    The cache is the biggest difference really, as long as you can keep the cache misses lower the performance increases and data starvation reduces which is bound to happen with a 192bit memory interface.

    • @Leeki85
      @Leeki85 11 месяцев назад +1

      Bus width is irrelevant. There are older GPUs with 256bit or wider and they have less than 20% of RTX 4070 Super performance. Memory bandwidth is all that matters. Cache is important since, shaders usually do heavy calculation on small amount of data at a time.
      I wouldn't say cache on GPU works the same way as on CPU. It's not about cache misses since GPUs are optimized for parallel calculations and they don't predict branches, but rather work on a steady stream of data. Cache is used to mitigate high latency of GDDR memory.
      In productivity software RTX 4070 Super gets nearly the same performance as 4070 Ti. 2-3% less. In such software GPU works on a constant stream of data. It seems amount of cache is the limiting factor there. In other words cache can't be filled fast enough to saturate RTX 4070 Ti CUDA cores. Perhaps memory bandwidth is not enough.
      This is why RTX 4070 Ti Super is getting only minor increase in CUDA cores, but will have higher bandwidth (along with 256bit bus).
      I would say that in the future gap between RTX 4070 and 4070 Super will be even larger in games. There will be increasingly complex shaders and post-process effects that will further utilize larger cache.

    We have proven here that when AMD competes, Nvidia reacts and fights back somehow. The 4070Super is evidently a counter over 7800xt's price/performance value. If Intel can enter this segment, consumers might get more performance for their money. I also foresee the same with 4070TiSuper and 4080Super but those cards out of reach and is just too much for majority of pc gamers. We need these companies duking it out in the 150 to 250 segment fighting tooth and nail over supremacy and top steam gpu hardware survey... Bring back the value of the GTX10 series, a golden era for pc gpu...

      4070 is worse than a 7800XT by 5-10% expect on RT
      4070 super is about 8-12% better than 7800XT except in RT
      But pricing in my region
      4070 - 510$ for inno 3d , 550$ for gigabyte wind force
      7800XT - 500$ for the pulse and 560$ for the nitro
      4070 super - not out yet but official prices starts at 630$ but I expect it to be no less than 660$ for aftermarket AIBs
      TLDR
      7800XT - more VFM on 4k
      NVIDIA for 1440p

    In my country the 7900 XT with 20GB VRAM is just 50 EUR more expensive than the 4070 Super. A comparision with this card instead of the 7800 XT makes more sense. I also think that AMD will reduce prices in the upcoming days, so a comparison with the 7900 XT makes even more sense. Amd needs to lower the 7800xt to 450-maybe 475 or theres no point to buying it over this or even the 4070, if you are willing to buy used (at least here in america, not sure what prices are like over there) but the 3080ti is pretty attractive at 550ish if you can get it for that and a 3080 if you can find it at 450ish. But prices are jumping in the USA pretty fast thanks to a resurgence in crypto mining, I wouldn't panic or anything but I think this month is the month to buy a new or used card when the super series pushes down prices.

    yeah where you are in the world matter for sure, In Canada cheapest 7800xt $670, 4070 $735 and 4070 super is $810 pre tax. Which means we get the US MSRP but $600 for the best 1440p card feels $100 to much. Probably if it was a 16gb card at $600 would be enough as it would give me confidence of it being a 3-5 year card instead of it being a 2. At least its a step in the right direction but I feel this refresh is only good because It will force the next gen down a bit. If AMD releases 4070 super performance for $450 and close to 7900XTX for $600 in the next 6-8 months then NVIDIA will have to release a 5070 for $650 that is close to the 4080.
