I didn't discover Tristania until just before Vibeke Stene left the band. I didn't discover Draconian until after Lisa left. I really need to find these bands while they're still together. :)
Look at what you said there. Beauty and darkness. Two sides of a coin that can never be truly separated. This band mixes both very elegantly, because humanity is full of both beauty and darkness.
Men, I'm a fucking Metal Extremist and I'll never forget that I started with this... It's totally beautiful listen to this band years later ...

A closing sanctuary in this shimmering night; So tired, so restless under an ominous light I found myself in thoughts of dying, Shivered in bitter dismay I see you there; and I wonder why The silence does not break Away, please turn away. In my dreams you haunt me still. Come, please come my way. In my life I need you still. The morrow-winds shall blow no more So many pale moons ago; A flower of death did grow A closing sanctuary in this shimmering night; So tired, so restless under an ominous light You found yourself in thoughts of dying, Shivering in bitter dismay, I see you there; and I wonder why The silence does not break Away, you turned away. In my dreams you haunt me still. Come, please come my way. In my life I need you still. To blossom in the deepest of black, And thus we die to flower again "I keep your memory near my heart, My brilliant, beautiful guiding Star, Till long life over, I too depart To the infinite night where perhaps you are." A rapture through the dirty glass, Cutting myself to behold another spring So I became the exile, unable to (sustain) love, Smiling at Death and unite with my solitude To finally turn the blooded page I pray these tears will end soon, But you just left me lying here I wasn't ready for the world... Still, I was thrown in there
Does anyone else get the sense that in Draconian's music, the male vocals seem more prevalent than the female vocals, or is it just me? Don't get me wrong, the male vocals are really damn cool, but I'd like to hear more of the female vocals 'cause they are absolutely beautiful and one of my favourites.
I'm not sure if that made sense. Both vocals are awesome, I just feel like one gets the spotlight more often than the other, and that's fine, I guess, but it is something I've noticed.
You seriously can't forget to mention Johan Ericson...Anders surely makes the lyrics, concepts and provides vocals (and does it greatly), but it's Johan who composes all their music. :)
@witheredheath909 what made this band special is everything from the lyrics and the playing to ever member in it made it special i say Lisa will be missed but that doesn't remove an ounce from Draconian's awesomeness as jack black say it ;)
Yes, since the mastermind is Anders Jacobsson behind the songs. ;=) I' m sure they will find a great replacement, since there are many talented singers out there.
@ThyHoneyNut And no, when I hear that a band has christian themes in it, I search a bit to see what kind. For example My Dying Bride uses them but not as propaganda like HB or As I Lay Dying uses it. MDB is an atheistic band and uses references from bible to create music and not to make propaganda like the christian bands. I think that christian bands are a little bit narrow minded when it comes to making music simply because there are much better themes out there than the christian one.
@ThyHoneyNut Heh, I actually love satanic bands such as Behemoth, Carpathian Forest, Mayhem, Gorgoroth, Enthroned, Emperor, Archgoat, Belphegor, Dark Funeral, etc Dunno, I can't listen to christian metal, my mind rejects them completely, but when it comes to satanic bands, boy I am really curious.
@ThyHoneyNut You mean underground metal because there is also mainstream metal which is popular. No, I haven't been taught the way you think because stuff like heaven and hell are also christian inventions, since I don't believe in it, there is no such thing as heaven or hell for me. How many christian bands are there, I dunno, but I think there are many, since there are many christians...and it does not have anything to do with religion, rather with freedom of choice and ideas.
@MsMetalNote In my opinion music has nothing to do with religion...whether people listen to christian metal or not is none of my concern. I am atheist, I hate christianity from head to toe, and I cannot listen to christian metal, I see that more as a propaganda rather than music. Some of the best metal bands deny christianity. To create art you need to give up some stuff that places limits on culture, ideas and concepts, one such thing is religion, the worst thing that happened to humanity.
@Kalimdor199 I'm sorry but "metal" bands that are mainstream aren't really metal. And i understand what you mean. but music is music...and lyrics are lyrics. Born of Osiris has some Satanic references but I'm not going to NOT listen to them just because of what they believe or don't believe. Although i guess i could relate to you as straight edge propaganda pisses me off
@Kalimdor199 "i cannot listen to christian metal, i see that more as a propaganda rather than music" so....then music WOULD have something to do with religion. I think maybe you just hate christian metal, because you've been told that "if you don't believe this, you will go to hell" and that's what gets to you. you don't see THAT many christian metal bands.. and propaganda? nobody makes christian metal so that they'll get big. Metal isn't that big in the music industry, let alone christian metal

Why do I always find an undeniable beauty in dark songs such as this? Perhaps the concepts go hand and hand.
Look at what you said there. Beauty and darkness. Two sides of a coin that can never be truly separated. This band mixes both very elegantly, because humanity is full of both beauty and darkness.
Symbolism my friend and you both described it perfectly
Gawd Lisa's voice is amazing!
Great band! Great song! The vocals remind me of early Opeth

+Nik Z the whole mix it's just outstanding.
Deathman oh, I totally agree with that. It sounds incredible.
+Nik Z this song specially Lisa does an amazing vocals job, that's why maybe you got that feeling about the male vocals.
I'm not sure if that made sense. Both vocals are awesome, I just feel like one gets the spotlight more often than the other, and that's fine, I guess, but it is something I've noticed.
the female vocalist is Dazzling....Enchanting

Nice Content & Work, i guess that makes them immortals!

i love this song too!!!
Exquisite!!
You seriously can't forget to mention Johan Ericson...Anders surely makes the lyrics, concepts and provides vocals (and does it greatly), but it's Johan who composes all their music. :)
Composer is always main because music can exist without text.
Amazing
