Big respect for this. When my son was about the same age. I noticed that he and I were failing at communication--something I swore wouldn't happen with MY kids. But I had no clue what to do. Then, through a couple of coincidences, I volunteered us both at the university radio station. For a year, once a week we spent 45 minutes driving to the uni, then 2 hours of re-alphabetizing albums, and 45 minutes drive home. There was nothing for it, but we had to talk. We talked music mostly, but it bled over into other things--like how he was feeling about the school he was in, what his hopes were (mine too), what he was reading/learning/listening to. At the end of the year in the basement, we made it to Z and decided we wanted to do something other than go back to A. So we pre-recorded episodes of a show that the station could drop in when a dj didn't show up for his/her show. The day we were driving with the rest of the family, turned on the radio, and realized that it was OUR SHOW they were playing--man, we were over the moon! I am still convinced that it's things like this--like this reaction video--that can spark conversations and help prevent estrangement. Music is amazing in the way it helps us relate to one another. Give your boy a manly fist bump from me, eh?
This was GREAT. I absolutely LOVED watching you give the gift, that is Ren's music. I think he would REALLY like Power. You BOTH have an AMAZING Christmas. 🎄❤🙂❤🎄
My goodness this was FUN! Please bring Lewis back for more reactions! He could even introduce you to the NF song he referenced and we could watch you react to it! Turn of the tables! This was great fun and thank you! Merry Christmas to you both and please consider joining your dad on more reactions! I'm here for it 🫶
It is so sweet to introduce this topic to your son. It is definitely a mature concept. He appears to be emotionally intelligent, and that says a lot about your relationship.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! 🫶 Your son's response was PRICELESS and it was so special to see! ❤ It was amazing to see you share something that impacted you with someone you care about and it impacted him. Please share more with Louis (Lewis?) and if you would it would be wonderful to be able to see his reaction as well!! Thank you thank you thank you both! ❤🫶❤️
Damn! What a great effort! Louis has the chops to fall hard. Make sure you mix the deep material with some of his fun stuff ( not because he can’t handle the deeper stuff, but because fun Ren is infectious). The Love Music series (of 4), What you Want, and the Big Push “Why my Woman” or “What Kind of Woman is this” or “Bongo Bong”. I’m excited to see how he gets into this. Hope he’ll agree to do more shared reactions! And, kudos to you for keeping your mouth shut for the entire video! I would’ve had a near stroke not pointing everything out throughout. Props, dad!
Ah! That defining moment in a young man's life when his dad sits him down to have "the talk!" You're a man now, Louis! Welcome to the Reniverse. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. Enjoy the journey!
Amazing reaction! It was an absolute joy seeing him experience Ren for the first time. I really enjoyed having him on 😊 hopefully he comes back for more.
Fabulous reaction! Your son's face when he 'got it' was perfect! He mentioned NF. He's a really good rapper/storyteller too! Thanks for this. Your son is a bright light, and it's clear on your face how proud you are.
Love this! Great idea to introduce teens to Ren they can really learn a great deal. Especially this song and the speech at end will bring up some good talks
Thanks to both of you.- Listen to something lighter like Bittersweet Symphony, Power or Losing it. Money Game is a lot to digest at the beginning.- Love from Germany and Happy Holidays ☮
Heck yeah! Great react! It’ll be so much fun sharing the journey with him! He might like 1990, or losing it, or there is the I shots the sheriff and war pigs with the red suspenders, money ties and power have a beautiful message and is still kind of light, dominoes has an incredible message but is a bit heavy, or love music 1 or all 4 for that matter! Or maybe what you want… there are just so many to choose from
Loved meeting your son. I think he's going to like pretty much anything Ren does. Does he like hip hop? Because there is a treasure trive of that. The busking for sure. Blow his mind and show him all the genres that Ren does. He'll be watching for a while. Great reaction. I loved your son's facial expressions, fantastic.
I would LOVE for Lewis to try more Ren with you. I've had my 16 year old daughter listen as well. You both should consider some of his fun songs too with The Big Push: Bongo, Bongo, Englishman in New York, and Praise You are great as well as Ren' s Power, Murderer video AND live acoustic versions, and Back on 74/ Message in a Bottle Retake. All fabulous and truly show his range. Maybe I can get my daughter to watch you react with your son. She sings, plays guitar, and it's quite a thinker who may enjoy hearing a youth's response from "across the pond" (We live on the border to British Columbia, Canada in Washington state.) Be well, and happy Holidays!❤
I had a Cousin in British Columbia. I've had mixed results sharing Ren with friends - one lady disliked 'Hi Ren' but loved Money ties. Seasons greetings from the UK.
