I did Ironman New Zealand in 2015 - The course is stunning! I had my fastest IM swim ever there. The bike is slower due to the road material. The run is fuuuuuggging beautiful! Of course, you go faster during this race with the extra motivation of going to Hobiton after the race!
I was racing at Indian Wells this weekend and organizers confirmed that one participant passed away after requiring medical assistance near the swim finish. I do not think the swim conditions were particularly dangerous with water temps at 59F, but this is a stern reminder of the inherent risks associated with the sport we all love.
Omg, I would love for triathlon that Alex would win the Sport personality of the year but when Keely Hodgkinson run the 800 she sealed the deal. She was literally everywhere you looked in Manchester, NQ.
I’m not trying to diminish Mark’s running a marathon in crocks but this guy number 699 ran the marathon in crocks after finishing the bike leg on a cruiser bike in the full Ironman in Cozumel.
Love your work team, but can we make a concerted effort at pronouncing Taupo correctly? Ironman and many of the athletes have really made an effort to do so recently, which is great to see. Instead of pronouncing the Tau part like you would when you say the word towel, simply say 'Toe-paw'. Just think of a foot to help you.
What are your Ironman Taupo predictions? 👀
Knibb and Smith
We might see short course podium only😮. Wilde, Bergere, Geenes…
Honestly hard to bet against Knibb after her T100 dominance. You could argue that the 70.3 format suits her strengths even more.
It's a home race for Kyle Smith as well I think and he performed pretty well in the T100...and Justus Nieschlag could also be dangerous

Someone passed away in the Busselton WA Ironman 2 weeks ago also. They were pulled from the swim but died. Rough swim that day.

Utah boy Connor Weaver got the fastest run Splitz of Ironman Indian Wells this weekend out running Morgan Pearson by 2 mins!
Audio is on point! Great job to audio engineer in new place!

Has GTN got anyone down here for the event?
Sadly not. Friends of the channel, but no one directly working for GTN
Right next time I’d pay for your flights to make sure GTN is getting the coverage
