- Using a tradition chocolate chip cookie recipe, we make them into Spider Chocolate Chip Cookies for Halloween using melted chocolate! The chocolate chip cookies are chewy and delicious....and the spiders are sure to gross out your guests!
In the video, I inadvertently forgot to mention to add the chocolate chip for the spider's body...when the cookies are still warm, insert a chocolate chip upside down.

Ingredients:
2 1/4 cup all purpose flour (270g)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda (2.5mL)
1 cup butter (240g)
1/2 cup granulated sugar (50g)
1 cup brown sugar (180g)
1 teaspoon salt (5mL)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (10mL)
2 eggs
2 cups chocolate chips (16oz) + reserved chocolate chips for making spiders
Procedure:
Combine flour, salt and soda in a bowl and mix. Set aside for later. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugars. Add eggs one at a time, and vanilla. Add flour mixture and mix until combined. Add chocolate chips. Scoop out cookie dough onto a parchment lined tray and bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes.
Melt reserved chocolate chips and put into piping bag with a small part of the tip cut off. When cookies have cooled, pipe on 8 spider legs onto chocolate chips that are prominent. If no chocolate chips are prominent, while cookies are still warm, place one/two chips upside down in the cookie.

Yes, you can use a hand mixer, or a spoon.
This is the cutest idea ever.

Yes, as the whisk attachment will not work...but if you're asking whether you can mix by hand, or with hand mixers, yes, you can do that instead of a stand mixer.
Thanks Angie!
I usually do...just haven't gotten to that yet. There is a conversion link for you in the description box if that helps in the meantime.
You can use either, but I use salted.
Thank you!
it's a smaller sized ice cream scooper which is actually sold with the title of a cookie scooper since most people use them to get the average cookie size when baking, it just makes them more uniform and i guess it also saves a bit of time when placing them on the parchment paper
Yes, it matters...if you're only going to use that much butter, you will have to scale the rest of the ingredients as well.
I'm going to guess that plain flour would be best as self raising has baking powder and salt in it.
No, I haven't yet.
Thanks so much!
**extremely Talented!!! I love watching your videos and I check everyday for new ones!! Amazing baker!!!!
I hope you enjoy them....good luck!
No problem! Thanks for watching!
I love it! I will try to find one here. I think that would work VERY well with the tree that everyone has to walk under to get to/from my place.
So cool! Saw this on twitter yesterday. It was done differently, but your way is so much easier!
I use salted

Yes they are! But once you've baked them for 12 or so minutes, they might look like they're not ready but they are so take them out or else they may get crunchy!
Your videos get more amazing every time!
These cookies are adorable! Definitely trying them!
The effort shows big time, not a shadow to been seen :)
This is your 100th video! Happy 100 videos Jenn!!!!!
You can keep the cookies in a sealed container for a couple of days.

Your lighting is awesome btw. :)
This is so simple, but so cute and creative! Did you place the body of the spide on the cookie before you placed it in the oven or while they were cooling? Great cookie! :)

When did you place the chocolate chip for the spider's body? Immediately after baking? I love this idea. I will be making some this Halloween!
Adorable. I think I missed how each cookie ended up with one chip perfectly at the top and somewhat center that you then start adding legs to--did you push them in there after baking?
