For REAL!!!!! As an uneducated and disabled 21 year old, I feel like I should be jealous😂😂😂but he’s too wholesome for allat, all love and respect Dylan😎🫶
Dylan is so badass dude. I think he gives some of the most sophisticated takes out of all streamers and talking heads in the independent media sphere and he’s one of the youngest recognizable dudes in the space.
About another war crime footage Russians posted. Russians boasted about killing 6 guys, posted the video, but those guys were civilians and family friends. Older dudes, extremely far from the frontlines coming back from work. They executed them, robbed their bodies, and rigged them with explosives to kill people who would come to burry them. Was in the north, done in Russian incursion. Its on a video, they bragged about it, and it took multiple days to recover their bodies
So impressive and moving -to me as someone who grew up in Poland and follows this war non-stop, it's so touching to see the young people in the US do such deep ,informative AND caring work about Ukraine. I cannot thank you enough. It makes me so angry that this level of analysis is not what every major network is playing. It's not that hard to present the truth -like you do . The fact that it takes volunteer journalists to do this work is a condemnation of our media , in my opinion . I almost never listen to them any more, I got too frustrated by the platitudes and lack of the clarity and depth that your show has. Hats off to you. Never give up !
to be honest, this is just the natural course of the internet and independent journalists. If the "mainstream media" provided the same job and did the same, "deep informative and caring work about Ukraine" , then these indepenendent journalists like Dylan would not be able exist and would not exist. So there is always a more complex nuance to these issues, and I think the MSM needs to be cut some slack, and be less vilivied, especially by the Left, since they still do serve an extremely important role as the 4th estate, which the right wing is trying hard to destroy. Both Dylan and MSM can exist and provide distinct service and value to a free and democratic western society.
@@raidermaxx2324 I still remember BBC in February 24, 2022 reporting from towns in West Ukraine hit by russian missiles and saying 'some explosions' NEVER actually mentioning russia. It's insane how biased media is at white-washing russia. Before 2022 they also ALL reported on Kyiv from moscow hotels. ONLY ever had russian perspective on THEIR invasion, never asking Ukrainians. Imagine if western journalists reported on WW2 from Berlin and their sources on Poland were the SS command. This is what CNN, Times, WaPo and others did for years and many STILL DO.
Fun fact about Lassan: Despite looking like an idiot after he was wrong about the invasion and did his little apology/cope stream, he has continued to push misinformation about Ukraine since then. He did it when he talked with Marianne Williamson and claimed that Boris Johnson ruined peace talks (he didn't peace talks were dead after Bucha was discovered) and he did it when claiming that striking the Kerch bridge is a war crime (it's not), but has said nothing about the numerous serious allegations against Russia including war crimes/torture they have filmed, alleged use of chemical weapons and the constant strikes on civilians far away from the frontline.
You mean when he said he was wrong about Russia invading Ukraine? Because I wouldn't call that an apology. I remember him yelling at his viewers who disagreed with him about Ukraine, wishing them to die on the front lines defending Ukrainian borders.
I watched Hasan segment, and they are actually to nice to Hasan. Hasan said he wouldnt talk to anybody from Ukraine (after dylan's video) because they are traumatized and therefor cannot engage in the topic.
@@michaelwoller6450 Yes but the real analogy for Hasan is this, Hasan's logic means listening to Palestinians is pointless because they're too traumatized by the conflict to have a reasonable take.
From the hippy dippy screaming matches back in the day to listening to this, Dylan's communication skills have improved astronomically. The way he responded to the "why Ukraine?" question was so succinct and contextual and passionate and I can really see a bright future for him in the journalism space.
@danielgadomski5129 Clout is a hell of a drug. The lengths people go to achieve it is sad. Dude gave himself PTSD for some Likes and follows. I fear for the younger generation.
One of the most profound discussions I've ever seen, thumbnail/titling could've been better. Dylan is the real deal, all three of these people extraordinary humans.
I hope this is a joke. Destiny is the least profound intellectual I've ever been exposed to. He operates really well in his space but all he is capable of understanding is what is in front of him. He exclusively makes logical models for prediction based upon the information he has gathered. He is utterly incapable of engaging with concepts that transcend the immediate reality of the human experience and reality itself.
