Ben brings something into his music that the music industry (and society in general) sadly lacks in spades... authenticity. Thanks for the music Ben.

Probably because most music today is algorithmicly created using software, as humans we love particular notes and melodies they just add lyrics to the same bs over and over, no soul, no feeling.

I came from Wales UK to see you in Nashville 2019. Do well. My Youngest son died on Christmas day past from cancer aged 22, I think of him as I listen to your songs. I'm sure you have done some very, very bad things as have many men, but it's about who you want to be. Being a useful person was all my son ever wanted to be. He was to be a vehicle recovery technician in the army.

I’ll say, I saw Ben in WV last week & for someone so tough on himself infront of large crowds, he put on a hell of a show. Also managed to get a picture w/ him before his set. Such a cool down to earth guy.

i’m only 15 minutes in but wanted to comment on ben talking about the larger crowds and distracting people who aren’t really there for the music. i attended their show in 2019 while on a trip in austin TX. the performance was super intimate, everyone was singing along and locked in, it was incredible. i had never heard of LDSB but that show made me fall in love with them. i was so excited to see they’d be in wisconsin in 2020, i bought tickets right away and the show got postponed twice due to the pandemic. finally saw them in april of 2022 and the crowd was so fucking awful, loud and disrespectful. it’s like they were just all there to party and the music was only background noise. i felt horrible for the band. they absolutely did not deserve that. so ben, if you’re reading this i want to apologize on behalf of madison WI. i’ll travel to see you where the crowds don’t suck next time.

I haven’t even started into the interview yet, but I was browsing the comment and this caught my eye! My husband and I have talked about this very thing. When we first started seeing them; the crowds were extremely attentive. But the some of the last shows we’ve caught in Nashville, less so.

Often success comes with maturity yet maturity also ends up changing the performer and taking the passion and soul out it. I think that is why often after a good 2-3 albums performers never have another good album. Tyler Childers is like that. People can say he is as good as ever or even better, but all his output after Country Squire doesn’t equal half the Purgatory album. So… If Ben wants to take some time off I hope he takes off all the time he needs. I’ve noticed Ben has been listening to the old Hank Williams Honky Tonking music in his little RUclips videos.
Oh man Hank, Randy Travis, and Jason Isabell is one hell of a list of folks to be inspired by.

I really feel what Ben is saying about no longer relating to the songs of his past. Hell, it’s hard for me to listen to some of those songs, just because of where I was in life when I first heard them and related to them so much. Seeing him come out on the other side of that nihilistic despair is inspiring.

New insight is provided to us on his views, experiences, and wisdom earned through his life. If you are the second type of person I described then I have no idea why you would take offense. Either way, I am not sure what my ego has to do with either case.
