!
There are plenty of video reviews of this lens, but yours is more like a photography exhibit of the Canon 135 L f2.0. Nicely done sir!
Thank you Charles! Take a look at my channel, I think you will like what you find there :)
One of my most favorite lens is the canon 135L f2, second to 85 1.2L. :-)
Why the 85 1.2 is the second?
I know it's the lens most people reach for, but many people are waiting for the R version someday : )
Not sure i'm looking forward seeing a 1.5kg lens for 3 times the price...
die Pause bei @5:55 :D :D romantisch ;) aber echt super coole Bilder, die Du machst! hab das Objektiv heute bestellt und freue mich riesig!
Appreciated ,such a great review .Not only lens but the framing too..Adorable
Thank you very much! Take a look at my other videos, I think you'll like them :)
Always on point :) Thank you for education and very usefull tips... Love your videos and work.
Thank you very much!
I appreciate you efforts in speaking English. It made this video very valuable and informative to me. Great review. Many thanks!
great job man inspires me to dust off my 135 for the spring portraits!
It is still a fantastic lens even after all these years:)
goodness...your pictures are sooo gorgeous
Absolutely beautiful, this is my favorite lens. Going out shooting today in the park and trying to decide which lenses to bring with. You are so talented shooting while videoing! Love ♥️💋💃👍🏼✋🏼
Thank you very much! That means a lot to me :)
Thanks for the review! Some wonderfull images that you have taken with this lens! I think I put this one on my wishlist :-)
Thank you very much! Take a look at my channel, you will find reviews of many lenses and cameras in this style :)
@ Thanks, I certainly do! I like your style of taking photos and hope that I can shoot one day photos that are as good as yours :-)
Great video! I leaned a bit on how to use this lens, and also how to engage subjects in a nice way. Thanks! I've subscribed now (y)
Great passion dude! Just bought myself the 135.
Hi Dirkson

Man this video sold me to get the 135L than 85mm. Got a mint condition last month. Now im getting a used 2nd hand 6d to partner my eos rp. Thnx man. Subscribed
Hello Dirksón
"... if I touch somebody emotionally.. please drop a comment...'
Then, this is my comment for you :-) 'cause you did it; I was enjoying the vid from the very beginning, these last words of you made my day.
Super review with beautiful pictures. Keep on going!!!
Thank you Tomasz!
Very thoughtful review, human like)))
Great images!
Really cool, how you are able to get this nice portraits with a day light only.
Nice lens indeed, though if I have enough space, 200mm 2.8 L II is my first choice, it is even more contrasty and color fidelity is better due to my taste.
I have to try that 200mm f2.8 L lens. I bought it once on eBay but when I sent the money I never heard of him again - and never got the. lens. Maybe in the next months I'll try again :)
@
I am sorry to hear that. I understand you pain, know it is very frustrating, same did happen to me once. Very difficult no to lose trust in people.
I can send you the lens for a trial, then you can have a better impression if you need this tool in you work or not.
Schöne Grüße aus Bochum,
Alex.
@@alexanderpopov4691 It didn't really matter. Failure is part of the process of success and I got so many great deals with other lenses that having paid and not getting anything didn't really bother much. So it wasn't really pain or a negative experience, I see it as another interesting story to tell :)
Fantastic video! Liked and subscribed. I look forward to more of your videos.
Amazing photos, great review!
Thanks Jannis ! I used to use 135 and enjoyed it , but when I changed systems I did not buy a new 135.
Thanks for reminding me !
Emotionally connected video, You are great human being. You have your own style.Great going stay safe.
Thank you very much! You will find many videos like this on my channel, take a look and let me know if you liked them :)
I also have the EOSR. Looking at this lens here. Excellent video.
Awesome photos!
absolutely great video.
Great videos Dirksón! Photography
I'm looking for a decent telephoto lens for my 6D other than my 85mm.
After viewing both of your videos on the canon 135L and 200L,
I'm still asking myself whether the 135L +1.4 extender or only the 200L would be a good fit for my lens collection.
I would love to hear about your experience with both lenses and which one is more practical.
I love the 135mm L. It is probably the most beautiful image from any of my lenses. The 200mm L I only use occasionally where the 135 L can be used everyday for everything :)
@
Thank you so much for the answer!
Keep it up with your videos
Such a good review! Thank you very much
Thanks Sabina!
Nice video i hope there's video using this lens review
You'll find many videos where I use the lens, just type in RUclips Dirkson photography 135mm :)
Hi Dirkson, great portrait images! You have mastered this focal length. Do you have any videos on how you edit your 135mm portraits? Or you could sell Lightroom presets. Thanks! Greg
Here are all my presets I use - I edit all images in around 5 seconds per image - a video link how to use the presets in Lightroom is included: www.dirkson-photography.com/lightroom-presets2/
One of the last videos I uploaded was about editing the files from the R5 taken with the 85 L II at f1.2. :)
Thanks for sharing so much! I bought the lens.
This 135mm and the 50mm f/1,2L are great lens for portraits !~
Zack Choy do you think that combination would make a good combination for weddings ?
@@dannyklesh off course ..
Better but a 35 mm also ..
@@dannyklesh you don't need both 85 and 135 ..one of them is enough ..but 35,50 and 85. .you can buy cheaper versions also.
Thanks
This man understands the sacred.
thank you Canoe!
You're welcome@
Two questions please:
1) which camera are you using?
2) did you edited the photos?