Enjoyed every moment of this. I hope Dylan is a recurring guest on Bridges in between his travels to and from Ukraine. Fantastic dude with solid insights into Ukraine and the war
Am i the only one that is starting to not like destiny on these podcasts? He keeps interrupting dylan and other guests and it doesn't seem like he has a posture of learning but that he thinks he already knows everything so whatever he says he thinks is going to automatically be more valuable than whatever the guest is saying
@@syndicalistspeedsolver I actually thought this was one of the more pared down appearances of Destiny on these podcasts, or in general - yes, he did some of his usual Destiny-isms, but overall it was one of his better appearances. On that note: I think I have read that Destiny has been diagnosed with ADHD, and as such, I can forgive a couple of his bad habits - some of them are exceedingly difficult to change, with such a diagnosis. I will admit to a certain bias btw, since I have ADHD myself, so I can see how annoying some of the things Destiny do, can be for most others.
@@predabot__6778 Yeah I guess I didn't think about that that might be the cause of the destiny-isms. He has been on Vyvance for I think a year now so maybe it doesn't take away that effect of ADHD?
I think the respect people give to anyone who just said, "fuck it Imma go and do it", is beyond years of experience. I think that gives you all the cause you need to not care about the negative reaction to your youth and inexperience. Just keep doing the best you can and report it as you see it in the most unbias way possible.
I hate the people who talk about how "expensive" supporting ukraine is. First of all the idiots who see the monetary value placed on equipment and munitions and think that's just money that evaporates from their countries. Second of all we will have to rebuild Ukraine at some point. Having a wartorn destitute country on our borders will create issues for us in the future, so we either give them the means to fight, or end up paying 20 fold in the eventual reconstruction. That's not even considering what happens if russia actually conquers Ukraine, which would be the the most expensive for NATO by far.
I have a friend who said he hated Biden because "He caused the inflation through sending 300 billion dollars to ukraine". I think the total spending allocated to Ukraine at the time was at 40 billion. I almost had a fucking stroke that day.
Jesus christ, sorry for the spamming. Switched to my PC because my phone can't fucking reliably post comments. I had a friend who said he hates Biden because he caused the inflation through sending 300 billion dollars to Ukraine. This was before the 2024 aid bill. I almost had a fucking stroke that day.
The TOTAL amount the US has given to Ukraine over the ENTIRE war, amounts to 1% of the military budget for ONE YEAR. Not for the duration of a presidency, but 1% of *1 year* of the already allotted military budget has funded another country’s entire war. Ukraine isn’t taking money from any American, the government is.
I had reason to think Dylan was young but not THAT young. I can only respect someone who puts their money where their mouth is and immerses themselves in something they feel strongly about to be as informed as possible. Commendable.
I feel like support for Ukraine is really high First so many Canadians have Ukraine background and that shows in the volunteers I think we have US political rot spill over Similar to the trucker protest which was against policies which had over 80% approval
@@michealjaymurphy You know why there are so many Ukrainians in Canada right? They are the descendants of SS(Nazis) members who were resettled in Canada by the UK. Not sure this is a great look.
I liked the banter with Dan at first, but it gets old very quickly. Especially when there's a guest and 85% of the time it's just shit talking between destiny and Dan.
It’s so cool seeing Dylan go from wrangling dummies on Hippy Dippy to covering a massive conflict on the frontline. He’s found his calling and I couldn’t be more happy for the dude.
I am appalled by the historical illiteracy on display when people say supporting Ukraine is too expensive. This is a) a cost-effecitve (albeit suboptimal) way of degrading the Russian Federation. And we are still only dripfeeding equipment for some reason. I mean, this is cheap and effective comapred to the financial disasters of Afghanistan and Iraq; b) the cost of appeasement is WW3, frankly. And that on a continent that harbours the US' richest and most powerful allies.
A certain political party severely slowed our aid to Ukraine for almost a year. Another thing too is we’re mostly giving away older stockpiles. That stuff has to be taken out of storage, checked for deficiencies before being given to Ukraine. I’m in the army. Currently every week, I have to check 2 hmmvs. One is fine but the other is iffy, it won’t start on its own. Stuff like that takes forever to fix. The hmmv has had failures to start for over a year looking at the records. The engine was replaced multiple times, etc. If that hmmv was part of the aid package, it wouldn’t be shipped. Slowing the aid we promised and “drip feeding” as you say.
