This has got to be one if the most down to earth interviews. Absolutely wonderful to hear his actual insight where he isn't occupied with how he says something or explains. But one thing he is very clever about is not giving everything away. Thanks for this. Will be Re-watching this. And of course cannot wait to see only god forgives.
Great honest interview, and if anything the fact that Refn was absolutely wasted for it probably helped out. And he definitely is to all those who are saying he isn't. He's slurring words, the crazed hand movements, and just compare this to his other interviews. It's nice to hear a director honestly speak out against the kinda money making ethic behind film making which often is more important than the actual art involved.
Dude, he's so fucking hammered in this video, but it's hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. Kudos to Alex for handling all this with a straight face. I would've been laughing hysterically throughout the interview with the type of answers he was giving.
Glad you had a good laugh, dude. But the only thing Refn's hammered on is cinema. He lives movies with an artist's passion. An ingeniously gifted, articulate filmmaker. In a class entirely his own. It's the interviewer, Alex Billington, who can't keep up with Refn. Granted, that the intvw's been uploaded is appreciated. But it's AB's lack of chops, about life AND cinema, that's "hysterically" obvious. That Refn has the patience, generosity & class to abide by such a clueless clod is admirable.
Refn's stated multiple times that he doesn't drink, but he seems soo drunk in this interview. His english is falling apart and his answers are so strange.
I love this guy to no end! Especially in this interview with his whole Italian mobster track suit and sunglasses gettup

this is a great interview. Well done, man.
Great interview.
The way he gesticulates and acts hyper about editing is kinda adorable and eccentric.
GREATEST. INTERVIEW. EVER.
this man has so much passion
Awesome director!

I've seen most of his interviews online and this was the best because it's the real him
Refn doesn't drink, he's just like this.
in case you're wondering: its the interviewer.
I absolutely love this guy. I knew he would be this interesting after seeing Drive.
Ramones live on.
Genius!
He speaks English better than 70% of the native English speakers. So clear.
That's what a film maker is supposed to be like.

He speaks two languages he's esl so don't expect a good hard American accent
Well the best filmmaker's are like this, they say what they believe. How else would you expect to make art?
what documentary are they talkin about in 16:53?

He is a bit drunk, happy drunk, nothing wrong with that. He's in the sun in cannes having a great time, good on Refn.
The interviewer seemed nervous to say the wrong thing. Kinda intense.

Is every girl in Cannes a 10?

he's kind of a creepy guy, but a genius nonetheless...

The interviewer is no match for Refn. Fun to watch, thanks.
