I cringe every time I hear you say that he paddle shifters should be located on the steering column and not the steering wheel. Both my Porsche and my Audi have the paddle shifters located on the wheel, and I am so glad they do. When in paddle shifter mode and you are cornering or leaving a stop sign removing your hand from the wheel to located the shifter is a big pain and IMHO completely not safe. But thats just my opinion. Love your show
You did probably the most interesting explanation ! However I believe this is an apart car for specifically refined people. And I would like to believe that some part of Ian Callumn's sole transcended into this vehicle ( if we remember the outstanding XF concept in 2007 ) And finally achieving that goal starting with 2021 models, where the quality is good / excellent. Would be glad to see an outstanding review from you a XJ or F Pace or E Pace ;) Thank you.
Love this car, for those of us considering Acura TlX, Volvo S90, this is a strong contender and an excellent price. I don't want a car to take to the track, I want a comfortable sedan with a large trunk and the sweet spot of 300 horsepower.
I have always loved Jags and aspired to own one but you are correct. At this point they do not have any cars that I would want to own. The XKR was great but to expensive. The XJ had amazing presence. A long time ago Jag used to offer beautiful cars that were one price point below the competition. That value proposition no longer exists. They need something striking and different enough that we all cant help but lust over.
I'm smitten by the Sportbrake. Didn't know it existed until I wondered about Jaguar wagons. The options game is little fun, you basically want all the options. But it seems to work out 10% lower than an equivalent BMW 5 Touring. Until Mercedes offer an EQE wagon, the XF seems about the nicest option if not in a big hurry. An AMG wagon is fun, but all the teenage Moroccans in my street seem to have one already. A Jag is a nice personal choice.
To my knowledge I have never discussed or recommended a Jaguar. I have always favored vehicles from “Deutschland”, especially the Porsche Brand. I suppose this bias could be a result of memories from my youth when Lucas (British supplier of electrical equipment to British car manufacturers) was known as “The Prince of Darkness”. For those of you that are much younger than myself, my comments might not make any sense. I apologize.
I’m 28 and now on my second XE (only cos the first one was written off), and I can tell you they’re absolutely terrific cars, and perfectly reliable. I know about the ‘Prince of darkness’ myth - I’ve got a ‘67 MG too - but I can tell you the new Jags are German levels of reliable, only with better handling and are much prettier… I still get people saying ‘wow, what’s that’ and ‘beautiful car’ in my 5 year old Jag… try getting that in a 5 year old 3-series.
@@alfrede.neuman9082 You won't get that in a 3 Series for sure. I've received in two years way more compliments on my XF (X250, LCI, 2014) than in 11 years on my BMW 6 Series (E63, LCI, 2010).
The "Prince of Darkness" tag came from the fact that they made light bulbs for cars, which were not very reliable. But most bulbs weren't reliable back in the 60's and earlier, and carrying spares was essential. Also, there were few other large car bulb manufacturers around in the UK back then.
@@alfrede.neuman9082 Absolutely true. I had a 3 series some years ago, before there were as many BMWs around as there are now (so less common). It wasn't reliable either, always in the dealer's workshop. Yet I don't remember anybody ever stopping to talk to me about it. Same with the 5 series I had more recently. With the XF I have now People are always stopping and asking me about it, especially when I'm out cleaning it - and more people seem to let me out than when I've had the BMWs before.
@@gssf.gr29 Very true… German cars might be great, but they have very little soul or personality. When I drove the equivalent 3-series to my Jag, I was NOT that impressed… the jag is definitely more of a drivers’ car. I do like the Alfa Guilia, but I was hesitant just because here in Australia, Alfa dealerships are VERY rare, whereas JLR dealerships are everywhere.
Here's one of your female viewers - and one who loves the Jaaaags. Devastated to see Jaguar stop production of all models bar the F-Pace in June 2024. I will miss the F-Type most, but this one second.
That 45k USD P250 RWD base model is a hell of the bargain after factoring the typical deep Jag discount! If you want something that is able to keep up with your every neighbors 5 and E on the drive way, and something different, and save 10k-15k USD, then this is it! CT5 is another alternative, but not quite be able to make your neighbor head turn while they are in their 5 and E
The XF's exterior is the best in the class, bar none, while the interior is also quite attractive particularly in white. It's kind of hard to understand where this is positioned though; the chassis and engine lineup disappoint enthusiast consumers, while JLR's horrendous reputation for reliability and faltering brand image amongst general consumers make it a tough sell to anyone but the car enthusiast.
People are not buying the bigger engined cars so there's no point selling them. As for the so-called reputation, it only comes from people like yourself who keep repeating it. In reality it doesn't exist, as almost every owner who comments on just about every Jaguar video keep telling you all.
