The 50's and 80's were the best time to be a teenager. My grandmother went to high school in the 50's. My mother went to high school in the 80's. They were so lucky, both were rebellious decades for youth.
Call me a relic, Call me what you will, Say I'm old fashion, Say I'm over the hill, Today's music ain't got the same soul, I like that old time Rock and Roll!
In 1954 Bill Haley and his Comets released “Rock around the Clock,” and it was the sound the young had been waiting for. It was the first record to have-all in one place-a lyric about all-night partying, a thrilling guitar solo, and a rock-solid beat, with its drums way up in the mix. What’s more, its success was on an international scale, and this is why it crossed a generational threshold, ushering in the rock ‘n’ roll era.
Honestly, this is the music I wish was still around, all this new "rap" (which is another one of my favorite music genres) is just bad, as they blatantly add "aye" to the end of each sentence.
This song started the Rock and Roll Era in 1955 and all rockers who came after Bill Haley owe him a debt of gratitude. Sadly, Rap Crap and Hip Hop Pig Slop now reign supreme in the world of "American music". Can the Fall of America be that long from now? God help us all.
Fireflame lawless you should be listening too new music not this and now a days songs should have Ben your favorite not stinky old poopy music like this one
Adeline Parrish I listen to mostly 80s and some early 90s music. Def Leppard is my top favorite rock band. Nowadays music sucks and just so depressing. Rap and nowadays pop music is horrible and it gives me headaches.
The iconic guitar solo was performed by the legendary Danny Cedrone, a session guitarist who often worked with the Comets, but never a member of the band. Cedrone was paid a whopping $21 for his work on this song and a few others that he'd recorded with Haley in a 3-hour session on April 12, 1954. The song was originally not intended to be recorded that day, but the band decided to try it with Cedrone in attendance, and a run-through recording was made, with Cedrone nailing the improvised solo in a single take, and this was what was released to the public in May of 1954. Unfortunately, two weeks after its' release and just three days before his 34th birthday, Cedrone died from a broken neck sustained in a fall down a flight of stairs; he would never know the impact his solo would have on the development of rock & roll! RIP, Danny C 1920-1954 🎸🙏

It 1st entered the Top 100 on May 14th, 1955 and of course peaked at #1 {for 8 weeks} and stayed for nearly a half year in the Top 100 {24 weeks}...
but there is something so cool about that time, those cars, music, streets, everything was different, nicer than today, also people were more social than today.. we are asocial because of tehnology, specially because of mobile phones, i would be okay with 50s i guess
The ability to use internet on phones might be a bit much, but cell phones were invented so people could have a second number to call in case of an emergency, and so parents could check up on their kids. Imagine not being able to set an alarm for work. or to find your way around if the power went out.