Problem is, it isn't working. The Russian economy is growing. Their military, while having lost and will continue to lose some materiel, has wound up its domestic MIC and the money they are pumping into it, unlike the US MIC, is dumped directly back into the Russian economy. It has also in many ways hardened the Russian economy against the west. We thought sanctions would kill their economy. It didn't. All it did was force the Russians to re-orient their economy towards China, and the rest of the "Global South". Which makes it basically immune to sanctions. Their army is also starting to absolutely dominate Ukraine. Our goal was to degrade the Russian Federation. Ok, so we helped Ukraine destroy a few thousand AFVs (tanks, apcs, and ifvs). Ok. The Russian economy is stronger now. It is hardened against sanctions. It is more self reliant now. They have forged closer economic alliances with China, India, and other giant economies that don't give a flying F about Washington foreign policy and geopolitics. Their army is getting much needed training, seeing as it hasn't fought a conventional war since WW2. So yea, mission accomplished
Funny, the only people who say that the alternative/"cost of appeasement is WW3" are the same people who have been wrong about every single foreign policy situation in the last few decades. But don't worry guys...this time, they've totally got it right and they really have our best interests at heart for once!
Huge respect for Dylan! 🇺🇦 🤝 🇺🇸 As Ukrainian I never heard about thisguy but after watching this interview I must subscribe to him now, thank you for the interview.
As a Bosnian, I remember visiting family in maybe 04 or 05 and one morning I woke up and heard a kid in the town stepped on a land mine and died. Bosnia was the most mined country in Europe, even if they win Ukraine will continue to suffer.
I loved this episode, but I have a nitpick. I don’t like that the thumbnail is “Hasan called me perverted.” It’s way too drama focused, when that’s hardly what the episode was about. I think it should be something like “I did document a war crime.” (2:05:03) Anyway, slava! 💙
Dylan's debate with some online guy who said Russia didn't do war crimes and asked for Dylan's source was hilarious when Dylan was actually getting shelled at. "The source was me!"
@@richardarriaga6271 yup, like that copypasta: "Do you consider russia the enemy"? - "they bombed my home so yeah" - "sOuNdS yOu'Re MaKiNg An EmOtIoNaL aPpEaL, i asked you *why* they are considered the enemy"
You fly to Poland and either take the train, which you need a Ukrainian to buy the tickets for you online (and good luck at the desk on Przemysl if you only speak english), take a bus, or you know people who you can grab a ride with to drive in
Can somebody define "genocide of russians in Donbass"? Do you mean russian speakers? Then why there was no genocide in the biggest russian speaking city of Ukraine Kharkiv? Was it genocide of russian citizens? Can somebody give a verifiable example of that? People keep pointing out that Donbas voted for yanukovych in 2010 because he was a pro-russian and would bring Ukraine into russian sphere of influence, but one of the biggest yanukovych's promises was EU association, which he bailed and that kicked off maidan. Also, can anybody give an example of any support of secession of the Donbass prior to maidan? It's quite unbelievable that in just 4 months since maidan started, a grassroots movement to secede was created in Donbass while the biggest Donbass oligarch that owned like 80% of Donbass was not supporting secessions because he knew all his assets would be basically stolen from him by the new rulers.
Preach it, brother. Kharkiv also voted fir Yanukovych in 2012, and yes this was before he reneged on the EU association agreement which his own parliamentary party condemend him for.
Only idiots believe the Genocide claim... 70% of Ukranians speak Russian. Yatsenyuk wanted to kill 70% of the country? Then idiots at the Gravel Institute tried to claim that separatists started the war over a language law... that was proposed in 2019... 5 YEARS after it started. Glad they shut down.