What is the general consensus on the brand itself? The LR side seem to have no problems with finding new owners, they literally seem to walk out to the showrooms!! But what of Jaaaaag?
In 2015 Jaguar really simplified the XF lineup when basically everything was fully loaded with almost no options (just AWD). This BMW a la cart pricing is infuriating and being 4 cylinder only it’s dead to me. XF Premium 2.0T: $50,175 XF Portfolio V6 S/C: $57,175 (AWD +2,000) XF 3.0 Sport S/C: $57,175 (AWD +2,000) XF Supercharged XFR XFR-S
The Jaguar XF is very handsome, understated, elegant, magnificent interior, it has tasteful materials, distinct, you will not see it often in the streets. However, it deserved a V6. To me, luxury mid-sized sedans should have a luxurious engine, and I4s are not it.
Weird review. 300hp from a 2 litre engine isn't too shabby at all, neither is 0-60 in 5.8 seconds which is similar to the 3.0 V6 so I don't really understand the problem. I guess if buyers in the US had bought the earlier models in larger numbers, they would get the new car with larger engines, but with fuel prices on the increase, many people are downsizing and aside from that, exactly how much power do you need? I guess it's not really a car for the US and in the UK and most of Europe we don't have vast stretches of open road to play with and fuel is ridiculously expensive, so 2 litre or less is the norm here. By the way, the ZF box works brilliantly in the F-type, don't quite understand why you had a problem with it. Not as good as a 5 (series?) or an E Class? I'm guessing from what you were saying you're comparing the models with bigger engines, so not really a comparison at all. Not sure why you're criticising the trim color either, you don't like it you choose a different one. Options are the same on most cars, you add them or you don't. Most manufacturers are the same, keeps the base price down. You really nailed the fact that you don't have a clue what you're talking about at around the 12 minute mark. It's not "kinda dated" at all and never has been, most commentators even agree that the original model still looks relevant today. Yours has to be the one and only in-depth review anywhere that didn't like it. But you have to recognise that as they're going all electric with a complete new range in a couple of years - more about that later - they're not going to throw a lot of money on completely redesigning what will likely be an outgoing model now. You didn't quit though, even after admitting you've never even driven one, you decide that the interior was terrible, the build quality was awful, start banging on about the use of plastics and the poor tactile feel, despite the fact that there was probably more leather in there than any other car in its class, along with a good helping of real wood and aluminium (to give it it's correct spelling). The infotainment system, as they are known now, wasn't really a fully fledged infotainment system in 2008 and while it wasn't the quickest back in the day, it does the job, and few cars had them at all in 2008. Then you start complaining about the steering wheel controls then didn't really say what the problem was other than they have haptic feedback. Paddles on the steering wheel? My impression is that most people prefer them to turn with the wheel rather than have them fixed, as almost every car review of a car with fixed paddles, well they complain about them being fixed. I wish reviewers would just review the cars instead of having a personal opinion on everything and slating everything they personally don't like or agree with. The weirdest part was the ending. You note that Jaguar are going all electric, but then complain about the direction in which they are going - without actually having any clue about the direction in which they are going, unless you know something the rest of us don't. Who would buy this over a 5 series or an E Class? I'm guessing you're comparing it with larger engine models again. Compared to the equivalent size engine I would, because in my opinion it's a better car. But then I own an XF so I know how good they really are.
Funny, I just put an order down for an f-pace svr... they finally fixed the interiors in their cars. I tested x3m, glc63, and macan turbo; I chose the jag. I don't get how people like the current bmw interiors, they are so bland and outdated, plus the ride is pretty harsh. Mercedes had probably the best interior overall but i'm just not a fan of the look of the car. Macan drove the best but the interior, though high quality, feels quite dated. Plus where I live you throw a rock* you might hit all three. The Jag was a blend of all these that oozed character (thanks to the exhaust). Hope you get a chance to drive an svr.
Their whole mangament needs to be fired immediately. Only 4 cylinders, WTF. The F pace on the same platform is offered with a new I6 engine they developed expensively, a PHEV drivetrain, and even with a V8, they could easily offer the XF with all those engines and would sell much more of them, most buyers won't even consider this car just bc it is only offered with a 4-cylinder, absolutely insane!
How do you think the management teams families would be affected by your suggestion of their abrupt firing? Many households would suddenly be in dire financial situations thanks to your cold hearted assertion.
Totally wrong. V6, V8, supercharged, they were all available in the US and people didn't buy them, hence the reason they've now been dropped. The US is a niche market unfortunately, in the UK and most of the EU buying prices are considerably higher mostly thanks to tax, fuel prices are extremely high (twice what they cost in the US), and we don't have long stretches of open road to play with like you do, so large engine cars are unaffordable and impractical so anything over 2L makes no sense.
