The scene after the bar fight in the hotel room Yul says "When that East German fellow..." - However, looking back at the history of the Cold War the Soviet Union was still infiltrated in East Germany and didn't leave East Germany until the 90s. Since this was the 88 Winter Olympic Games when you sound like a Vladimir you're getting called Vladimir. The more you know...
