My grandmother lived in Liverpool not far from the cavern in the 60s, she worked at this coffee shop a few blocks away from the cavern. One day on her lunch break, she went to the cavern and she was able to see the Beatles play a set. And the next day during her lunch break, she was walking to the cavern when she saw Paul and George talking to one another outside beside the entrance. She went up to them and said, you two are from that band the Beatles that played here yesterday right? Paul looked at her with a smile and he said yes we are. My grandmother had a good 10 minute conversation with them, she had no idea who she was talking to and what they were about to become. My grandmother said to me that they were just a band, and just a few years later than we're known world wide. 🙂😎
I'm a musician so I'd love to visit Liverpool and perform there,the Beatles are the reason I ever started to play in the first place,I absolutely love them! Bob

It's not the original cavern
I've been told many years ago that the warehouse is the same as one further down the street that was the real Cavern. The original Cavern was removed to accommodate an electric sub station.
I'm going with my son next month, I've been Liverpool so many times but was always working. This time it's just myself and my son, I've been playing guitar nearly 40years and he's been playing for just over 10 and we've just started a lovely little music project between us going and this Liverpool visit is just what we need! We're only in Leicester so it's just over 120 miles or so and I can't wait! England is so rich in music culture and I am so proud to be English. I love my Scottish, Welsh and Irish friends as well.. There's no animosity in my family but I love the banter we all have..

This place was engraved in the history of rock, where the Beatles developed their instrumental and vocal skills.
unfortunately, not this one. It's a replica of the old Cavern which was filled in completely in the 70s.

Beatles never played there, unfortunately. The one you’re seeing is a remake. They demolished the original to make a car par.
Not quite true. You need to look into the history of the Cavern and the area. Most of the buildings above ground are not the original buildings of the 50/60's but the basements are, they were never demolished just filled in. Well most of the basements in Liverpool are actually the old docks and boats would have been docking a few hundred meters in from where the modern day Albert docks are today.
Most of modern Liverpool where you go shopping these days is reclaimed land that was once the docks.
They began to excavate the old cavern in the early 80's after Lennon's death, but found that most of the original structure was unsafe once it had been dug out. They did manage to re-use the bricks from the original club though and re-build it like it use to look when the Beatles played there. It's not in the exact same position as the original but 3/4 of it is.
Another story you always here is about the entrance, and that it is not the original entrance. Well it's not the entrance you would have walked in to see the Beatles playing there but it is the entrance that was used from the late 60's.

@@spaceengineer1452 Yes but built from the original brickwork and mostly covering the same footprint of the original.
Many iconic places and monuments are not how they were or in their original places. The statue of liberty is not as it was built, marble arch was taken down block by block and moved further up the road and even Buckingham Palace didn't have the frontage you see today when it was built.
My point is that the cavern club is still in a way original, as it's the same bricks and 75% in the same place and looks virtually the same as it was in the 60's.

Honestly, I just picked a random song from RUclips's free audio library, because the video had received a copyright complaint from the live music that can be heard. I'm not sure of the name of it, but its under a more commonly used free audio track list.

No Beatles didn't play there,,it's a completely different building..
McCartney, Pace and Gilmour played there in 1999 but in another room on a new stage.

Sorry, but I would have loved to see more of the stage area. Afterall, that is the focal point of the entire place. Otherwise, wonderful video.

The Cavern where The Beatles played hasn’t existed for years. This isn’t even on the same site. It’s a close-ish replica built to fool tourists. The Beatles never set foot in this place.
Sure fooled me, still is cool to see some memorabilia in the imposter club.
The guy who is onstage is awful!! Wtf!?
