He plays at least 7 instruments. This is the dombra, a native Kazakh instrument with 2 strings. He also plays keyboard, piano, drums, marimba, guitar, and cello.

Dimash's Bachelor's Degree is in Pop and Jazz and it shows here. He is a master of his craft.
His degree included Broadway, my sister and several friends were in school with him. The students used to tell him, what's with the high notes, you sound like a girl ! No one's going to pay to hear THAT ! Sing like a normal person ! He never relented and where he honed that wide open Broadway stance his big stage movement, arms wide, long strides while singing, all Broadway stage techniques. He's always known exactly what he wants and relentlessly pursues it, firm and never compromises, his Mother calls it "stubborn". Ha !

Then you have from the same month (the 4 performances in China) "THOUSANDS OF MILES-A COMMON DREAM 2023" ( be sure it's 2023 version), and finally the outstanding another transformation of a song into something a little different (like "Dudarai) the song "BATTLE OF MEMORIES" (Dimash wearing a pink suit)🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩. Yes, Dimash himself did the arrangements on both songs. The instrument on this video of today is DOMBRA (Домбыра)
Yes he did Durdarai in a pure Folk format years ago. I love the lyrics and the riffs in this song. The addition of the 3 staccato notes were like cherries on top of a perfect desert.😂
He did a new Jasmine duet with Tia Ray at a Silk Road Festival that is incredible. Also his new Eternal Memories where he is in hot pink suit and black hat. Great reworking of this song.👍

It's not the first time Dimash has done scat singing. You can see more of that in his live versions of "Know," and "Vocalise,"----both well worth your time.
Dimash is a multi-instrumentalist and plays several instruments very well. The one he plays here is called the Dombra - the Kazakh national instrument. BTW he graduated from university as a vocalist in Jazz as well, so he is very good in any genre....Dimash always surprises because he is Dimash, the best singer on the planet!

💥Dombra (dome' bra) 2 strings made of horsehair and gut, a traditional instrument of the nomads of the Kazakhstan steppes. His grandfather a Master Player taught him to play chess and the dombra as a little boy and they played both together until his grandfather's recent death. Dimash plays it like an acoustic guitar in his instrumental Rivers of Love, a real treat ! You'd both enjoy it !

The song is an old Kazakh folk song, which Dimash usually sings in a fully folk way, but he decided to step it up with what he calls Funky Jazz. He is a great Jazz singer having studied Jazz but he doesn’t really sing Jazz that often! He’s certainly great at it! (As he is with every genre!) The two stringed instrument is a Kazakh instrument called a Dombra.

You two gave my favorite reaction to Dimash doing this song. This song is traditionally very slow. Dimash sang this with his beautiful younger sister, Raushan awhile back. One can only wonder what's next! I always wonder if everyone on Dimash's planet is as ingenious musically as Dimash! Ha. Good to see you and take it easy!
From Dimash’s page, Dimash plays piano, dombra, drums, guitar, marimba and bayan. Although there is a video where Dimash is “playing with” a cello, he has never claimed to play cello and I have yet to see him play a bowed instrument (believe me, he does well whenever an instrument is given to him- he transfers skills incredibly well!). The instrument at the beginning of this is the dombra… a young Kazakh friend of my daughter advised the dombra is the official Kazakh instrument and most children are taught from an early age. I love the range of this one myself. It is a variation on a folk song which Dimash has performed with his sister in the past (2018?) in its original style. Cheers from Canada!
PLEASE react to The Story of One Sky - either the video (really a small film, he acts in it as well) or the live (although it's from someone's phone) It was written by Dimash - he worked on it for 3 years and poured his heart into it. Stunning. It even received recognition from the Pope.

Dimash started in a traditional way to sing the traditional Kazakh folk song from 1905 and turned it into a funky jazz version.
Great reaction Guys! 🙌 As part of the “Beauty and Harmony” program, Dimash delighted the audience in China with the Kazakh song Dudarai composed by Bakhytzhan Baikadamov. Dimash was accompanying himself on dombra and piano to perform the traditional song in jazz style. It was really amazing to see on stage a new facet of his multiple skills, always on point!! 🔝❤️🎤🪕
The dombyra (домбыра) is a lute-style instrument. It is an ancient and quintessential piece of Kazakh culture and identity. In its most popular form, the dombyra has two-strings strung down a long, skinny neck and a pear-shaped body, flat at the front and rounded on the backside. The dombyra is, in fact, so important to Kazakh national identity that there is a popular saying: “Naǵyz qazaq qazaq emes, naǵyz qazaq - dombyra” (Нағыз қазақ қазақ емес, нағыз қазақ - домбыра), which, translated, means “A real Kazakh is not a Kazakh, a real Kazakh is a dombra.” 💙💛🔝🌹🌹❤️🎤👏👏👏

He really have matured in his lower register and to be honset. The song Ömir (Omír) is one of my favourites. No vocal fireworks. Just the best soothing voice and emotions.

You absolutely have to react to his masterpiece, the music video The Story of One Sky (he took 3y to compose this piece of art), there is no words to describe such experience. It is important to watch the video to understand the story. And then you can react to a live version: the premiere took place during his concert in Almaty (2022), part 3 on his YT channel, or the fancam by Dimash Vietnamese fanclub is the best one.
