- Join us as we visit Bern - the beautiful Swiss Capital and a gorgeous city with magnificent buildings and a stunning turquoise blue river.
Known as the city of fountains, Bern is nested in a narrow U-turn of the Aare river. The historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving more of its medieval appearance than any other Swiss cities.
Bern is home to over 6 square kilometers of arcades covering stylish shops & eateries, towers, and 16th-century fountains. It is also Albert Einstein’s hometown where he developed the Theory of Relativity!
We started our tour of Bern with a Foxtrail treasure hunt of the city commencing at the Central Rail Station. After a trip on the tram, we discovered a vending machine for breakfast! We saw the Bear park, walked through the beautiful streets of the Old Town and saw the Zytglogge Clock Tower built in the early 13th century.
We also got to discover parts of the city on this Foxtrail foxtrail.ch/ that we never knew existed - petting zoos, insect hotels, a bridge where people can jump from to swim down the river and more!

This is so much FUN indeed.
(1) I do work in this city (not live, not being a native ...) ... so it is fun to see what you visited and listen what you say about it. It made me smile, indeed. Because you are so honest, so direct, so neutral :) Much of you is different as I see it, so different eyes when you walk there in you lunch break compared to you as a non-European. Indeed, it is fun to see it with your eyes. Big compliments.
(2) I did give you a compliment for visiting Maputo (Mosambik) but also stated critically that it were not the typical places and the true atmosphere of this country. You might remember my comment. It is fun that we share a couple of travels, impressions, ideas. And I do understand that Swiss cities might give more safe feelings walking around than African. So still nice what you visited there. I recommend to you (as I do myself too) to get back again to a city ssome years later :)

I'm sure since Mozambique is so big there are many places that would have a more authentic feel. We'll have to go back one day especially to enjoy their beaches!

I'm from the US and we used to have this where you could walk among the animals at petting zoos (Catskill Game Farm was a great one)....and then (when did it happen?) 1980s maybe? people started suing if they got hurt and simultaneously Government thought that it had to "protect" us (for our own "good") by passing the usual slew of laws that stomp out all hope of having such a thing. I want to open one...
Oh yes. It’s so crazy because things got out of hand in America and everything is so restricted these days.

I like Bern because it's smaller than Zurich. But Zurich has the beautiful lake to enjoy.
