  • Check out www.viviantalksgingerrogers.bl... for an in-depth view of Ginger's life and movies from an ardent fan's perspective. Interpretive modern dance with a ball was the fad of the moment in the 60s. In high school attired in a leotard and tights, one of my classes was interpretive modern dance using a ball much like the dance Ginger does in the clip. The flipbook dance between Ginger and Perry are reminiscent of the early Mutoscope, a peephole, flip-card device to give the impression of movement.

I am glad you liked it. I enjoy Ginger's television appearances because I can see more of her personality.

Ginger Rogers was 49 years old when she appeared in this TV show. Amazing.

Ginger was 49 here and, apparently taking very good care of herself as she is clearly in great shape. It was fun seeing her do more modern stuff after her years of basically ballroom dancing in her movies with Fred Astaire.

    What a figure for a 49-year old!

That was all quite enjoyable. I realized the dance number with the balls was inspired by the Harlem Globetrotters, since “Sweet Georgia Brown” was their theme song. The part with Ginger and one dancer silhouetted against the background of small lights was striking. Television technology had progressed by then to allow such effects.

I keep saying it but wow! Ginger aged wonderfully and looked superb during the 1960s and 70s in particular.

      Uh, she's only 49 here.

@@dannybex Yes but compare her to say Bette Davis around this time - only 4 years older than Ginger.

This was all very cute :) I'd never seen Mr. C's show but I bet having Ginger Rogers on made it even better!

I thought the writers came up with some pretty clever stuff: IMDb credits: Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall, Episode #13.6. Writers: John Aylesworth and Frank Peppiatt. The Hugh Lambert Dancers. Filmed in NYC.

I have yet to see a dance number of hers without Fred that isn't painful to watch. No wonder she was so defensive and angry (at times) when asked about their partnership...

Never understood why her career stopped until I saw this clip. Short legs and the fashion changed after the war. She always wore long gowns with Fred. Could never compete with Cyd Charisse or Rita Hayworth .

Lol 😂 your totally missed the point , Ginger was not a dancer never had the training of a dancer as opposed to those you mentioned, as a famous reporter put it she was an actress who was dancing pretty amazing hue ! She was not a professional dancer at all !and that’s why all over the world it still Fred and Ginger even known by young generations while the others are sadly totally forgotten and btw Anne Miller said once Ginger was the perfect partner for Fred, and on top of that her career stopped not because of dancing the last dancing movie she made was the Barclays of Broadway in 1949 which was a huge success , she stopped because now that she was getting older they were offering her roles of women who were aging badly and other negative roles of older women, i live and work in Hollywood and they don’t like women getting older in this business but since she was a women proud of her gender she kept refusing and the male producers of hypocritical Hollywood didn’t like that ! But she continued her career on stage and btw Rita and Cyd didn’t make dancing movies as they we’re getting older either so your comment really shows ignorance

She did win an Oscar in 1940. She blended a career as a dramatic actress with that as a musical star as well as anyone.