Hard pass. My daily driver is a '17 XF-S with AWD and the supercharged 6. I have had this for several years now and plan to keep it forever. I truly love my car. A 60k XF with a bolted on iPad and a 4-banger is "no" all day long. But make no mistake, I love my car. It has reinforced my belief in JLR.
The XJ was nicer, especially the older model, but Jag has never seemed to be able to get their reliability up to par. In terms of luxury, they're near the top.
All of Jag's stuff is old. Reminds me of the 90's. The bones are old. That said they are transferring over to BEV on the entire line. I wrote this early in your vid so you may mention that if so ignore me. Im to lazy to delete.
16:50 The only reason you buy this over the germans or anyone is that you want to stand out and be different from your peers OR, you just love the brand. OR, your a fool and you did not look around just buying the first thing you found on the lot which happened to be THIS.
All jag buyers bought for the engine, now u take tht away and put sth smaller than what avaiable in a mazda3T/k5gt for a (usually) high price and complain people dont buy and take it as an excuse to build electric n suvs. And Watt I thought XE was most popular by far compared to xf, very sad its gone.
How much around Europe do you travel? What people don't get is the likes of BMW, Mercedes etc. have far more models on the road so there's obviously a lot more of them. Their loss anyway, I'd take the Jag every time.
The fact that there isn't some sort of electrification or even the Ingenium I6 available really hurts this car. That's a shame. It's also a shame that they've put a bullet in the head of the all-electric XJ that was in development. Like, Jaguar...what are you doing?
I have a 2011 Jaguar XJ SC and a 2012 Jaguar XKR and I would not buy this at all. Why? No JagUar should be impossible to get with either an inline 6 or a V8. Those engines are what make a Jag a Jag. With a 4-pot in there, its just a boring 530i or E350 and who gets emotional about either of those??
Very nice upgrade inside and out.But there's ONE major flaw. This new 2021 generation is lacking in real horsepower. In my honest opinion,a car on this level should carry at least 300hp.Until then,I'll go for the competition 🤔

0:30 The last time i spoke about Jag was w/ the 18 XE. I found it to be quite good.
We only went to a Jag/Landrover dealership recently because one had just been opened near us
I own a Jaguar XF 2018, stunning car and feels great to drive, not as boring as a VW and not as stiff as BMW. I think Land rover got it just right.
Interior with its quirks like the folding air vents are stunning and very minimalist. Nothing bad to say about it so far for me.
Love your show
The XE does exist still and has just been updated for the rest of the world…..just not over there in the US.
Awesome car. Shame there's no SVR, but hey. We still get the XE in the UK btw.
Nope, it started with the original model in 2008.
More attractive, than the German rivals
@motoman what do you think of the ipace ? That was meant to be the new electric vision of a Jaguar. It seems they didn’t sell that well in the USA.
As a guy who has historically been a sports car guy I’ve been bitten by the Jag bug. You can get so much car in the used car market right now.
Love this car, for those of us considering Acura TlX, Volvo S90, this is a strong contender and an excellent price. I don't want a car to take to the track, I want a comfortable sedan with a large trunk and the sweet spot of 300 horsepower.
Imagine a Project 8 powertrain in this subtle and classier look, unecessary? yes, but it would be a great sleeper!
It certainly is the right color!
Speak for yourself. Most of those of us who did buy one wouldn't have anything else.
Can Jags be reasonably tuned?
Here's one of your female viewers - and one who loves the Jaaaags. Devastated to see Jaguar stop production of all models bar the F-Pace in June 2024. I will miss the F-Type most, but this one second.
That 45k USD P250 RWD base model is a hell of the bargain after factoring the typical deep Jag discount!
If you want something that is able to keep up with your every neighbors 5 and E on the drive way, and something different, and save 10k-15k USD, then this is it! CT5 is another alternative, but not quite be able to make your neighbor head turn while they are in their 5 and E
The bare Jags don't seem to have much as standard. You all but need to pay an option to get blinkers.
Love this design to bits, though.
The interior looks classy and cool.
What is the general consensus on the brand itself? The LR side seem to have no problems with finding new owners, they literally seem to walk out to the showrooms!! But what of Jaaaaag?
Just read what owners say about them. Everybody who buys a Jag loves it, myself included. Especially the XF.
Amazing so reliable and mines 10 yrs old they don't age
What can I say....I LOVE JAGUARS...
I already have one but trunk space is making me look at Lincoln
Jaguar's state of sedans is a shame. No more XJ, no more XE. The only offering is a turbo 4 XF. After 4 XJs Jaguar no longer makes a car for me.
