Andy's voice has its special softness and wisdom. Enge is younger in this recording. Nevertheless, its a real pleasure to listen to them both! In my student's years I always listened to these two singers and learned my phonetics from them. In the Soviet Union one could never talk or listen a native speaker, so as a student of English I found it very hard to find something original, BUT on Sundays on the radio there was a special 30 mins. program of foreign variety music and I heard Mr. Humperdink and Mr. Williams first time there. Since then I keep listening to their voices and fantastically beautiful music. The new times produced nothing as beautiful and romantic as that epoch...

ok, first of all Engelbert has a pop baritone voice with a 3 octave range. Andy is somewhere between a baritone and a tenor. Next..they were both singing this song in the exact same key. When you have a higher voice you dont need as much vocal pressure passing across your vocal chords to reach the notes. The guy with the lower voice has to belt it just a bit more to reach the same notes. Which is why Engelbert sounded like he was more aggressive with his presentation then Andy.
Engelberts rendition was way superior, with incredible vocal range. They edited Andy to sing the final high notes, and cut Engelberts out, but listen to his entire version. Its awesome.
