Another great thing I like about Butler is he hardly gets caught up on screens. Whether he is chasing someone through or guarding on ball he gets through them quick.
What impresses me about this guy is that he's doing all this without a crazy wingspan....unlike kawhi and many other good defenders. Not throwing shade at kawhi just pointing that out
Well, it's his wingspan that's keeping him from being a top tier elite defender like Kawhi and Draymond. There's a reason why he's never made a 1st team all defense and why he didn't make all defense at all last season.
I agree that Butler is a elite defender. As far as last year tho I thought he had his worst year defensively & was rewarded with an all defesive team off reputation and not production. He actually had a +2 opponent field goal percentage difference. So last year he took a big step back. Im sure he gon snap back tho.
That seems to be consensus on most podcasts I listen to, but he is still a great defender. If he was an A+ defender in 2015, would you have rated him any lower than a B last year?
Brandon Reed idk if I would say he was a A+ in 2015. To me a A+ would be Kawhi 2016. I would probably give him a B+ or A- in 2015 and C for 2016. Even tho your opponents a 2+ field percentage difference is deserves a D he does clamp down and make great defensive plays in clutch time.
I think the reason Jimmy's defense has slowed down a bit is because he's had to take on such a ridiculous scoring load for his team, he is the leading scorer and almost all of it comes from iso play. That has got to take it out of you, and he always produces the clamps in important moments
Landon Myers not an L. I'm a basketball coach, everywhere the hand is part of the ball, it's in the rules. So a block that gets hand is still a legal and clean block
Landon Myers no. You're right. An understanding of the basketball rules is what would make my team 0-10. Also, mad is pretty far from correct...so while I would be mad if that happened, would it technically still be the right call? Yes.
Hand part of the ball is a tough call in the NBA, while yes it is technically part of the ball, not disagreeing with you there, but 1. If it were the Pacer's home court, definitely a call. 2. If it were Lebron James, Steph Curry, or Kobe, they'd definitely call it. 3. Looked like he got some wrist too.
I feel like butler has digressed defensively the last few years when he was in Chicago he was arguably the best 2 way player in the game. Only two i can think of that were better was kawhi and klay i put butler better then george at that time. But he hasnt been the same defensively

First "block" was all hand LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Christusolus except that's still a block because hand is part of the ball in most basketball leagues, especially the NBA...so LOLLLLL.
