Lisa is a risk-taker. I can't even think of another artist with a self-titled album whose title track is also self-titled and having her name in the track's hook itself. Blackpink doesn't even have a song titled Blackpink, like FO Squad said. They don't even have a song where the chorus is all "Blackpink." (No shade to Blackpink here. They are queens.) How could have Lisa and Teddy known this could work? They have no precedence. They took a risk. Their only assurance is the power of Lisa's name, which she built in the 5 years since her group's debut. And what do you know? She actually pulled it off. It was a huge and risky creative decision, but Lisa took it. That alone deserves respect.
LALISA is a song about self-assurance, empowerment, and confidence. I don't know why some people expected her to sing about love or some sh*t when Lisa as an artist has always been about that girl power and badassery business. But LALISA is also a song of acknowledgment -acknowledgment of one's origin, culture, and identity. And it's a song of appreciation - appreciation for what you have, where you are in life, and the people that helped you get there (you all heard her make a shoutout to Blackpink in the song).
As for MONEY? Oof. That song is hot. As a grownass woman myself, I like how Lisa exudes sexiness in that song. I don't need a music video to feel that. What's sexier than a strong, independent woman who makes money for herself and spends it on herself? We all aspire to be that woman. Hell, Lisa is younger than me, but I aspire to be her (success-wise). And anyone who knows Lisa knows that she is THAT woman. She took a risk at a young age to chase her dreams and look at her now raking in the money, elevating the status of her label, spoiling her pets, and giving back to her parents. MONEY is a song about hardwork and self-love. It's a song about working your ass off and basking in the fruits of your hard work.
Haters aren't ready to hear a female Kpop idol be this confident (and receive so much love and success for it). For them, if it's a male idol, it's okay to be super confident, but female idols should only sing about love and breakups (and get criticized for only singing about love and breakups). Smh.
So, yeah, Lisa's first single album deserves praise and respect. It's the perfect introduction to Lisa, the Thai Kpop artist. No one can convince me otherwise.
