I don't like the notion that all games have to portray everything, but the Battlefield series does have a habit of withholding specific stuff from their portrayal for no apparent reason. I didn't buy BF1 when it was popular and I'm only now learning that the Russian dlc doesn't include the Caucasian front, very weird considering Turkey is already in the game.

The DLC was primarily Russia vs. Austria-Hungary based, with three AH maps, on Germany map, and two RR maps. What they did wasn't inaccurate at all. DICE probably wanted to give the Austrian-Hungarians a bit more of a spotlight, because iirc, they were on a few maps in the base game.

In ww2 female soldiers were way more uncommon in the western Front, in the eastern Front ( which is almost never shown) female soldiers were used in most of cases, due to huge losses9
I'm half Russian half Hungarian. My Russian great-grandfather was a ww1 soldier, he took part in the battle of tannenberg where he injured and became a pow. Later he worked in a manor as a tailor here in Hungary and founded a family... I'm very interested in this DLC!!!

I'd wait. The game has a severely diminished population on all platforms. On top of that, there are a lot of newer games coming out around that time which will pull even more players away. I can't wait to play the DLC, but i know I am probably going to struggle to find full games most of the day.

If someone is interested - the women depicted in the trailer is "Богачёва, Клавдия Алексеевна" (Bogacheva Claudia Alekseevna). Her story is very similar to Mulan's story. Only in 1916 she was decommissioned from the front when they find out she was a woman (but i assume they know it even before, there is probably a much deeper story behind her).

What's funny, every russian comment is praising the trailer, a long awaited good russian voiceover in Battlefield game, beautiful and touching Ahmatova's verse, Mosin Nagant and Ilya Muromets bomber, while all you guys do is bitch about fucking feminists.
Pretty reasonable. They're working on 8 maps (Prise de Tahure, Nivelle Nights, +6 Russian maps). Maps aren't easily made, you have to think about balancing and visual aspects, and they have to create basically a new environment and objects since most of BF1 takes place in France so they could reuse assets.

God bf5 made my soul want to die with that. Mostly because they so easily could have done it well and accurately like they did in bf1. Its just sad , because I feel like the way they implemented it didnt highlight the ACTUAL struggles and bravery of women in ww2, instead just lopping them in for every faction, even for those that were known to be incredibly authoritarian and mysogynistc (looking at you imperial japan and germany...) which imo failed to represent the actual women who payed the ultimate price in that brutal war. (Ex: female partisan rebels, medics, russian female snipers, female aviators, etc.)
If dice had just set the game in the future and not in WW2, people would have been fine with it, cause the game isn’t awful on its own it’s just very unrepresentative if WW2

It felt so for a while that there might be single-player war story but the dlc description doesn't mention any and I doubt they would surprise players with such a huge dlc addition while they already brought the first dlc with the usual content. Pretty reasonable. They're working on 8 maps (Prise de Tahure, Nivelle Nights, +6 Russian maps). Maps aren't easily made, you have to think about balancing and visual aspects, and they have to create basically a new environment and objects since most of BF1 takes place in France so they could reuse assets.

Secondly, I know history too especially Russian history, I know Tsarism, I know about khrushchev and Stalin's reign and I know about the Bolsheviks and Lenin's reign. I'm not being arrogant because theirs a lot I still don't know in history but Russian history I have good knowledge on so I know what I'm talking about
And the question was not whether the Winter Palace had anything to do with the DLC, it was whether it had anything to do with WW1, which Battlefield 1 is based on so I was right to back up my claim.

God bf5 made my soul want to die with that. Mostly because they so easily could have done it well and accurately like they did in bf1. Its just sad , because I feel like the way they implemented it didnt highlight the ACTUAL struggles and bravery of women in ww2, instead just lopping them in for every faction, even for those that were known to be incredibly authoritarian and mysogynistc (looking at you imperial japan and germany...) which imo failed to represent the actual women who payed the ultimate price in that brutal war. (Ex: female partisan rebels, medics, russian female snipers, female aviators, etc.)
If dice had just set the game in the future and not in WW2, people would have been fine with it, cause the game isn’t awful on its own it’s just very unrepresentative if WW2

The Zachvolt the next Battlefield is due in 2018 plus they have 2 DLC's left which will most likely come out next year. Basically , they don't have the time to follow the normal 2 year schedule Battlefield has like they did with Hardline to release a game because BF1 needed more time plus DICE has Battlefront 2 to work on.

It felt so for a while that there might be single-player war story but the dlc description doesn't mention any and I doubt they would surprise players with such a huge dlc addition while they already brought the first dlc with the usual content. They wouldn't change the description of season pass durring the half way.
