As a first generation Mexican American that grew up in Southern California, I can attest the amount of immigrants that send money back to their families in Mexico, it’s literally the reason there’s an immigrant “problem”. So sending money is cumbersome and expensive. As a Chicano and millennial, I’m betting on NU and SoFi to lead the way in fintech for their respective markets.
Another big factor is that large banks are at least oligopolies, with the big 5 in the U. S being near monopolies and thus treating their customers not very well.
