I'm a Sunderland fan, when Clarke was rolling the ball back in the first minute, it just felt like you were trying some bizarre game plan. It wasn't a great game, felt like whoever puts a chance away wins, I'm happy it was us. Long season, everything could change, you could still be top 6 at the end season. I honestly don't mind Boro for the most part, I wish you luck, just not luck finishing above us.

Everyone who has played us so far, except Plymouth, has said it was their worst performance of the season. We must be just lucky, or maybe it has something to do with our players!! lol I agree, the Hume decision could easily have been a red and he needs to cut out that stuff
RLB susses out teams, his attention to detail and work done during the week off the pitch is amazing, he can see what teams are about, and suck teams into us continue like this and Sunderland will not be far away come Easter.

Lath doesn't look like his head is here, Borges doesn't look good enough always backwards instead off whipping a cross in dangerous areas in the box. Seny's distribution and when receiving the ball doesn't full me with confidence. Hackneys over hitting his forward passes. Slow passing and lack of movement hope Carrick and team can turn it around.
Bellingham will be at Madrid in 2 years rigg will be gone at the end of the season. I thought boro played some really nice football. Just had a look at humes challenge and it was a red card. Hopefully us and boro go up.

Conway is designed to stretch the back line/play on the shoulder making defences turn back towards their goal Doak has done more in 5 minutes than Jones has done in months. Carrick doesn't know how to change a game in our favour home or away. The full back situation has been a problem for a while now, Smith/ Dijksteel/Ayling/Engel/Neto(early days) even Giles to an extent defensively poor. Latte Lath isn't being utilised with his pace in behind. We play too slow too pedestrian too predictable easy for defenders to face up Defenders hate being turned and we don't do it. Don't get the Azaz love he picks up good positions in and around the oppo box but he gets the ball and the pace slows right down. Mcgree is a must! Chris Riggs goal was real individual skill, the talk all week was sunderlands attack especially down the flanks. Surprised Mboro didn't prepare for that. Hume was lucky to stay on, and Mboro were lucky Safc weren't awarded a penalty.
It's weird, in the second half it felt like you really had us on the back foot but whenever you were in our box, you just passed it around. Felt like it could have equalised for about half an hour but you just never took the shots. Not sure if you were just afraid of the counter attack but that really felt like our press last season. High up the pitch, lots of aggressive possession but completely toothless. Not to say our defence was bad because our back 4 have been solid almost all season but it seemed any potential strike was instead passed to the right winger. Hope your forwards find their mojo soon. As long as it isn't against Sunderland, I always hope for a good result for Boro
Your season will kick in, I honestly believe you will get in the play offs, as for my team (safc) I’ll just enjoy the ride, as a 51 year old like managers always say try not to get too high. Great podcast and my manager(boro fan) will not be happy 👍

For most of the second half we were in your half-only at the end did you press. Maybe we defended well-look at our record- other than Plymouth we don't concede many. You also seem oblivious that we created more than one chance. You gave Rigg little credit and it fell to him because we had two in the six yard box. It could have been a red, it was a penalty and tehre were some bad fouls by Latte in retaliation. The penalty,shout the post, the goal. three big chances? Boro were pretty good so lighten up. You wont play sunland every week.

As I said, Rigg took the goal well and Mundle was unlucky with the free kick, I did credit your defending 2nd half as like I say we could have been there all week and not scored. Your defence has been strong all season long so in hindsight it might not be as bad of a result for Boro once the seasons done, but from a Boro POV it’s a culmination of seeing this week in week out, and their being no sign of it changing. I mean I’m always gunna approach it more from a Boro POV but take nothing away from how you guys set up today, I think setting up vs Boro is predictable but Le Bris executed it perfectly, like he seems to have done all season so fair play
I'm gonna point you to the last half of last season. The boro have just swapped places. Sunderland were the stand still wooden tops, load of procession but couldnt score in a . ..... well anything. The boro have just started the same this season. Feel sorry for your no. 5. . He proper put in a shift but his defenders were back with the u12s team. As you say a fairly easy game for Sunderland to sit and defend. a time for the manager to reflect on a petty poor and lacking invovation boro.
Had Conway scored it would have been a totally different story. Missed another decent chance after that too. Sunderland defended their lead well and clever finish. We are missing VDB, Howson, McGree and Forss. All big players for Boro. Forss always does it against Sunderland and hes still the best finisher at the club. Much prefer Azaz as the 10

Just so frustrating knowing that Carrick is not going to make the right decisions in terms of selection and player positioning, and then subs - always seems to get it wrong in my opinion. How badly does Jones have to become before he'll make a change in the starting lineup? I can't remember a single game that Azaz has played well on the left side. He's much better as the number 10. And why oh why is McGree not starting, or being brought on so far into a game, that cries out for his energy and creativity. What is really going on? We pay £36 per game to watch such garbage. Plus, what on earth was Edmondson doing with his foot on the ball for about an entire minute at the start of the game? Are we paying to watch that!!! ARRGGG, it's driving me insane!

Don't let it get to you, my policy is enjoy the game , desperately want us to win but soon as the game has finished fuck it. I have cried when I was a kid after relegation and promotion but it won't alter my mood nowadays. I'm trying to impress this on my two grandkids now, enjoy it but don't let it rule your life. I took the little boy to about 20 away games last season and he is obsessed but I keep saying to him just enjoy it. If he has a game the same day as boro I would much rather him miss the boro game just so other things are at least as important. He already wants to miss his game for Norwich end of Oct so I'm not doing to good a job haha. It probably comes with age when other things become more important to some people, keep the faith, look at the betting we are still third favs to be promoted and the bookies are usually there or thereabouts mate, UTB

Your point about RLB changing his tactics for the Boro game, was spot on, and it was clear he'd outwitted Carrick & Boro, when just after kick off, when your defender Edmundson stood with his foot on the ball, for what seemed like an eternity, fully expecting our players to rush in to press him, though when we stood off him, and kept our shape, he looked stupid, standing motionless with the ball under his foot, going nowhere & doing nothing with the ball. We were happy to concede possession, knowing Boro had no end product and are toothless in attack. Given time, Carrick might well get you back on track, though he may have to change the way you play, to do so.

as a sunderland fan at the game i think your summary of the game is pretty fair,.. i was fully expecting trai hume to get sent off so was surprised to see him escape a sending off. however when i got home and watched it back on youtube ya see your player jump into it in a two footed challenge which is also a sending off offence,.. did i see that right
Our season improved last season only when Cobburn was picked.Sadly he has now gone.He offers a style of play which allows other players to be effective
