Chennai is not just city of South Indian food, it is the place where Chicken 65 was invented, where A2b is always bustling with delicious recipes and where people unwind their day by chatting over filter coffee. The best thing? The food of Chennai didn't disappoint me at all. Everything was so good, and this is just the first part.

It is tattu idli in tamil . Tattu means plate. Usually normal idly was cooked in idli cooker/vessel. This tattu idly cooked in tattu /plate like vessel.

Hey I am a Tamilian. Avial is a common preparation at my place. It does not contain brinjal or onion!
It is made with lot of veggies like carrot, beans, ash gourd, drum stick & raw banana. And the gravy is made with coconut & curd.
You may not be eating Avial at all. Check with the waiter on what you are eating!
Gayathri Mahalingam the staff itself told me it has brinjal & vegetables. :)

We just made it a habit of eating in 1 way.
But really there is no order to eating except curd rice we eat at last, to cool down the body after eating sambar/rasam

try murugan idli shop for their podi idli and range of chutnies. Ratna cafe for their sambhar. Nair Mess for their fish thali. Bombay lassi for their lassi and jalebis and samosas. Sukkubhai Biryani for biryanis.

Pleae try Murugan idli in T.nagar(ghee podi idli,filter coffe,medu vada,ghee pongal n sweet pongal).Near to bata shop in front of pothys in t Nagar try the paniyaram.Try cafe food in the Mash in Besant nagar beach n try goli vada pav.N try the famous sandwich at egmore.Try out the best vegetarian food at Sree gupta bhavan

If you are still in Chennai try Shee mithai in Anna nagar. Highly recommended by my in-laws in Chennai.

Idly and dosa are looking like Bangalore style....u were at uduppi or Bangalore origin restaurant, try in some other Chennai Tamil restaurants, it tastes totally different, you will find only freshness without more oily....hope u will visit in the future

Avial is not made of brinjal. It is mix vegetables made from coconut and curd paste with minimum coconut oil.