They will point to violent riots in Odessa that led to few dozen deaths. And count every single death, Ukrianian and Russian sheelins of populated areas, including the shooting down of the Malaysian airliner as "shelling Dombass for 8 years"
@@adamhall5298 Why do you think Yanukovych went back on his campaign pledge to pursue the EU? Could it be because the EU was going to give Ukraine a terrible deal? "Yanukovich estimated that he needed $160 billion over three years to make up for the trade Ukraine stood to lose with Russia and to help cushion the pain from reforms the EU was demanding. The IMF, like the EU, was unwilling to grant the sort of loans Yanukovich wanted under a new program. In a letter dated November 20, it told Ukraine that it would not soften conditions for a new loan and that it would offer only $5 billion, Oliynyk said. And Kiev would have to pay back almost the same amount next year, he said, as part of repayments for the earlier $16.5 billion loan. Oliynyk, who is Ukraine’s permanent representative for NATO, and others were furious. He told Reuters that when Ukraine turned to Europe’s officials for help, they “spat on us.”" - source, I can't link it but google "Special Report: Why Ukraine spurned the EU and embraced Russia" "Public opinion is also divided when it comes to Ukraine's possible accession to the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus that Moscow intends to mold into a Eurasian Union. Forty-eight percent of participants were in favor of Ukraine becoming a member of the Customs Union of the former Soviet Republics. Thirty-six percent are against it. These results don't differ much from the July poll. EU association is still largely supported in Ukraine's west and center (64 percent), while Ukrainians in favor of the Customs Union mainly live in the country's east and south (59 percent)." Source, again, google the following "ukrainian-support-for-eu-association-agreement-declines" it is a DW (German) article in english. So no, Yanukovych votes actually preferred a customs union with Russia. Lastly, the Euromaidan protests were not even supported by a majority of Ukrainians. "About 45% of Ukrainians support the demonstrations in favor of Ukraine’s closer relations with Europe, known as Euromaidan, while 48% do not support them and 7% are undecided, a poll of 2,600 respondents" Source, again, google search the following, "Poll: More Ukrainians disapprove of EuroMaidan protests than approve of it" this is a Kyiv Post article. This article shows that, the country was still divided STRONGLY long ethnic/cultural and linguistic lines. This whole thing kicked off when the EU gave Ukraine a laughable deal to join the EU, while demanding reforms that Ukraine couldn't afford to make on its own. Russia instead came in with a much, much better deal, and the country was very much divided over which route it wanted to go. So Yanukovych took the better deal, that HIS electorate preferred. What happened next was, far right nationalists with nowhere near overwhelming support kicked off a protest that eventually led to the overthrow of the government. Which then in turn moved to disenfranchise the entire eastern part of the country by kicking THEIR guy out of office, ILLEGALLY according to their own constitution. So yea, little more complicated than you made it sound.
Dylan Burns is exactly the type of person I love to see on Bridges. I very much enjoy these conversations about world events without unnecessary political commentary forced into the subject. It actually felt refreshing to learn some things about the conflict without divisive negativity.
One thing I’ve picked up on recently is the far left is just as bad as MAGA when it comes to spewing false information and putting on blinders to false narratives. If you want to hear some crazy shit, go listen to Destiny debate lefties on Rittenhouse during the time it happened and see their performative outrage based on nothing. They constantly spewed false information based on nothing but speculation almost the same way MAGA followers do when trying to defend some of Trumps outright criminality. For example, MAGA won’t acknowledge that Trump committed crimes that he’s now having to face the repercussions of by going to trial and instead say it’s a political witch hunt. MAGA does not represent conservatives or the Republican Party as a whole. Lefties were trying to claim Rittenhouse was a psycho murdering white nationalist because Kyle supported cops via blue thin line iconography and went to protect a city that he and his father worked in at one point with a gun and that him being there was justification enough for him to be chased and beaten by a crowd who were mad he tried to stop them burning down a city by intervening in a dumpster being put on fire. They don’t represent liberals or the Democratic Party. Just like ISIS is a radical party of the islam movement. Just like the radical section of Ireland dealing with terrorist car bombs. Just like Jews dealing with a nationalist state and government. Just like Palestinians dealing with Hamas within their territory. Every group has its extreme members. Our goal should be to ostracize and exclude these extremists from the party and not be a safe haven for them to hide.
Did not know about this guy at all, fricking awesome, love his documentary clips they showed, gonna watch a lot more of him. I hope the best for Ukraine
Holy balls on this dude, I remember seeing him years ago thinking 'whos this little upstart', now bro is living in a warzone by choice, fair play to him.
Hasan mischaracterizing Dylan in that way is insane. Hasan always laments how all reporting comes through main stream sources, but you have a guy like Dylan out there talking to real people and real combatants that he could EASILY collab with and bring more nuanced independent reporting to the forefront. But it's all about clout with him, the only reason I think he treated Dylan's that way is because he considers him an "orbiter". Dylan's temperament and work ethic is way way way beyond his years, excited to see his path forward.
