- Since Nate Van Dyke dreams of Coro's face every night it came as no surprise when he chose him to be the subject of his inking demonstration with Massive Black. It was also no surprise that he asked Coro to be a co-host since they used to work together in the same office at Shaba Games. This video features two veteran artists and friends discussing a variety of topics ranging from drawing materials, men's lips, and the amount of control that an artist has over the final piece. Also included are many jokes, gratuituous use of the word "dude", and bonus drawing footage without voiceover. If you're easily offended you might want to stay away, everyone else please enjoy.

i wish more artists did this. I love the commentary
the way its shot reminds me of the 'manben' manga-making documentary
Well done.!!
Those Brush Pens are sick!! I love em...
wow that rough brush pen is awesome!
what is it called or brand name even?
Nate is a GIANT. I thought they stopped making them huge after Bisley. AWESOME demo!
I've watched a few of your vids now and this is by far my favourite and in my opinion the coolest. Maybe, I hope, in a million years I could be this good.
Amazing!!! one of my fav artist, the look of the hair on the finished piece is unbelievable, what i wouldn't give to achieve that level of work even just once in my life lol
awesome piece
I need that hair pen, that would save a crapload of time.
Stellar (did I just use that word?) as usual, seriously, maybe my favorite subscription.
Oh yeah, and he dwarfed Coro.
Absolutely astonishing.
PHENOMENAL! Thanks!
simply amazing!
great and interesting as ever!
amazing
awesome.......
Really cool.
very very nice
Can you please share some details about that hair brush pen? Also, phenomenal video! The honest and open dialogue over the time lapse is a perfect combination.
Are those weird pens and brushes actual things you can buy or are they something he just rigged up? That's pretty genius stuff!
Did you ever find out the name/make/model of the pen? 7 years time difference between your comment and today. Lol!
WOW!
real artist
great stuff guys, thanks!
I would love a tattoo by this guy
@TheFlightOfMurphy I'm sure he uses pentel, and the hard pilot brush pens. Hi-Tech-C pens for the little lines. The damaged brushes are anyone's guess.
@N8vandyke I can see that. Each fits with the way they're acting. Good call.
Guys, that is an awesome piece. Do you guys work in animation biz?
I totally think that rake like brush is a normal thick brush pen that's just completely blown out from drying. If you have an old brushpen, try refilling it and try draw with it.
Sooo cooolll!!!!
Pls whats the name, type of that pen or what is it pls help! 1:11
Great work. Seriously. I've never seen that brush that you used for the hair. What type is it. I'd like to pick one up to try for myself.
whats the pens he uses. especially the brush style ones at the start?
Did you ever find out the name/make/model of the pen? 6 years time difference between your comment and today. Lol!
fucking amazing
very very good

eres la tola vato la netha simon!!!!!
looks like breaking bad!! this is wonderful!!!
Very cool video!
@MassiveDVD Hey do you guys have an art piece published in Copic's little booklet. the one you get when you order some markers? I was wondering cuz I saw this style of inking in mine and I swear i think it was from you. By the way, that is so sick! >.<
you can make one. get one of that size and just take an exacto knife to it. I chop up most of my brushes like that.
I want this video so fucking bad.
sick!!! as hell
amazing!
GA-REAT!
Looking good!
its a pentel brush pen, with somesort of modified cartridge. they dont come like that im not sure what he has done to it!! they are slowly becoming more available, about £3 each. google pentel color brush, you can do some awsome things with them. yoji shinkawa of metal gear solid uses that brush also for his illustrations!!
damn thats awesome
Can someone tell me whats that brush that Nate is using at 4.45 doing the eyebrows?
@cartoonblock massive black studios, an outsourcing agency, more or less a freelance agency that takes jobs for sony or videogame or movie productions.
it may or may not be a "rake brush" but i think it's an abused brush that was just left out to harden and used as hatching.
What's that fanned ink brush called or who makes it?
Did you ever find out the name/make/model of the pen? 7 years time difference between your comment and today. Lol!
@@newbietubie LOL nope.
what kind of paint brush is that.
I got an almost identical effect my taking a cheap round water color brush, loading it with ink and working it with my fingers into that shape. Messy and repetitive, but makes some really awesome effects! (obviously)
And yes, I stole it from this video. :P
I have N8’s artwork on my arm. The man kills it every time. #FAHQfamily
What's the thing called that he's using at 0:46?
nice.
i like how n8 knows he'll never get the portrait from coro.
could anyone tell me what the shading pen is called? THANKYA!
Did you ever find out the name/make/model of the pen? 7 years time difference between your comment and today. Lol!
newbietubie dang what a blast from the past! I did but I can’t remember the name of it off the top of my head as I don’t really illustrate now.
@@Andygharrison Thanks anyways.
Muy bien bros
@N8vandyke OMFG amazing=N8 Van Dyke
Lol nice xD
i have been looking for ages to find it, so annoying if anyone knows pleeease tell me
Hair pen = squeezed flat Pentel brush pen.
oh and just to keep you informed youll need to modify the bristles to get that effect!! either buy two (so one you can abuse and turn into a pretty ugly thing like the one he is using!!) for example i know that shinkawa uses damaged brush pens... just to let ya know :D
Rake brush
try doing this in photoshop
is it just me, or are these guys stoned? ;D awsome work though
TELL US THE GAY ASS BRUSH NAME JEZZUZ
The guy on here is irritating.. *not Nate lol
haha this is pretty much the dumbest remark i`v seen today on youtube. Lol at this one
This isnt hard to do with those pens and your art already traced out with pencil.. But very nice work
very very good
