Good thinking is the skill of putting the available information to the best use possible.
Good thinking is more than critical thinking, logic, and analysis. It also includes creativity, exploration, design, and perception ✨
The best thinkers use a BIG tool box 🛠📦
They’re skilled at both analytical and elastic thinking (check out my previous video on Elastic Thinking 🪢)
So, how do we learn to think?
And how do we teach our kids?
Edward de Bono wrote an amazing book on this exact topic: Teach Your Child How To Think 🧠

"If children are being told WHAT to learn, WHEN and HOW to learn, 6 hours a day, 5 DAYS A WEEK - no wonder CREATIVE THINKING in children is plummeting, and ANXIETY & DEPRESSION is continuing to rise." ~ Kirsty Lee

Teaching is something one person does to another person.
As long as the conversation is about teaching I suspect nothing will change when it comes to public education.
Shift total focus to personal learning and watch how much faster kids learn math, history, and each of those other core competencies.
All potential personal topics of interest have hooks into core educational competencies and when these are personally connected, no teaching is required. Only coaching, mentoring, and wise guidance.
Learning aka thinking is something personal that we do for ourselves without coercion and other harsh factory education tactics.
Far more is caught than taught... so modeling what it looks like to always be learning is how you let someone learn how to think for themselves.

This is really well done. I just learned this at a leadership conference and was looking for a short video for my wife. This really fit the bill. Nice work!

Best one I have heard recently
Something wrong with Mike? Audio has screeching sound after each word.

Great video, before this video I didn’t knew how to explain this thanks for this, I had this kind of process but didn’t knew how to explain to other. I don’t know how I got this kind of thinking not for sure from school system, I always relate it to my Maternal grand father he was like this. Am sure I had it in my Gene & that why I was different from my school kid & hates school of remember & pass the exam. I can’t work without logic.

Great video! Just bought the six hats book and also reading thinking in bets now! I wish there was a synthesis school for adults!
Constructive criticism for your videos: I can hear echo, get a lapel microphone or something to get better audio 😀

Interesting ideas. Also interesting that the hats were all traditionally masculine!

Great video! 👏🏽 Should it be the “breadth” of the situation? Not breath? 😊

I was gonna let that slide since everything else was excellent... But I was definitely looking for this comment.