Sadly I think you’re right. I don’t think Hasan is ideologically bent he’s just simply an egoist who cannot resist projecting a confident attitude to topics he’s essentially cresting the Dunning Krueger curve about. This happens to all news reporters. Gell Man amnesia.

I once had some sympathy with the idea that Russia was poorly treated following the collapse of the soviet union. That started to end 2014 and was completely lost in 2022. I still remember cycling across Ukraine in 2012, most people I met wanted to move closer to the EU and europe but still considered Russia as a brother country. The last time I was there in 2017 the understandable anger against Russia had completely changed the nature of the country. As an ally of Ukraine, we should encourage the country not to move towards political extremes in the future as a reaction to Russia's war crimes as this remains a risk. The US has been involved in unjust wars, especially the second Iraq war, or even the false flag operation to start the vietnam war. This has effected the imagine of US legitmacy when they have acted justly. This can't be ignored, a country operating guantanamo bay should at some point appologise for its mistakes in order not to appear arrogant and hypocritical.
You can’t platform “the good”enough…. I’ve been aware of Dylan for years now and really love when he gets to speak to larger audiences. He’s so young and focused. We need more brave and motivated young people to do what he’s doing. And while he rambles too much imo on his political videos, this is really easy to listen to. Maybe cus it’s not as toxic and gross as politics. And also not over covered…
Dylan’s brief double take at 2:05:09 is an interesting, small window into what time near a warzone does to the mind. Sitting comfortably in a peaceful city but still taking a second to check if the distant thunder is mortars or artillery out of habit, then switching back into interview mode as soon as the threat assessment part of the brain is satisfied.
@@autumnleaves7907 So is perspective. It's easy to dismiss this for clout, but he's still providing insight. Hasan sees the world through the lens of anime. One Piece, for example, has convinced him that terrorist organizations are filled with Monkey D. Out of every commentator I watch, Dylan is definitely the best person out of all of them. There is nobody, who isn't a disingenuous liar, that has a bad word to say about this guy.
The elderly residents choosing to stay in a dangerous area reminds me of a scene from the Chernobyl miniseries. As the authorities are evacuating all the civilians from the affected areas, an officer finds an old farmer who refuses to leave her land. She says she's stayed every time men with guns have demanded they leave. The Tsar's men, the Bolsheviks, the Axis troops, Stalin's men, etc.
Thank you for getting Dylan Burns, Destiny and Erudite. A lot of the psychological thing Burns mentioned could also be used to understand how different groups of Taiwanese will act during the future war; it will also explain how people will simp for PRC when it happens.
The Hasan clips remind me of the time he said 'The Ukrainians should thank the Russians for the bomb shelters they hide in' the guy is the most disingenuous person online, he says stuff for attention. I am still waiting for someone to bring that clip up, it went under the radar because he says unhinged stuff so often, but it was the week after the LSF mods blacklisted any negative clip of his so it wasnt picked up.

The TOTAL amount the US has given to Ukraine over the ENTIRE war, amounts to 1% of the military budget for ONE YEAR. Not for the duration of a presidency, but 1% of *1 year* of the already allotted military budget has funded another country’s entire war.
Dylan Burns has balls of steel. What plane does he use to get to Ukraine? A C17 Globemaster?
No, he takes the resurrected Antonov-225
Probably flies to Poland than travels by train
Boeing starliner.
C17 is a Globemaster and there are very few C17 flights that go directly to Ukraine especially now the missiles have escalated.
He told Reuters that when Ukraine turned to Europe’s officials for help, they “spat on us.”" - source, I can't link it but google "Special Report: Why Ukraine spurned the EU and embraced Russia"
"Public opinion is also divided when it comes to Ukraine's possible accession to the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus that Moscow intends to mold into a Eurasian Union.
So yea, little more complicated than you made it sound.

i once thought i was a leftie, but no- i was a liberal all along.

“Waiters” is terminology that needs to be imported to the Israel/Palestine conflict
Only 50 minutes in. This is an amazing podcast
His career should have ended that day.
Rob went from reading a paper to reading a review about a paper to asking an AI chatbot to give him arguments from a paper for a debate to bullying an AI chatbot into giving him the interpretation he wants
Awesome work Dylan, stay safe!! Ukraine must win democracies around the world depend on it, including our own.
