Should always take the top player in the draft and sort by C, LW, RW, LD, RD, G. Cap space doesn’t matter but have to cycle through they order and take the top player on the list. (Obviously can only do goalie twice)
Try using some of the advanced stats like corsi or fenwick or various per 60 minutes statistics, and always take the player with the highest advanced stat for whichever you choose
Do a draft where you actually draft for the future and sim like 5 years like the player sims so you can show us what the season was like. Will be a long episode but will be cool!
You actually said Mäkiniemi's name pretty well, some Finnish names are tough to say properly as a non-native, so well done. Here's my draft idea: Any player under 27yrs old, and you if you have under 35 wins at the deadline, you have to make a trade for 1 player who is atleast 32 years old to get experience to roster, and send youngest player other way.
Draft idea (unless you've done it already): You can only take one player of each age (no need to go one after the other). For example 18, 19, 21, 24 and so on.. so CANNOT take 2 players aged the same number and if you've done the unique age draft: You can only take players who are 200lbs and more (or 200lbs and less - don't know which is harder)
Idea for a draft: You have to MISS the playoffs, but with a team that reached the cap hit (or close to it). You can go for the worst contracts and then fill the rest of the team with the cheap, poor players, or you can make it a bit harder and set certain limitations, such as the "cheap" options not having under a certain cap hit.
You should do a draft where the first liners play as the 4th liners, and the 2nd line plays as the third line. Same for defense but the 2nd paring doesnt change
Draft idea: You can only draft players on your fantasy hockey team. If you can't draft them, they get replaced by a random ahler or any bottom barrel player (in the 60-70 overall range)
A draft that I would like to see is an original 6 draft. I want to see what players would be career AHL guys and who wouldn’t be in the league at all. Doesn’t have to be original 6 teams, but what the talent pool would look like if they never expanded.