What a nice surprise! Glad Lewis enjoyed the video! I definitely think he’d enjoy Money Game as well. What You Want and The Hunger could be some fun ones to react to with Lewis. What You Want is sort of an homage to Beastie Boys. Lastly, Ren is actually a big fan of NF. I would love to see them collaborate. Another artist I highly suggest checking out.
You need to get that young man in the VoiceOver‘s that deep voice is amazing. But it’s cool cause Ren can teach him things that he might take longer to learn if it weren’t for Ren. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ren sings and plays classical guitar and electric guitar and bass guitar and piano and drums. He does all genres...rock, hiphop, blues, jazz , soul, pop, raggae......all of it
If this kid’s voice gets any deeper he’s going to have to become a voice actor! He’d be great in a video game! It’s very Thanos in the “I did the evil things for a good reason” vein.
I love that you included your son in your reaction channel. This is EPIC! Not only acknowledging the genius that is REN, but showing your son! I LOVE YOU!!!!
I can see how much you fought back tears during the spoken word the part you closed your eyes for hits me too... "The brighter the light the darker the shadow". Keep fighting the good fight brother, youre doing great with your son!
I’ve just discovered your channel and have also fallen down the Ren rabbit hole! Amazing. I love that you shared it with your lad. The message is so important. Btw is that a Durham accent I detect? Fellow Durhamer here. Merry Christmas 🎉
Hi Louis! Welcome to Ren. Ren has different periods to his work depending on how sick he was. He was mostly bedridden from 19 to 26. But he wrote about a 1,000 songs then, only a few released.i think try Runaway from when he was in Trick the Fox at 19-20. Chalk Outlines live with Chinchilla. Power, for sure, Everybody Drops.
So nice to see you intro your son to Ren! Also your smile while we're watching was beaming I hope he finds some Ren that he likes. Keep us posted 🎉 Happy Christmas 🎄
Absolutely loved this. You've quickly become one of my favorite reactors for Ren and one of the main reasons is because your face is so expressive and now I see it's a family trait and it was great to see. I would love to see you react to Crutch by Ren ft. Bibi. It's one of his earlier ones and it's so worth it.
Oh Merry Christmas and Happy Solstice! Excuse me while I grab a tissue. This is my, hands down favorite HI Ren reaction EVER! What a privilege to watch the newest Renegade being introduced by Da. Lmao, your anticipatory expressions when you knew what was coming and your son’s expressions are just priceless! It’s obvious your son is cut from the same cloth. Just wonderful all around. Much Love ❤
I've been watching your Ren reactions since the start and I always thought you looked a bit familiar, it's because I have seen a few of you movie reactions before, with your son, this was brilliant, what a nice surprise!! Tell your son there's a lot of NF fans amongst the Renegades, in fact in a live stream, shortly after Ren dropped this song, someone aske Ren who his dream collab would be with a male artist, and he didn't miss a beat and said NF!! Again, great reaction! ✌💚
Love the connection you have with your son. Love to see a young person's take. Hopefully you will have him back on for more Ren so he can see how versatile he is.
Thank you so much for not influencing his watch and reaction. Well done dad. And thank you for sharing. Still watching to see what he has to say, but truly appreciate you giving him the space to experience it on his own terms. Top stuff.
