The world needs more of this.
As someone who loves a man, is raising a young man, and has lost several important men in my life to addiction and/or battles with mental health, this is gutting, incredibly beautiful, and such a needed message. The expectation that men stuff their feelings down and push aside their broken hearts is so invalidating and unreasonable. We’re meant to be in community with each other as our whole, authentic selves.
To men who see vulnerability and emotional connection as a super power, not weakness- don’t dim your light because someone else says you should. We’re all a little broken, and we need each other. It’s okay to love and let yourself be loved in the way you deserve: wholly, fully, unconditionally. Feel the feelings, ask for help when you need it, and know you’re not alone. The right people will know how to love you.
