    Mac Mackenzie
    I usually don’t comment on Line about my diabetes ( not much)but I was looking at your you tube videos and extremely impressed with your great presentations. I have been a type T1D for 70 years (seventy) before at home blood testing, boiled our needles , syringes and sharpened needles on a stone etc etc. been on a Medtronic pump for 20 years and very unhappy with the 770g system with sensor accuracy which has taken my A1C from low 6’s to near 7. i was looking for a better system and a diabetic trainer put me onto a dexcom g6 and showed me a new tandem which I am getting the first of the year. My Medtronic’s warranty is up then. I started looking for Tandem pump info and came across your RUclips channel and it is best info I have ever seen on diabetes. All of your info is right on and i relate with everything you cover. great info for newbies. If you ever want to talk let me know, I dont get much of a chance to communicate with T1D. Thanks again for your info. Actually have tried to message you on FB. But want to tell you how great your info is as long as I have had T1D have never had anybody relate info like you have. It’s like you are reading my symptoms. Thanks Mac Mackenzie

I'm very excited for you to start your Tslim/Dexcom G6 combination - it's the finest on the market at present I think! I'm sorry about the FB message - I'm not very active on FB so here is the best place to communicate, I hope that works alright for you! Please please please accept my sincere gratitude for your amazingly kind words and know how much they mean to me given your vast experience with Type 1 Diabetes - absolutely incredible!!!!!! Wishing you the happiest and healthiest New Year ahead!!! 🌟

    For getting rid of test strips: I recently started getting an old empty strip tub, and either pulled off the label/stuck like paper tape over the label (meaning it visually looks different and has a differenr texture to the box with strips for in the dark) and using this to dispose of strips. This also takes the same amount of time to fill as it does to use a box so you can also just dispose of a whole tub of strips while they're in the tub still.
    And its not too bulky

    I just happened upon your RUclips channel, looking for help with Tandem t:slim (received my first ever pump on Monday, overwhelmed). So many great videos! I'm already feeling better about being 'tethered' to it. Thank you!!

    • @ShesDiabetic
      @ShesDiabetic  2 года назад +1

      Oh wow!!! Welcome to pumping and to the Tslim!! You've made an AWESOME choice in the Tslim (in my opinion!) it's the best one on the market at this moment in time!! I hope it's all going smoothly and thank you so much for finding me and watching and commenting!!!! Welcome to the family here my diabuddy!!!

    • @friedelpas5637
      @friedelpas5637 2 года назад

      I believe that the TSlim will help you a lot with managing your diabetes. I have the pump now 4 months and had a control of the diabetes team last week. Now I have 90% time in range and a Hemoglobine A1C of 5.5% as result of switching to the Tandem wint the control IQ software. Before it was about 82% time in range and Hemoglobine A1C between 5.9 and 6.3%. So very clear that with the control IQ software of tandem you can manage your diabetes very well!

    • @friedelpas5637
      @friedelpas5637 2 года назад

      @@ShesDiabetic The control IQ software is awesome indeed. Otherwhile I could not get the results after 4 months that I mentioned in my response to Julie Martyn. The infusion I have more problems with those available off tadem then I used with the medtronic and as well the tandem as the Dexcom result in a lot of garbage. The ideal pump would be the Tandem sofware and the medtronic infusion sets but that not exists and the software is still the most important aspect of this and so you best always choose the sollution with the best software!

    Have you ever had to wait days to receive a replacement pump? My adult son has had several break. We are waiting at least 3 and a half days to get the new one to replace our current broken pump. It will not consistently deliver insulin and it won't allow a new reservoir to be put in. It is also screaming (or was ) because it is out of insulin. Tandem is a good pump but it seems to get glitchy after awhile. For us anyway. So if you have had to wait for a new pump and you don't have another pump lying around to wait with, how did you wait it out with only fast acting insulin?

    • @friedelpas5637
      @friedelpas5637 2 года назад

      I believe they have to replace it in 24 hours. At least here you can do that via hospital or the supplier for all pumps over Europe. We have also at home always quickpens in the refrigerator to solve such moments with as well lantus as short acting insulin and can call 24 hours a person from the hospital to get help when you are in such situation. At least that is the situation in Belgium with a great support of the diabetes team!