As most Renegades, I have seen too many reactions to this song to count. And this one goes in my top 3. I loved the idea of closing the ever-growing generation gap with this sharing between you both. Very special. ❤
Need some cheerful Ren as its Christmas - Losing it, The Hunger, Animal Flow and love music 1 2 and 3 - also if you are into guitar, Ren is self taught and gives lessons on his patreon i think - have a great one :) xxx
I was about Lewis’ age when I was introduced to Pink Floyd. Although PF and Ren are obviously very different, they share some striking features. Firstly the absolute revolutionary reinvention of what what music and song writing can be, such as in the song Echoes, and the album Dark Side Of The Moon. Secondly PF shares with Ren stories of mental health journeys, such as their album The Wall; and preoccupation with social and political commentary such as the album Animals. Then you get general incredible autobiographical music such as the album Wish You Were Here. PF also examined universal life experiences, going back to some of the songs on Dark Side of the Moon. While Ren uses found sites to alter the sound of his voice and guitar, such as in Jenny & Screech and Violet’s tale, PF were the earliest users of recording sounds like frying eggs and cutlery on plates, alarm clocks and cash machines to create sounds beyond the usual musical instruments. Pink Floyd blew my mind wide open, and I *could* relate to the deeper, adult themes by concentrating on the lyrics and thinking over the ideas they explored. Even a song like Time, which talks about your life slipping away and not knowing how you got so old without noticing, my teenage mind could imagine and relate to it happening to me in the future, because it was expressed so well. I think Lewis could really relate to Ren’s deeper songs in a way surprising to you, because it’s like reading a book about a life completely different to yours, but really imagining this different life and acquiring understanding and sympathy to the characters. If Lewis is mentally well, he might be able to handle Jenny & Screech + Violet without it traumatising him, in the way a lot of teens appreciate and handle great Literature. Although like everyone else of every gender he might cry, and need to take a break off camera to cry it out, before coming back and giving his thoughts. IF he handles that, he may handle ‘Su!cide’, although as a dad you need to think that over and maybe discuss with him, and warn in advance about the context of the story. Talking about Ren’s misdiagnosis of a physical illness as Bipolar, and the terrible reaction he had to the wrong medications in preparation to watching Sick Boi may prepare him that although Western Medicine has some fantastic qualities in the Scientific Method and successes in eradicating most of the worst infectious diseases with vaccines, and saving the majority of people from cancer deaths, ruptured appendixes, and preventing most deaths from childbirth, it still has some blind spots and can fail patients badly in some circumstances. Chalk Outlines, How To Be Me, and Blind Eyed are just incredible music technically and melodically. And he may just love the filthy rap songs, that cheeky pushing of what’s socially acceptable is perfect for teenage impulses to push out of childhood, and push hard against social boundaries, a safe way to do it musically instead of actually breaking laws or being a crap boyfriend. Don’t underestimate a teenager’s abilities to handle and have really insightful things to say about deep themes, especially a teen not carrying trauma of their own. And of course there’s a lot of fun music Ren did with The Big Push.
❤. That was great. Don't underestimate your boy... You don't have have to be a crusty old codger get a swift kick in the feels from Ren. Thanks for bringing him on!
He had a maximum of four takes because the landlord of the property was kicking him out (Ren hadn't asked permission to film there). Ren was distraught because he thought that they hadn't managed to get a decent take. And then it just blew up on the internet - currently c.42 million views ! The world rightfully recognised it as a masterpiece.
This was so brilliant. Watching your face, while you anticipated the parts that you knew were going to impact your son was just so .....amazing. There were times were I was just laughing at your face as you anticipated his reaction and then his reaction...but it was also just amazing to watch the impact on your son's face. You absolutely need to have him back to react to more Ren.
I just discovered Ren a month or so ago. I have introduced all three grown kids and one granddaughter to him. It's fun being the papa and finding the good new music!
This is awesome :) :) 1st father and son Renegades team. Love the NF reference ... I love the Search. I agree with dad ... the harder stuff appeals to a harder rap crowd. More Ren please!
What a beautiful thing to do. Now I absolutely need to see more reactions to Ren and maybe other stuff with you two. Thank you for this and thank you for further explaining your son what's going on underneath the lyrics and everything.
That was such a great reaction from you two, really enjoyed that! Since Louis/Lewis mentioned quite a few rock bands, it's impossible not to recommend that you guys check out The Big Push - War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover), it's from the same busking session as I Shot the Sheriff. You will absolutely DIG it, guaranteed!
I think your son would love "Power" and " Losing it" they are a little more light hearted and Ren actually enjoys himself in the videos.... also I heard your son say he likes Bon Jovi... The Big Push also does a version of Black Sabbath's War Pigs.... that's fun to watch as well.
