The war of attrition was quite I conclusive in a stretegic sense, though Israel did dominate the Egyptians. I've been subbed to your channel for years and really enjoy all your content. But I want to give a couple important bits of feedback that have been on my mind for a while. 1)Display the important info regarding the setting of the conflict ON SCREEN as you say it. Most videos I need to rewind to make sure I understand the setting, time and location wise. 2) A channel of this size and consistent success should maybe consider providing subtitles for their videos, rather than counting on the auto-generated ones. Deaf and HoH communities would thank you, but they would still be beneficial to all your viewers such as myself, especially since you use so much specific military terminology that the auto-subtitles won't pick up. Again, love your work and I give these suggestions out of love
Loved the video @The Operations Room! Can't wait for the next video man! It's Battles like this that just goes to show you how much you can't Underestimate the Israeli Defence Forces. It was widely known that the Egyptian pilots quietly celebrated the Israeli “victories “over the Russians, feeling fully vindicated and realizing that they were not mediocre after all…
That's a rather far-fetched conclusion though. Generally speaking, Egyptian and Arab pilots in general were and probably still are mediocre because of various reasons. They rely heavily on central command (ground-controlled interception) and display poor tactical behavior and creative thinking. Many don't even understand how some parts of their aircraft work. More likely, Soviet pilots of that time were similarly mediocre as Egyptian pilots were.
@@BlueBockser if properly trained Egyptian pilots would fair much better* than they did and mediocrity is a relative term, however the Egyptian Airforce command structure, training and control was largely based on the Soviet system which left little leeway in the way aerial combat is conducted.Control and direction from the ground not only prohibits initiative it allows the opposition to take advantage of the situation…*the N Vietnamese Airforce used the Soviet system a lot more effectively than the Egyptians and in some instances was able to take advantage of the the restrictions and constraints placed on American pilots so yeah mediocrity is a relative term …
There's some info missing. For example, at the time of the engagement, Israel managed to bring down the Russian long range communication channels, which was one of the main reasons the extra 8 MiGs never came to the battle and the Soviets later kept quiet about it.

Good video! Thanks for making this video available to the general public. Love the animated maps of how the battle(s) unfold. I would love to see you do a video of Operation Bolo during the Vietnam War! Operation Bolo (January 2, 1967) was similar to this battle in that it was ruse by the US Air Force to force the North Vietnam Air Force fighters into battle with US fighters. Up until this point the North's fighters avoided combat with US fighters and instead concentrated on hit-and-run tactics on the heavily loaded fighter bombers which often forced these bomber formations to jettison their bomb loads in defense (up to 20% of strikes were forced to jettison their bomb loads before hitting their targets). Once again, thanks for making these videos.
You should make a video on operation orchard, it was another Israeli strike on Syrian reactor or you can make a video on operation bolo vietnam that was also a mig vs Phantom operation

@opener of the world you again. Israel won the October war.
@@alonraigorodetsky1803
Its a Russki Bot mate
@@heckleypanes4988 No he is a genuine Egyptian I talked with him about a year ago. He was trying to prove me wrong by saying Egypt won in the October war. Using a book written by Henry Kissinger as his sources. I just told him to go to the page where Henry concluded that Israel won that war. Haven't heard of him since.
The war of attrition was quite I conclusive in a stretegic sense, though Israel did dominate the Egyptians. The Soviet ground based air defences were much more lethal and were too much for the Israels to break through, but again the Israelis never really tried to get into a proper knife fight with the Soviets
@@robertmandain5791 "Soviet based" is besides the point. They were Soviet made, but what I'm talking about is the initial positioning of the Soviet air defences for operational badr + the Soviet air defence crews in the war of attrition which taken in isolation were quite effective against the Israelis
Both of those are good points. Yes a lot of the military terms may not be easily apparent
Loved the video @The Operations Room! Can't wait for the next video man! It's Battles like this that just goes to show you how much you can't Underestimate the Israeli Defence Forces. You get ready for military Service at age 14 or 16 and then by Age 18 you're serving in the Defence Forces be it as a Paratrooper, an Tanker or just a Standard Infantryman.
Good job .👍
Have you considered doing this style of video with older battlefields such as WWI? I think you would do quite well
You should do a video on Operation Focus of the six day war
There's some info missing. For example, at the time of the engagement, Israel managed to bring down the Russian long range communication channels, which was one of the main reasons the extra 8 MiGs never came to the battle and the Soviets later kept quiet about it.
i think we also interfered with their communications by adding our own messages from russian speakers.