I am here looking for a lens to replace my 70-200 f2.8 cause this one(70-200) is very heavy and I end the day with some pain in my wrist . You convinced me to buy a 135mm. Thanks for this great review.
It's a great choice, you'll have a great time with it :)
great video dirkson please advise me wether i should get the 24mm 105 or 135mm to start photography business for portrait wedding and corporate pictures
Nice. Thanks
HI I like your video. I was wondering, Is this Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM Lens is suitable for indoor group photo of about 100 people?
photographing 100 people indoors seems a big challenge.
Dude, can you share how you edit these street photo. Your editing was so awesome! I hope I can apply it on my client's wedding photos. Thanks
. Thank you for helping me and convincing me in making a wise choice .
This will give you kind of 200mm on crop cameras which looks great but you need distance to your subject.
@ thanks! Will it be much of a difference if I go for the 85mm 1.8?. Thanks again for sharing and inspiring! Keep up the good job.!
I loved your video!
I love the music you choose for your videos. I know you also create music and I am wondering if this is also your music.
Of course I also love your videos.
I got a 20mm, and a135mm after watching your videos.
Hello. I only have self made music on my channel, I've started to make music more seriously now, you'll find it on spotify "trifalga rises" let me know what you think :)

I will… subbed
Thanks Nice video. What is the minimum shutter speed you keep while doing handheld photography with this 135 mm lens?
Around 1/160 sec. or faster
Hi Dirksón, would you consider the Canon 70-200mm f4 instead of the 135mm? Greetings from Portugal.
I had the 70-200mm f4 L before and the 135mm L is way better. It is in a whole 'Nother league. I always would choose the 135 over any 70-200mm L lens.
2:22, 2:37 and 3:10, how you light the subjects? In the footage, subjects look very dark, many lights behind them (backlit), without any flashes in front to light the subjects , we couldn't get the photos you post in the video clip.
Hi VietKiemTruGian, I edit all images very simply and quickly as I take all images very simply and quickly. I usually shoot without flash (only use it on weddings inside when it's already dark). Images like these are very easy to get in editing. I have created a video Course that shows you how to get finished images like that in Lightroom in under 20 seconds - here is a link for you - there are over 100 RAW files included that I edit, so you can practice to get the same results - in under 20 seconds: www.dirkson-photography.com/produkt/the-20-second-editing-workflow-by-dirkson/
I can send you a download version if you like for 89,95 Euros/Dollars.
Love from Germany,
Dirksón!
pictures are SO GOOD
Thank you very much! Take a look at my channel, you will find many videos like this, I think you will like it :)
@ Sure, because you are a great photographer
Hello sir i appreciate your review, may i ask if it is worth to upgrade an 135mm f2 for portrait?i already have 85mm 1.8
Stunning images ❤️. And how do u balance two cameras like that sensei 🔥
Thank you Shone :)
I finally got hold of this lens after first watched this video 2 years ago to be paired with the still going strong 6d 😁
Purpose wise I planned to used in low light plane spotting 😎
It's still one of the greatest lenses I've ever used and by now I've used everything from 14mm to 200mm :)
@ nice that you’re able to experience different lens (and camera and share user experience with the viewers here.
Personally your 6d video is the one that make me stick to my 6d and use the fund to buy better lens
Also, I actually did used the old 400mm f5.6 lens for portrait of myself 😂 as it was my only lens at that time
Help! Trying to decide between the 135mm f2 or 85mm 1.4 ?? I looking forward to take portraits and full body .. thanks 🙏
Both are great. The 85mm is easier to take full body shots but both will give you great images. You can't go wrong :)
@ thanks 🙏❤️
I do have same setup, canon 6d with 135mm, but it took me a split second to compose and recompose, and i have to use my both hands, how can u so quickly compose and recompose, and that with single hand. Are you seriously composing and recomposing using centre point only? You must be using back button to focus?
I always use the center focus point and then recompose before I push the shutter. No back button focusing, although that can help :)
Use bbf and change your focus point. Too easy for focus plane to shift when you focus & recompose
Cheers!
Do u ever have to calibrate your lens with the 6D so you dont miss focus?
No, I never calibrated the camera or lens combination
Hello, awesome review. Why don't you use the hood? Too big? Thank you!
I never use a hood on any lens. It gets too big for me and I don't feel I ever needed one. I am very we reckless with my gear nowadays. No Filters on the lenses, no lens hood and no lens caps. But it all works for years and years :)
My one produce soft image!!! Any suggestion
What's your seting camera of color temperature in camera?
Generally well done.
I usually Shoot at 8000K
Dirkson, I really like your channel. Fantastic hearing and watching reviews/comments coming from a professional photographer based on real life shooting.
Have some questions for you:
Even if the 100mm is slightly less sharper isn't a good choice compared to the 135mm price wise and versatility wise?
thanks.
Hi Artyom, that is a great question. I always shoot everything in M Mode and so I set ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture and also the white balance always myself (no auto). Here I have put together an ebook how I do it with only images straight from the camera jpg without any editing - take a look: www.dirkson-photography.com/master/
I change settings all the time, sun comes out, clouds comes up, go into church, get out of church, I usually have my aperture at f2.0 for example and I leave it there the whole day kind of.
@@Inspironceb I always shoot manual and I don't look at the metering, only at the image to my liking. You can overexpose and underexpose a lot with any camera today, I don't see a moment where an image doesn't work because of it, even when exposure is off, it still is easy to correct in post.
