rocket was top chassis builder 20 years ago .i had one and tried to call and get help in late 90s and cause i was a peeon with old car they wouldn't return my calls .lets just say my old friend freddie helped me and when i go back to Florida and race again definitely going with a CAPITAL they always answer phone no matter how old you chassis is .
AHHHHH ..... I LOVE The Holiday Season.... Fresh Race Car parts for everybody !!!! What an amazing interesting place to visit , how it's grown over the years 👍👍👌..... Sure nice to see all the boys busy 🏁🏁🏁
Thanks so much for taking us with you to Rocket's shop. They have a nice setup for sure. That race shop and toter and trailer setup is something most guys just get to dream of having. I hope you got some of those new smashed shocks for the 21 season. Hope the updates to the car help you to be up front next year. We got to be sure we get a good Engine to put in that thing!!
Well that confirms it .... I have a lifetime addiction far beyond my budget ..... SWEET Dreams of XR1 under my tree 🎄🌴... .. I used to think ALL the GREAT drivers were just like me .... LOL 😁.... Ya know , put pants on one leg at a time .... 😂.... I was soooo wrong.... Those fellas definitely jump in both legs at same time 🙂😱 😂
That was a great video. I have seen the GRT shop. It is going to be a great year for your team. Keep up the great work. I also watch Hunt the Frunt check them out if you get a chance they do a lot with a small team like you do. I helped build cars for 4 years in the early 90's and I do miss it. Have great day thank you for the videos.
I think I saw a video where they only build them 1 new car every year. Unless of course they total one out but for the most part they will have 1 brand new car starting the season
Rocket1 Racing @Rocket1_Racing · Jun 10 First one was our crate car from a few years ago. The middle one last ran in 18 it has over 160nights over 13,000 laps racing and testing 2016-2017-2018 and over 1.4 million in earnings. The last one is a new car we haven’t raced yet.
Heck yea you were in my neck of the woods... I remember when mark got that company started their colors were red and Tim "The Hit Man" Hitt drove for him
I have mixed feelings about Rocket “ the evil empire”. Just like any facet of life now, Capitalism is/has become a case of the “have and have nots.” That being said Richard worked his ass of to grow Rocket. I still feel every basically used CJ Rayburn ideas honestly
No need to feel like that because on dirt track racing the conditions are constantly changing as long as you're not out of the horsepower game you got a fighting chance and old CJ knew what he was doing l love shity track conditions that throws everyone off their game plan and a brand new rocket chassis can be beat by a older chassis
Those Panels In The Beginning Of The Video Were Probably Laser Cut With The Laguna Laser Machines, That Can Cold Cut And Hot Cut Anything From Paper,Lexan,Steel And A Lot Of Other Materials, Depending On The Model Of Laser Machines
I bought a ticket at 311 Speedway in 2002. I saw a jacked up setup for the first and last time. I haven't bought a ticket to see a dirt late model since.
Smash is short for dyno'n or setting pressure or spring rate, without scaling a car. At least this has always been my understanding. Which I am sure that people can add more too the meaning of spring smasher.
Yes. That way we can make spring changes without changing the balance of the car. Also helps us know exactly what wheel load works better or worse. Can see what the car is doing at dynamic load since the car is never at Ride height on the race track. Really really helpful tool
@@GentryRacing629 well I can see that. The thing that is missing for me is the fact that when scaling a car or making a change. One thing that was always made important too me by some truly good chassis men was too unload the same amount in the opposite corner like if you put a round in the LR, you would take one out of the RF for example. Which is the only thing I would have a reservation, about solely using a spring smasher
@@TheCrewChief374 we still do the whole take or add rounds. For the rf we always check the 3 1/2 and 4 in number wince thats where it spends most of its time. Lets say when you smash the rf with a bump stop your load number is 2300 lbs at 3 1/2. Well the car would never be able to do that on the track cause the car only weighs 2350, it physically couldn’t move the rf that far. So it also helps see if whatever shock spring combo you have will even work. With the LR we check extended load at whatever droop number. Its a very interesting process lol
Ryan, I really enjoy your station. I believe you purchased the car used, do you believe that the car was needing these repairs from the start? New shocks, new quick change, and I am sure some updated advise from the good folks at Rocket?
Thanks John. Car got bent a little in the wreck from Oakshade. I believe it was good from the start when I bought it. Quick change isnt mine ...I picked it up for a friend.
GREAT video . I live about 45 minutes from there and have been there a couple of times but I have never seen that much of the shop before . was that Paul Wilmoth in the shock shop ?
Great video as usual, but not as good as your race footage lol. Hey bud how nice would it be to walk in there with a blank check? All we can do is the best we can with what we have. I believe you get all you can and then some out of what you have. Someday maybe take care bud and stay safe.
Ryan thanks for the great video, One thing when you seen there car carrier and walked inside the living courters I'd like to know what " CLOUD " were you on???? Me would of been on the Moon if there were clouds there..... Thanks again
Trying to compete and race with that can almost make you want to sell out LOL

Good for you.
Fast Freddie and his family are the best and build one hell of a chassis they always give the big timers fits

Welcome Nash!
All throughput the 90s and early 2000s rocket chassis and I79 speedway (was across the road) was my old stomping grounds.
My question is, did you get pepperoni rolls while you were in good ole West By God Virginia? Best snack in the world
Them places are cool ! Just amazing how they produce that many cars ! I’d rather see those shops instead of a NASCAR shop !! Thanks for sharing !!
Thanks Stacey!

Surprisingly no one swiped that off the trailer in the middle of the night
Awesome shop tour and very gracious of Rocket to show us around as well.
What year is your Rocket? Does a Late Model chassis typically get updated annually. So Shepherd had 5 complete cars for the season?
Yeah but they are like 2015, 16, 17, 18, 19.....he doesn’t have 5 brand new cars. Only two of them have motors I am pretty sure.

And now it has 2020 updates correct?
Great video Ryan! I'll chip in a few bucks toward a new toter for you.

Do you just spray paint the repairs / additions or do you have those sections powder coated somewhere?
Normal just spray paint powder coating individual sections is dang near impossible
Just spray paint