Israel versus the mighty Soviet Union above Egypt? Wow. That's quite impressive. We like this video. Keep up the good work. We can't wait to see more from you.
The ball of steels you gotta have to do an head pass! Pilots are crazy!
Great video Operations room. Keep up the great and awesome work on both of your channels. So educational.
And that's called an aerial combat ass-whooping!!
Wonderful, as always. Great work team.
Although I appreciate your attention to detail regarding the camouflage, I think some simpler color schemes might have made this a little easier to understand.
It helped convey the reality of chaos and attention to detail necessary to PID.
I love the fact this content makes me smarter, I never knew soviets were involved
I’m always shocked how fast the fuel actually goes in these fights
More please alot more!!!!! Great series!
I'm surprised you know the names of the Soviet pilots involved. I would have thought those names would never have been revealed.
@openeroftheworld8570lol 😂
They weren't revealed until much later, having been kept an open secret at the time.
If I remember correctly things happened back in 1991 in the *former* USSR.
@opener of the world "destroyed by a boat"
By severa Komar-class MISSILE boatS, that fired 3 soviet Styx missiles at it, sounds pretty reasonable to me.
But it doesn't matter, you lost regardless...
Great job, I really enjoy your vids
Excellent!
Another gem to be watched
Great as always
Egypt: 'Told you so!'
I look forward to watching these videos
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Soviet flight academy instructors: Egyptian pilots suck, we're washing them out and doing it ourselves.
Egyptian pilots: Russians tricked into ambush, crash and burn lol.
Israeli pilots: u mad bro?
Better late than never for my birthday yesterday.
Happy bday
Israel not only took on their neighbors but also the USSR , impressive
Maybe because israel gets most modern weapons and BILLIONS of aids and even nukes from all European countries and USA?
Great video!
Sometimes, real life is more like strange real.
Ace Combat Chronicles: The Cold War
Amazing how recent events put our vision of history in a very, very different context.
I love how everytime it is pushed around, Israeli military turns into a honey badger basically going ham. Agressive as it gets
nicely done
Really enjoy the videos, thanks
Israel also flooded the radio with wrong instructions in russian to add to the confusion
Thank you for the video ❤️
Excellent series. Any chance you might add to your list the Battle for Madagascar 1942, Operation Ironclad?
You should make a video on operation orchard, it was another Israeli strike on Syrian reactor or you can make a video on operation bolo vietnam that was also a mig vs Phantom operation
Incredible what they accomplished.
Great documentary, keep up the good work!
Do you guys think you could cover the battle of Kolambangara, it would be cool to see you guys cover more minor WW2 pacific engagements.
Isn't that some shitty island in the solomons?
@@oasis1282 Yeah, it’s also sometimes called the Second battle of Kula gulf, it involved a decent amount of ships, which is why it would be cool to see it laid out in their format.
Cool video
Awesome account of the battle! I have a question; how the HECK does anyone know who's who when its a 20+ aircraft dogfight like that? :D
The aircraft look very different, pilots are communicating with each other and most importantly pilots spend a ton of time studying to identify enemy assets.
That is why pilots train for years before becoming an actual combat pilot
Opening up a pair of J-79s will get you out of trouble quick.
The 69th specialise in tactical ground attack, and are one of the best anywhere, yet when push comes to shove, can dog fight with the best.
Today the operate the F-15i, sporting ground camo. Low and dirty, get it done.
Long live the Hammers.
Seems a tradition that soviets always have high losses, especially as the conflicts get more technologically advanced. The more you need well trained personnel and high performance equipment, the less soviets seem to succeeed in battle.
"Jane's IAF" also pays tribute to this in the mission "By Way Of Deception".
Janes - back in the late 90s when real flight sims were made. The manual was the size of a telephone book
There should be a movie about this
indeed 👍🏻
lol the dude who ditched all his missiles on accident. War is funny sometimes.
I'm not sure if it's Israel being great at war, or everyone around them just being terrible at it.
Or a mix of both. Which is the most likely answer.
@@AugmentedGravity well you know what they say, war is a competition of whose army can suck the least XD
Israel has neighbours that specialises in killing civilians so they are not very good against an armed force.
When you're against the wall you have to be good
Both. It’s one of the reasons Israeli forces have been able to win battles while heavily outnumbered and in some cases technological disadvantages.
