My heart goes out to you, Ashleigh. Dealt with the same things you are for the whole of my adult life and things do improve over time and there will be steps backwards from time to time and I'm 69 years old! I so look forward to your videos so much warmth and comfort eminates from them. In the meantime, bless you and stay safe x
Ashleigh, you're a beautiful person. You have literally years of your life recorded; I urge you to go back through your videos and see all of the things you have accomplished and all of the ways that you have grown. And know that you are enough , you always have been, and you always will be. I hope you find the balance and inner peace that you're seeking. Much love.
I'm catching up on old videos, and I watched this at the perfect time. Thank you for making this video. I've felt lost and restless a lot, and somehow everything things feel too much lately.
Ashleigh, I'm right there with you. It's a struggle to avoid that narrative of failure when we are growing out of a phase or lifestyle. My routine and time management have been a mess lately. I'm working full time in a stressful and busy job. I'm also attending school full-time to get a degree that I would have had 20 years ago if I hadn't dropped out. For the past year, work and school have consumed my life, leaving me no time for self-care. I took a day off work last week to do school work and had a bit of a breakdown. Instead of school, I cleaned the house and went shopping. And those sound like chores, but they felt like self care because I was in such a better frame of mind afterward. My final classes are wrapping up in 2 weeks. I cannot wait to do what I see you doing, trying to develop a balance between have-to-do and want-to-do. I wish you luck!
Its an ongoing process here as well. But I do have a sense that things are shifting.. been reading about cyclical lifestyle and the wheel of the year lately. To me it makes alot more sense to slow down and therefore allowing myself to do so, without beating myself up all the time. No labour without rest.
Self care can be hard to incorporate into one’s life. I love to see that you are working on this. My biggest hurdle is feeling like I am not worthy of self care. I find things I really enjoy doing. Then I feel like I done deserve it because I’m not __________ (whatever I’m feeling at the moment).
I will never get tired of someone prioritizing their own mental health above work! That's an essential part :D Thank you for sharing your recent struggles with us. It is incredibly sad creators feel the need to justify their content going a little bit down in quanitity when they want to focus on the quaintity, both of their lives adn the content they create. I am glad you are chossing a little bit for yourself too, a bit more healthy of a balance in life. And I, for one, look forward to anything you'll make. As a patreon I love being on the sidelines and supporting what you do as a person and if that means less content with a happier Ashleigh, I'd say it's worth it 10000% (but then, what's my opinion matter when it's all about YOU) As a remainder I guess I wanna thank you for always making the quiet content you do, and for taking time out of your day for being able to make this content
Honestly, this has been my favourite vlog style video of the year so far! The aesthetic was right up my street, and I totally agree with the sentiment of the video. Stay happy, healthy and wonderful 💖
Being a powerhouse is one form of getting things done and being an inspiration. There are other ways, and you're finding your own path. You are getting things done and inspiring others. Never doubt that. Thank you.
Whenever I have those thoughts, I remind myself that nature put me on this earth to simply exist, spend time in nature, nurture myself and make connections, all the other expectations were just created my humans to "prove" something we don't need to prove. We're here to just be and not to prove ourselves, we deserve happiness regardless of anything 💚. I hope you'll find your balance, we love you very much💚
You got this! And yes, do things that make you happy, do things once in a way that is out of your routine. But remember you are human, a beautiful human, and just go with life. Thank you for the video. You got this you beautiful soul. 💜
I've been struggling lately with so many things just going out of my control. This was a needed reminder to take some time for me. Hope your doing well 💕
What you said about rephrasing what you say & how you say it...is absolutely right! Many people don't realize how negative self talk can impact their lives. I, like many, believe we create our own realities & this starts with our thought patterns. For a long time I've made it practice to tell myself "I love you" & "Your beautiful" a few times a day, everyday. For me, it helps to cement those beliefs within me:) So it's awesome your seeing this & utilizing these tools to make change within your life as well 💚
Thank you for this video, I’m a stay at home mother who suffers with anxiety and am struggling to motivate myself and overthink too much. I found this video really helpful xx
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m also trying to practice more self care, I’ve started meal planning and practicing yoga every day, plus trying to take better care of my skin. The thing you said about being inspired by other creators and not knowing how they do it, I just want to say that you are that person for me. Your channel and home decor is so aspirational to me, so thank you again.
