Complete brilliance: superb songwriting as ever. They were heroes in 1988 for being one of the first indie bands to bring decent music to the mainstream, and still are. Just listen to the covers album Echoes and Rhymes and then search out gems like 'Way Behind Me' or 'Sick of It'. Not to mention the Velvety dreams of 'Ocean Blue', 'Cold Enough to Kill' or the truly perfect 'Empathise'. A day in Primitives land is like touring The Prisoner's village on a flying guitar. You'll be in love forever.
I can NOT stop listening to this song...or watching the video! Here's hoping there'll be a full album of new original Primitives material. The covers were great...but nothing compared to the songs they write...so GLORIOUS!
Best new song from any band in ages. Just so good. Playing it a lot. Just so ruddy catchy!!!! Top night tonight at Hebden!! Live even better. Big love for that cracking song. Good sign when the best song is the newest in amongst a set of hits.
Good to see someone in B'ham is clued in to the Prims. B'ham Alabama that is. I'm down in Alex City and finding anyone who would even know Crash would be shocking. I so dream that they'd come to maybe Atlanta with say the stunningly beautiful & exquisitely diverse vocalist Kim Wilde. My wet dream i suppose!
Hmm. They needed a 5th guy to play keyboard. ... John Paul Jones plays keyboard while providing bass... just sayin... ;) ... but then, John Paul Jones can start a fire using only dental floss and water.
I'm just observing that JPJ played keyboards while doing bass with a bass pedal board, though just trolling. :) Zeppelin did power blues, so JPJ could play the relatively straightforward bass component with his foot while doing keyboard. The stuff that Raphael does can't be done by tapping a foot.
331SVTCobra Okey ...It seems that his Crooked Vulture supergroup project is history now... I remember that he produced the Datsuns some years ago... those wild kiwis
+Starry&Bohemian JPJ has a history of conquering, then moving on. He was in a hit band as a youth, quit and opened a successful recording studio, quit and was an irreplaceable component (as were the other three) of Led Zeppelin, and just keeps going. There's a video of him doing No Quarter with some bassist wearing a skirt. It's pretty cool... the video I mean (not the skirt). I can't help but compare Zep to ThePrims in that their studio songs sound one way, but they present the songs live with a lot more edge. (LOL, OTOH avg Prims song length =2:30, avg Zep song length live =8 min with a couple half hour songs.)
To be honest, you're pretty completely wrong! The Primitives music in the 80's was EXCELLENT! A large hardcore following will totally prove you wrong on that point! Regardless of what garbage supposedly stood the test of time in the general population's mind is completely irrelevant! Music that stands the test of time is a completely subjective and personal opinion issue. Judging by your general negative statements, you are NOT a TRUE Primiitives fan, therefore, your opinion carries zero weight! True Primitives fans are glad to see that you have SOME taste and like the more resent Primitives releases, as you should, but don't criticize this excellent band too much, until you know exactly what your talking about!
Didn't stand the test of time? Are you drunk, insane, or a Bieber fan? Today's high school kids are discovering The Prims and Zeppelin, two timeless bands.
Type in John Peels All Time Festive Fifty - 2000. That is what standing the test of time means in my view. I am not knocking the Primitives they actually made 3 Festive 50's during the 80's one song a year I think 86,87,88. This is a great song and I 'bought' yes bought the album on the back of it. It is OK and this is the standout track. If as I suspect you are from the US (use of the term High School and reference to Bieber) you are not familiar with the Festive 50, boy are you gonna thank me for sending in you that direction. Listen to them all you will not be disappointed. Have a good one.
名曲です。全盛期の頃の曲に引けを取りません。素敵です。
Agreed great song. The addition of keyboards give it such a full sound. My foot is tapping like a jack hammer.

+331SVTCobra Are you Seerious ?
John Paul Jones is really involved here !?

Tracy > Petula Clark >> all others.
They were pretty poor in the 80's to be honest. Their music then didn't stand the test of time. This, however, is pretty awesome. Me likey,
Whatever……………..
