The Fj has taken me to an insane amount of awesome places. Such a cool vehicle! After all of these years, I still do enjoy it. I do need more space though…
@IndependenceOverland Yep, space is at a premium. I was very close to getting a rooftop tent for mine but decided instead to use that space for a cargo box and rack mounts to keep the larger recovery gear out of the cabin. I also ended up deleting the subwoofer because it took up too much room. I absolutely love the FJ, though, so trading it for something with more room isn't on my to-do list!
Also thanks for great video work and accompanying musical scores that match. I know how much editing work that is so much appreciated your great content.
Watched this yesterday on a overland adventure out east next to massive set of Dino tracks here in CO. Couldn’t believe I had cell reception to watch this, it was very remote. I’m so inspired to make lots of mushroom tacos this summer. Stellar episode Tyler.
Man I found your channel yesterday at 1.30am and I was watching until 3.30am! I want to move to Colorado from Florida so much and this is like therapy for me . I am originally from Greece and I hate living in Florida. You will be surprised but Northern Greece in the Pindus mountain range looks so much like CO (hence me wanting to come and move there)! I hope you have 500K subs very soon man, this channel is amazing!!
We always hunt for Boletus they are so delicious. Back in me home country we call Boletus (Penny Bun) a king of a forest. Give it a try. August and September the best time for Boletus (Penny Bun) in Colorado!!
I bet it’s incredible out there. I have told Natalia I would love to do a PNW trip at a different time of the year so we could spend more time looking for mushrooms!
I’m not sure how you don’t have more subs/views. I absolutely hate mushrooms and found myself intently watching this video. Never in my life am I going to be foraging for mushrooms (save for life or death, in which case I’d likely eat the wrong one and die).
Thanks for the words of encouragement Steve! These trip videos are the most work, but tend not to perform very well. I like making them the most though, so that’s what really counts! Thanks for watching bud!
No sir, I learned stomping through the forests with buddies. We backpack hunt so we come across tons of mushrooms sometimes so I learned by doing it like that. Honestly just about any book on Amazon, or perhaps a Facebook group with local mushroom foragings would be best. Then you could tag along and learn first hand. In your neck of the woods you will find the best mushroom, the morel. These are very easily identified and can be confirmed by cutting them in half to make sure they are hallow.
@@IndependenceOverland essentially the mycelium is plenty alive underneath. But any tissue from the body (stem) is essentially a clone of what yo picked :) . I’m sure it won’t matter by winter, and the spores probably do the work for next year. But In a lab/hobby environment, could carry on that specimen:) . Hope to run into you on a trail sometime!!! Great content brother! Building a 1st gen sequoia
Thanks man! Those old Sequoias are awesome! Just like the same year Tundras, not overly large like the ones today but still has the durability of a full size.
No, I wish! I found a few in the San Juan mountains this year but it was only a couple of them. Aside from those, I have only found 2 others in my 12 years in Colorado. I haven’t ventured out into any of the burn areas. Maybe I will do that this year… The few I found at the beginning. I'm not sure if you take inspiration from him or not, but your videos remind of Steven Rinella's Meat Eater. And in general you just kind of remind me of Steven
I have seen the first few seasons a number of years ago, but I definitely never intended to emulate him. But your the 5th person to say that, so perhaps his show had more of an impact on me than I thought!
Haha I swear I can only cook a decent meal when camping. When I come home it all falls apart, and my wife would agree with that 😂. I was born to be in the hills! Thanks for watching Jeff, you taking care of that GX for me?
You should have at least 100,000 subs. Always excellent content. Thank you.
Very kind words! I hope to have that many subs one day! Thank you for watching! 🙏
Great video! You nailed the best reason for having an FJ. Finding those "I'm definitely coming back here" places is priceless.

I appreciate that! I always try to find a song that fits, and sometimes it takes a while!

Sounds like we might need to meet up so I can show you the ways!

This is such an awesome comment! Thank you for your words and support Paul! You are appreciated!
I’m gonna stock up with the next truck for sure! I’d prefer to carry 4!

I pick those too, I actually grabbed a few while filming this but cut that part out while editing. They are pretty good!
Hooray ! youre a shroomer too - You both should come to PNW again - for shrooming ! its fantastic

I'd be interested to know if you use a book, when identifying mushrooms. If so, do you have a recommendation?

@@IndependenceOverland yes!! Just had a morel the other day for the first time and was pretty good! Some people out here are selling them for $70/lb.
bury that piece that you cut off and it will keep growing :)
I admit I did not know that! Thank you Jim!

Wondering if Morels are common in your area?