Ashleigh, thank you so much for sharing this. I can definitely relate and I'm also on a journey to live more slowly and live more instead of for example browse social media for hours. I think that can be very toxic since I compare myself to others a lot. I'm not really happy with myself but I'm trying. This video and your channel keeps me trying and feel inspired. I really love the safe haven you and your followers created on here and Patreon. I'm so happy to be a part of it! p.s: I love these kind of videos!
I love this, I have recently realised that I completely overbook myself both during the week and at the weekend and I never have chill time for myself. Today has been the first day of many to come I hope that I spend time for myself and it’s made me realise that I need to stop taking on too much
Thank you so much for sharing your journey! It helps other more than you know. I love the pictures from your walk, they are so peaceful. Have an amazing weekend 🍄
Such a beautiful and inspiring vlog, Ashleigh. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I am still in that stage where I beat myself up if I haven’t been productive enough and it depresses me when I think I have ‘wasted’ a day which I know is ridiculous in itself. I am trying to partake in more self-care and watching your vlogs is definitely helping me achieve the calm and serenity I crave 😊🙏
this was such a beautiful vlog ashleigh. I never really understood the importance of self-care until recently when I needed it the most. Ive started a journey of daily mediation and journalling and just recently I have been going to light language healing sessions! This has really helped me feel grounded when I've being feeling really lost. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, my heart goes out to you. You are lovely soul!!
I have been trying to stop filming parts of my life because I only try to show the best parts in social media and then when I am having a great time afterwards i hate that i did not film it or take a photo but when I do try and live in the moment it is mostly so i can follow some stupid social media trend but I need to just live my life for myself.
I honestly love this video 💕💕 self-care is so important and I never realised just how much until I started my own little journey of making new healthy habits 😊 even after just a couple of days of exercising more and meditating and spending more time in the sun and eating healthier, I felt a million times better than I did before 🙌 so proud of you for emphasising putting yourself first!!
I'm kinda binging your old vlogs rn and I really resonate with a lot of what you said. You also inspired me to do a daily tarot card, which I haven't done in quite a while. I got The Empress. 💜
I'm loving seeing your comments roll in ahaha, thank you! I've fallen out of my habit of tarot reads but definitely need to get back to doing it more often
Your videos make me miss Edinburgh so much! I studied in Scotland about 5 years ago and would take day trips there all the time. I recently found that taking the Instagram app off of my phone during the week really helps me not scroll so much. I have it on my iPad, so I can still post content. But when its on my phone I find that I scroll more often then I actually post. Social media is such a battle though. I hope that you are able to figure out a good system with it soon!
My version of this is activating the app limits on my phone! So it’ll lock me out after a certain amount of time. It really helps with the aimless scrolling
I now work from home, and I work mostly with women, and it has been a game changer. I used to have an incredibly toxic job working in construction, men would use foul langue constantly and everyone was a republican, but me. I love my job now, but WFH does make it harder to "step away" from the actual work. Thanks for this video, great tips
You’re so inspiring ❤️ your content is always so wonderful and beautiful. You’ve inspired me to go out for walks more and find beauty in my surroundings. I hope you find the balance you’re looking for 💕💕
Your scenery on your walk is breathtaking! Hmmn Apple Crumble you seen to have perfected how you like it. What a chunker of a book you were reading. I love that you are doing workouts from home well done x
I loved this! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, many of which are very relatable! Finding the balance between enjoyment and to do lists and work and life is always an ongoing struggle!
Hello Ashleigh. Your video is exactly what I needed today. Thankyou for sharing and for being such a great comfort to soooo many peoples lives. 🥰 I've been wanting to ask you for a while, where do you acquire your jewellery? I've noticed in your content that you have really lovely pieces. Just wondering if you could give an idea where you like to look. Hope you have a lovely week and don't give yourself such a hard time 😊
I'm so glad to see you happy in Edinburgh! It's an amazing city to live in! I also work from home, so I try to go out on my lunch break every day for a little walk. It clears my thoughts and gets me away from the screen for a little. I'm also struggling with my morning routine, it feels like every day I just get up and start working... Trying to work on that too. ❤️
Thanks for sharing Ashleigh 💕 I have always taken a lot from your videos, looking forward to seeing more in the future, whatever their content may be 😊
I love this for you. I'm finally working in backstage theatre (as an Assistant Stage Manager aka ASM) on a musical in London. I'm only on my 5th day but already realise I need to readjust and try to find a balance between life, work and play/rest. Since September I've gone from one ASM role to another with little time in between each to rest and reflect, so I am attempting to find small moments in my day for self care. Even if that is just making food the night before so I can sleep a bit longer in the morning, or having a bath, or being creative just for me and not for anyone else to see. Hopefully with small adjustments that become habits we can move towards a better balance in life!