Ren is multi generational as well as multi genre 😊. So good seeing you both watching together, thanks for doing this. Defo think losing it or Power next, something lighter before getting into the tougher stuff
Loved this reaction (as always) and the comparison Lewis made to NF. NFs song HOPE is a great song that talks about some of the same topics Ren talks about in Hi Ren. Would absolutely looove seeing you react to NF - HOPE someday NF is a really unique artist as well and his lyrics and sound are amazing 🔥 if Lewis is already a fan, it would be so fun seeing him introduce you to an artist too 😊
I love this!! You've made Ren a Christmas memory💫 This is so special!! Thank you for sharing it with us Kev!! Merry Christmas to the both of you 🎄 I hope you enjoy the holiday!! Much ❤ ~ from Portland, Oregon... USA
Yes., more from your son. Money Ties after The Money Game Trilogy. All the busking including The Bit Push. Ren singing with Sam. Love Songs parts 1-4. Humble lyric video featuring Eden Nash. Ocean visualizer featuring Eden Nash. Anything with Chinchilla ou care to share
It’s so cute to see the Dad’s feelings from his life- experience while listening, and the the new generation analyzing what eventually is yet to come. Maybe Ren is able to put on knights armors around the next lineage of human beings. Swoop the word maybe. 😊
Great reaction guys! Definitely have to have had some life experience to deeply appreciate the context of the song but any age can appreciate the art! I reckon Louis would love Murderer and Losing it! Merry Christmas 🎄 🙌💜
I wish my family loved ren as much as me, or even had a kid I could show 😅 But I’m so glad you’ve got someone else to enjoy Ren with ❤happy festivities guys!
Love this so much! Your son has such an expressive face (in a good way), think he's going to love the ren rabbit hole and thank you for sharing that with us. Have a lovely Christmas 😊
Lewis, welcome to the wonderful world of ren, where you can always expect the unexpected 😊 your dad mentioned you were into nirvana (same with me 😂) ren actually has a video of him busking a cover of heart shaped box by nirvana, and I don't think your dad has seen it either. Yall should definitely check it out, it's so frickin good! 😁🥹💜
I never had a dad and most days i don't miss what I've never had. Then there are days like today. Well done, what a fine,:switched on, young man. I can already tell he is going the right way.
Your boy's face throughout the song was Priceless. Kudos to you dad, for sharing the Ren experience with your son.
Right! Very well functioning eyebrows right there.
YOU ABSOLUTE LEGENDS!!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL GIFT YOU SHARED WITH YOUR BOY!!! THANK YOU!
Ren❤❤❤❤ hi Lewis

OMG, Power is my favorite.
I mean, I have many favorites, but that's definitely one of them. 😁

It is so sweet to introduce this topic to your son. It is definitely a mature concept. He appears to be emotionally intelligent, and that says a lot about your relationship.
Now you have experienced one of the best parts of being a renegade. Introducing new people to our rabbit hole

What a lovely young man 😊I hope you show him the many sides of our Ren 😊😊
Amazing reaction! It was an absolute joy seeing him experience Ren for the first time. I really enjoyed having him on 😊 hopefully he comes back for more.
Oh my, his face looks like yours did when you first saw this. You are enjoying this too much😂
Fabulous reaction! Your son's face when he 'got it' was perfect! He mentioned NF. He's a really good rapper/storyteller too! Thanks for this. Your son is a bright light, and it's clear on your face how proud you are.
I’ve heard some Renegades mention they were reminded of NF before, and I really must check it out.
you got to show him the big push's cover of black sabbath- war pigs! 🤘🏻
Love this! Great idea to introduce teens to Ren they can really learn a great deal. Especially this song and the speech at end will bring up some good talks
Fabulous reaction. He understood the nuances we should never underestimate what the young feel.
What a remarkable young son you have, you should be very proud of him. He's very articulate and thoughtful, a great reaction, well done Lewis
Thanks to both of you.- Listen to something lighter like Bittersweet Symphony, Power or Losing it. Money Game is a lot to digest at the beginning.- Love from Germany and Happy Holidays ☮

I think a 16 year old has had plenty of life experiences to identify with RENs Hi Ren. It’s universal for most ages
He does all genres...rock, hiphop, blues, jazz , soul, pop, raggae......all of it
Wonderful job dad raising a son who doesn’t relate personally to such a song but shows empathy for those whose experience is close to Ren’s.

Dynamic duo 🎉
I just discovered Ren a month or so ago. I have introduced all three grown kids and one granddaughter to him. It's fun being the papa and finding the good new music!
Ahhh You two! Great reaction. Now go listen to "Power" for a positive fix.
Be well 🎶💙🕊
Aww, he's grown up so much since the Harry Potter journey. :)
Absolutely awesome your face watching Lewis watching Ren that's me watching reactors haha great duo he's a credit to you you must be so proud ❤
This is awesome :) :) 1st father and son Renegades team. Love the NF reference ... I love the Search.