I think I’ll buy this in December when it’s discounted to mid 30’s-40k
its sad that they nerfed it bc my 2018 XF has 385 hp
In 2015 Jaguar really simplified the XF lineup when basically everything was fully loaded with almost no options (just AWD). This BMW a la cart pricing is infuriating and being 4 cylinder only it’s dead to me.
XF Premium 2.0T: $50,175
XF Portfolio V6 S/C: $57,175 (AWD +2,000)
XF 3.0 Sport S/C: $57,175 (AWD +2,000)
XF Supercharged

XFR-S
I love my xf, just magnifivent
It's a magnificent car for sure.
I certainly would
The Jaguar XF is very handsome, understated, elegant, magnificent interior, it has tasteful materials, distinct, you will not see it often in the streets. However, it deserved a V6. To me, luxury mid-sized sedans should have a luxurious engine, and I4s are not it.
Love your idea of an electric retro. Absolutely they should do that
It took years to get away from the retro look, which held Jaguar back for years. It wasn't until the XF came out that they finally broke the mould.
Shame you never had the XFR…..and how about the iPace for “something different”?
They stopped making the XFR in 2014
10:30 LOL because they want the extra money cause most buyers opt for it jacking up the price allowing them to advertise that low low base MSRP.
Jaguar was a luxury brand long before the Germans came along.
Long time no see motoman!
Really? We do three episodes a week!
Who throw's a rocket? I mean really....
@@JulezWinnfield Superman probably does, and yes I am Kent Clark
@@moose9004
Was it Superman or Clark Kent who edited rock(et)?
Your first 40 sec intro you describe me, :)!
I think this interior is better than the 5 series and caddy
I tell you what its missing - the fake engine sounds that German cars play at you through the speakers!
Jaguar xf dynamic car need to delivery location at MUMBAI, BANGALORE city.
My last memory of a Jaguar was in 2018 when a new Jag was sitting on the side of the highway with smoke coming out from its engine.
The ionic will remind everyone of the 2012 volt in about 3 yrs 😂
They've done a great job of the engine though, it's as fast and powerful as the old 3.0d V6.
I just did! 2024 model year😀
8 month wait🤨
The XJ was nicer, especially the older model, but Jag has never seemed to be able to get their reliability up to par. In terms of luxury, they're near the top.
All of Jag's stuff is old. Reminds me of the 90's. The bones are old. That said they are transferring over to BEV on the entire line. I wrote this early in your vid so you may mention that if so ignore me. Im to lazy to delete.
As we say i Britain…..rubbish! The platform isn’t any older than the Germans and the whole range has been refreshed.
@@markcross6864 Agreed, complete and utter garbage. Funny how comments like this always come from people who know nothing about them.
16:50 The only reason you buy this over the germans or anyone is that you want to stand out and be different from your peers OR, you just love the brand. OR, your a fool and you did not look around just buying the first thing you found on the lot which happened to be THIS.
It's an eye candy.. It got class..
title gets me every time lol
All jag buyers bought for the engine, now u take tht away and put sth smaller than what avaiable in a mazda3T/k5gt for a (usually) high price and complain people dont buy and take it as an excuse to build electric n suvs.
And Watt I thought XE was most popular by far compared to xf, very sad its gone.
The 4.5% is definitely some kids on their moms account
You dont see many of them on the European roads.
In an ocean of BMW, Audi and Mercedes that's a great thing.
Agreed.
I did buy it
Time for redesign
Having owned Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW and Audi I can honestly say the German stuff is over hyped in particular Audi !
I think the brand Jaguar has enough stigma behind it that I would personally never buy, nor recommend one to a friend
The problem is it's exactly comments like that which are creating that stigma. How could you recommend anything anyway if you haven't owned one?
The DRL looks like GTIs’
And 5 Series LCI.
Im a female that loves cars especially ones with high hp
The RWD version is better suited for this platform. Much cheaper too.
Options on options on options.
bravo 🐆
I almost bought this car. Went with an XC60 instead.
Oops!
Jaguar is ripping people off by the optional after base price of $50000 . I have one
I don't have any friends I hate enough to suggest buying a Jaguar ;)
You think you're funny, but you're not. The XF is an awesome car with a timeless Ian Callum design.
Its a dang shame that Jaguar exterior designs write cheques their interior designs and management can't cash.
Very nice upgrade inside and out.But there's ONE major flaw. This new 2021 generation is lacking in real horsepower. In my honest opinion,a car on this level should carry at least 300hp.Until then,I'll go for the competition 🤔
I’d Rather Buy A 2017 Jaguar XF 35t
This car is begging for the I6. I can't understand why they wouldn't offer it and then expect this car to make it. It makes NO sense at all.
I6 apparently doesn't fit under xf hood..
I have not driven one, unimpressed as a passenger...too ignorant to invoke a conversation for ownership.