Your videos are very aesthetically pleasing and relaxing. This one was also very thought-provoking. You’re good with words and images; I’m sure you’ll find your way through to the content you are happier with. Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, ‘Big Magic’, is good for restless creatives. I’m one myself!
I think your vlogs are already so vibey and aesthetically pleasing but I’m always up to see new stuff so if you want to change things up at all you definitely should
Lovely vlog.. Every time you get that cinnamon bun out of the packet I just want to reach through and get it.. looks delicious 😋 thanks for sharing ❤❤❤❤
That apple crumble looks so yummy! 🤗🤗🤗 This was such a beautiful vlog & I can totally relate especially when you talk about how you have just been doing content along side of going to school & work & how you want to slow down. I too have always wanted to be that powerhouse of a woman…but the nonstop lifestyle just isn’t something that is sustainable. Trying to balance everything is so hard & not accomplishing everything does lead to this mindset of failure. But we’re not failures…we are just not mindless machines. And as you said…just the effort is admirable. I personally find you vlogs & videos to be SO COMFORTING! Just your whole aesthetic & vibe. I feel like so many of your shots do remind me of films. Like, I always feel like if you made films, they would be AMAZING because you capture things so beautifully! 😍😍😍 And I am a girl who used to spend sooo much of her time watching films. Blockbusters & indie…so I’m not just saying things to say it. I think that might be another reason why your vlogs comfort me. Because they remind me of how films once comforted me. I just don’t watch films the way that I used to anymore. I hope that these methods work for you & that you achieve the lifestyle that you are craving because you deserve it. You are right about having to readjust especially when your life is changing. I hate change & crave a certain level of routine so it wears on me. But I’ve been trying to roll with change the older that I get. I love you & am sending you all the warmest energy! 🥰🥰🥰✨✨✨✨
I love your content and aesthetic. I would watch your videos if you were to just jump on a leg in circles. I feel so understood and calm, I cannot even put it into words. Thanks for sharing yourself with us. Sending love and bear hugs!
As you spoke about reaching for your phone a lot I looked down at my hands...and my phone...and slowly put it away hahaha. Definitely relatable! Less screen time is also hard for us that live alone and are always home, but I am trying to implement it more too. And specially social media as it can be very draining!
@@AFrolicThroughFiction haha yes xD What has worked well for me is to just leave my phone in another room for a couple hours. Just that helps a lot, but still allows for connection when I need it :) And using an app to block social media at 11pm every night so I dont spend bedtime on my phone, but read instead!
@@msellenandrea I have app limits set on my phone, it’s already a built in thing on my phone rather than anything I needed to download so might as well make use!
I feel like I’ve heard before that better help don’t pay their therapists very well, I was wondering if you had looked into it at all or if my information is old news?
I love that you're making this video and sharing this kind of content. It's so good and so important. I'm also terrible at self-care. I'm trying to be better about it, but it's so hard. Ahh I wish I could go for a walk, but I'm a bit home bound at the moment. I'll just live through you vicariously. Oh those apples look so good! I'm so glad your crumble turned out. It looks lovely! Ah Hero of Ages! How are you enjoying it so far? I struggle working out too also because of health issues and ailments and things - hence being home bound at the moment. It's very frustrating sometimes. I absolutely love this vlog a lot. It's very inspiring and calming to me. I've been struggling with a lot of things lately and I ended up deciding to take a long hiatus from youtube with no end date. Also random aside, but ahh you're a lefty! Me too! Thanks so much for sharing this and I love to see that you're thriving in Scotland!
I know you think the workout part is embarrassing, but we all start somewhere! It's nothing to be embarrassed about! It took me so many years to get "into" working out. I went from absolutely no workouts (2010) to now being a powerlifter at the age of 38! There are so many people that will find that part impressive and inspiring!