I agree with dad ... the harder stuff appeals to a harder rap crowd. More Ren please!
I think he might enjoy The Big Push stuff.
What a beautiful thing to do. Now I absolutely need to see more reactions to Ren and maybe other stuff with you two. Thank you for this and thank you for further explaining your son what's going on underneath the lyrics and everything.
Another of Ren's songs that I really enjoy, is 'back on 74'. It really showcases his vocal ability. I think both you and your son would enjoy it!
He's one of a kind, yes and none his like to follow I'd say. Once in a generation talent .
RENEGADES SWARM GOOD REACTION HERE 👍✌️❤️
You should react to Losing It together. It's a fun song and really upbeat. Ren is a bit cheeky in it but nothing a 16 yo hasn't heard before.
I wish I had seen this as a younger man. It’s wonderful that you’re showing this to your son. I hope he takes something from it.❤
I'm so excited!!! Let's goooo!!!
Me too
Just finished an almost 8 hr live of REN !!! BUT can never have enough ❤
I think your son would love "Power" and " Losing it" they are a little more light hearted and Ren actually enjoys himself in the videos.... also I heard your son say he likes Bon Jovi... The Big Push also does a version of Black Sabbath's War Pigs.... that's fun to watch as well.
Great reaction 👍 Fantastic to see dad & lad sharing this true GENIUS together ❤
Nice to meet you Louis ! Thanks for checking out Ren! Loved your reaction
Would absolutely looove seeing you react to NF - HOPE someday
NF is a really unique artist as well and his lyrics and sound are amazing 🔥 if Lewis is already a fan, it would be so fun seeing him introduce you to an artist too 😊
Love an intro, thank you both, Bongo Bong is a fave of mine 🙏🦉❤️🐊👍
Your son has great screen presence. I’d love him to see and react to more.
I love this!! You've made Ren a Christmas memory💫 This is so special!! Thank you for sharing it with us Kev!! Merry Christmas to the both of you 🎄 I hope you enjoy the holiday!! Much ❤
~ from Portland, Oregon... USA
You guys need to listen to Ren's Love Music 3 to cheer you up. And Losing It. Happy Christmas!
I love that you shared this with your son! Definitely show him more!
Wonderful! You've a sweet boy there, and you're a good dad.❤️
Have a lovely Christmas.🌼
Yes., more from your son. Money Ties after The Money Game Trilogy. All the busking including The Bit Push. Ren singing with Sam.
Love Songs parts 1-4. Humble lyric video featuring Eden Nash. Ocean visualizer featuring Eden Nash. Anything with Chinchilla ou care to share
Great reaction. Welcome to your son. ❤
More please!
Hello from SR7 , great reaction lads. Let's have some more, Cheers.
It’s so cute to see the Dad’s feelings from his life- experience while listening, and the the new generation analyzing what eventually is yet to come.
Maybe Ren is able to put on knights armors around the next lineage of human beings.
Swoop the word maybe. 😊
Absolutely love NF The search...Lewis, U should definitely show Ur dad! I'm sure he would appreciate it sending love from Australia xx
I love that your son immediately sees the talent and goes for it!
Your son will like ren - fire
Great reaction guys! Definitely have to have had some life experience to deeply appreciate the context of the song but any age can appreciate the art!
I reckon Louis would love Murderer and Losing it!
Merry Christmas 🎄 🙌💜
I wish my family loved ren as much as me, or even had a kid I could show 😅
But I’m so glad you’ve got someone else to enjoy Ren with ❤happy festivities guys!
Love this so much! Your son has such an expressive face (in a good way), think he's going to love the ren rabbit hole and thank you for sharing that with us. Have a lovely Christmas 😊
Top shelf. I've never seen a 16 year old stay engaged for 9 minutes. Brilliant reaction gentlemen. And great patter.
Introduce him to The Hunger, and Murderer, too!
You both really should listen to the Money Game Trilogy! Your son will love it ... sind think about it a lot... 👍
Great reaction. Was great watching your sons face. Keep it up xx
Absolutely brilliant!!! Well done.
💛💛💛
"Dominoes" next. It has a very relevant message to his age group.
😮 Wow! What a reaction. Louis, your face and expressions show that you enjoyed it. Y’all gotta check NF as well.
Awesome, Ren did a Nivana Cover Heart Shaped Box.

I never had a dad and most days i don't miss what I've never had. Then there are days like today.