You have the best sweaters. :) By the way, I actually posted a proper RUclips video myself today. It is about my aquariums. I will leave the book stuff to the book people. ;)
Wait what!? What cofféshop do you go to? All the names of the cinnamonbuns are in swedish. I got shoked when seeing "blåbärsbulle". I was like "thats my language!"😂
@@AFrolicThroughFiction Ah ok, I just got so shoked. I feel like it´s not offen you see swedish outside of sweden. 😅 Love your vlogs BTW, you are amazing. 🥰
I love your channel. I think you have amazing content! I have 5 young children 9 & under. I have not focused on self care for myself in 10 yrs. I am now feeling the effects of this. I am trying to figure out self care right along with you! It is very hard indeed! If we stay focused, positive & accountable, we shall persevere!! (Accountability, the hardest of all!) Have you ever watched Annabell Margaret's channel The Green Witch? I think you will enjoy her content! Very calming & informative. I know you want to decrease screen time, but check her out. Stay strong my dear. 💜 You are amazing! Don't ever forget that!
Ashleigh this video is just what I needed to watch today. I've been feeling so anxious and worthless for so many weeks and today was extra hard, so thanks for sharing your thoughts about slowing down and taking care of yourself. PS, could you share the two channels you're currently watching that you love?
Sending you so much love 💚 the channels I was thinking of are Veda Corvus, The Cottage Fairy, and I really love the aesthetics of Katherine Karas’ channel too!
I’m glad comfort can be found in my videos ☺️ thank you for the kind words!
Much love.
I love getting a mini tour in another country! I love this video. Such retrospective self awareness. Love it. Love from Canada
You're vlog really comforts me. I find YOU fascinating to watch.
I'm catching up on old videos, and I watched this at the perfect time. Thank you for making this video.
I've felt lost and restless a lot, and somehow everything things feel too much lately.
Needed this video today! It’s often very easy to forget that you don’t have to live at someone else’s speed!
🖤💚
That's an essential part :D
Thank you for sharing your recent struggles with us. As a patreon I love being on the sidelines and supporting what you do as a person and if that means less content with a happier Ashleigh, I'd say it's worth it 10000% (but then, what's my opinion matter when it's all about YOU)
As a remainder I guess I wanna thank you for always making the quiet content you do, and for taking time out of your day for being able to make this content
I just love the overall honesty in this whole video
Honestly, this has been my favourite vlog style video of the year so far! The aesthetic was right up my street, and I totally agree with the sentiment of the video. Stay happy, healthy and wonderful 💖
Thank you so much 🥺 I’m glad you liked it!

I love your content and aesthetic. I would watch your videos if you were to just jump on a leg in circles. I feel so understood and calm, I cannot even put it into words. Thanks for sharing yourself with us. Sending love and bear hugs!
🍄 but your vlogs are so inspiring to me. I guess it depends on the perspective
As you spoke about reaching for your phone a lot I looked down at my hands...and my phone...and slowly put it away hahaha. Definitely relatable! Less screen time is also hard for us that live alone and are always home, but I am trying to implement it more too. And specially social media as it can be very draining!
Yesss I always have the thought in the back of my mind that if I locked away my phone I would essentially be isolating myself 😅 makes it hard!
I did, I replied to someone else’s comment re. concerns that might be relevant somewhere below ☺️
@@AFrolicThroughFiction thank you for replying, I appreciate the response 😊
have you ever been to the Topping & Company Bookshop??🥰
I have! It’s in a bookshop tour video I filmed a little while ago ☺️
❤️❤️
❤️
I know you think the workout part is embarrassing, but we all start somewhere! It's nothing to be embarrassed about! It took me so many years to get "into" working out. I went from absolutely no workouts (2010) to now being a powerlifter at the age of 38! There are so many people that will find that part impressive and inspiring!
💚🍄
You have the best sweaters. :) By the way, I actually posted a proper RUclips video myself today. It is about my aquariums. I will leave the book stuff to the book people. ;)
Wait what!? What cofféshop do you go to? All the names of the cinnamonbuns are in swedish. I got shoked when seeing "blåbärsbulle". I was like "thats my language!"😂
Soderberg! It’s a popular Swedish bakery here 😌
@@AFrolicThroughFiction Ah ok, I just got so shoked. I feel like it´s not offen you see swedish outside of sweden. 😅 Love your vlogs BTW, you are amazing. 🥰
🧡🧡🧡
I had to watch it twice 👍. Easy video ranking - P-R-O-M-O-S-M !!
