Test drove the 3.0 MKZ and really liked it. I think it compares favorably with the cars in the lower end of its price range (i.e. 35-40K) but is punching above its weight class when you start piling on enough options to get into the 50-65K range. I wound up buying a Genesis G80, but the MKZ was on my short-list. Great car.
Yo Mike- the smirk on yiur face when you first "get on it"" tells me, yiou are part of the brotherhood that from 16 years old, the pleasure of accelerastion , makes us forever gearheads.
These are super hard to find. If I can snag one, I will. I was going to get the Fusion Sport, but the power and exterior styling of the Lincoln has me sold.
I have a 15 MKZ 2.0 Turbo and this car here, A 17 MKZ 6 CYL Bi Turbo, and I"m truly at a loss as to why I don't see more of them on the road. The quality of workmanship is so superior, Lincoln Motors really pulled out all of the stop to create this car. I think also, by cutting the Mercury brand, they could really focus in these MKZs. Such a shame I don't see more of them.
after a TON of fricken research this is my next car. fantastic car. and Consumer Reports, the most accurate rating organization for cars, lists the mkz and genesis g80 as "89", the top of luxury sedan, over all the euro jags, bmw, mercedes, volvo. the best right now, bar none.
Lincoln is certainly letting Cadillac know it is observing their customers with new products but Cadillac is still a step above Lincoln in terms of sport/luxury/performance with V-series. But Lincoln has reconstructed itself to rival Cadillac quite well especially with Continental and MKZ and the new Navigator. Look out Cadillac!
Matt Doyle the ATS-V doesn't compete with this car, it competes with something like a BMW M3. And in that case, I would prefer the M3. Cadillac makes some of the most unreliable cars around, and they're rated worse than MB at this point. Meanwhile, Lincoln is striving to compete with Lexus as an American alternative for reliability. The Cadillacs are also cheaply put together with sub par quality interiors, while this car is the polar opposite of that. I would take anything over a Cadillac, because I like not feeling like I was taken for a ride by the dealership because I bought a POS. I drive a Lexus, and I could see myself deviating from them to give Lincoln a shot.
When you said "Cadillac makes some of the most unreliable cars around" what do you specifically mean? "The Cadillacs are also cheaply put together with sub-par quality interiors." I greatly opposed this sentiment because Cadillac art-and-science design language went through great lengths to ensure quality was met with hand-stitched and crafted leather with the finest authentic woods made available. I am not saying Lincoln doesn't build cars with confidence levels of competing with tier-two brands but Cadillac is a step above Lincoln in all most every level in part of sport-oriented driving cars, luxury appointments that are apparent, and the craftsmanship that is compelling to know it is a Cadillac beyond all else.
You sold me on my Ford Fusion Titanium AWD 3 years ago. Yesterday I purchased a similar layout (CPO) from the same dealership. It was a great buying experience, plus South Hills Lincoln had a coach door Continental in the showroom.
I got the Fusion Sport. I like the looks better than the MKZ. The MKZ is definitely more of a sleeper though. There are tunes out already for the Fusion Sport that might put it on par with the MKZ 3.0 TT out of the box. Not sure I want to tune my Sport though. It's plenty fast for me.
I was working at a Lincoln dealership back in 2017 and got to drive these 3.0 twin turbo MKZs and God damn...these things are fast AF!!! Serious sleeper. Throw a tune on it and you'll piss off a lot of people at red lights hahahah
I already commented on your other video on the 3.0T. But I forgot to mention how much nicer the 2017 interior is. All the little upgrades and little touches on the 2017 really impressed me over my 2014. The ride is better, it's quieter, and everything feels a bit more special. Lincoln did a great job with the 2017. It no longer feels like a Ford.
I have a 2011 MKZ with AWD and a Challenger SRT8 for spring and summer. Looks like I can have both in one now, or close enough. I'll miss the Challenger, for sure, but damn. 400 hp + luxury + drive all year = hell yes. Smoky burnouts and cranking Molly Hatchet while blasting down the highway will be missed, but hey, gotta grow up sometime.
Lincoln (Ford) make some great cars. My first car was a Lincoln Zephyr 2007 (The predecessor to the MkZ) and it ran smooth felt like a tank and very comfortable. That car sells for about $5k now and is a bargain for anyone who needs a reliable car. I have since "upgraded" to a 2011 Lincoln MkZ and it just gets better. Higher quality parts can feel the sturdiness of the doors.
a good friend has the last year of the last front grill, I think 2015. He ordered a new 2014 with a V6 3.7 in a black label and the salesperson made a mistake and ordered it in a 4 banger. She told him he would love it and he told her he wouldn't and wanted a V6, so also while he was thinking about it , he decided against the Black Label, anyway the 2014 was out of production by this time ( April 2014) so he wound up with a 2015 with a 3.7. he is very happy with it
I've had a base model 2016 MKZ with the 2.0 engine for a bit over two and a half years. Mine is the Premier model, it is black with a black interior. The only option was slightly larger, polished aluminum wheels. I'm not associated with Ford, or any car company or dealer. Here's my thoughts: Overall, the MKZ is an incredible car. I've made several cross country trips and put about 24K miles without any problems. It's quiet and comfortable. The number of included "toys" (even in the base model) will keep your inner-geek happy as the miles go by. And I've been really happy with the mileage as those miles go by - combined city/highway mileage since I've owned the car is 29.5 mpg and I run regular gas - not premium. As far as the power train goes... The 2.0 engine is a great match for this car. I've never felt like the car was under-powered at all. In fact, it has quite a bit of spunk. Don't get me wrong, it's not a Corvette, but I've been very happy with it. But adding the 3.0 engine requires the top trim level - Reserve and the 4 wheel drive option. In all, this adds $10,635 to the base $35,600 price. And while that option adds even more toys... But then I watched the expression on your face every time you accelerated. Guess I'll have to drive one. But the point is, you'll be happy with the base 2.0 engine in the MKZ. I've heard some criticize the quality of the interior. I've been very pleased with the design and quality of the interior. It has a unique "arty" feel that I like. The back seat is a reasonable size - no one has complained to me. The controls on my center dash are very arty looking electronic slide switches. They look very cool, but its SO easy to press the wrong buttons. But I see they've changed this in the new models to a more traditional console. Not sure how I feel about it. As far as the overall styling goes, I love the look of this car. So many cars look the same these days. To me, the interior and exterior both make a statement. I wasn't too sure about the new front grill introduced in 2017, but it has grown on me. At this point, I am 6 months away from a new car. I'm considering another MKZ, or maybe a Cadillac ATS or CTS. But the ATS, while similar in price, is quite small. The CTS is equivalent in size but starts out $10K higher. Putting 10K of options into an MKZ gets you a pretty deluxe ride. But then there's that 3.0 option, too...
I love my 2015 Lincoln MKZ! 2.0 Ecoboost AWD black on black. Livernois Motorsports tune to engine. 20" black RT-6 wheels / Yokohama lo- pro high performance tires! Stock was 19" polished aluminum wheels. Great performance & reliability!
Great video review. I like your style when reviewing cars, especially how you go through the settings menu etc. Makes me miss my infiniti Q50, the infotainment was buggy but the handling and acceleration was always fun! Keep up the great work! 👍🏼
I hated the front grille on the previous version. all I kept saying to myself was, "if only they changed the grill." and it looks like that's all they change on the exterior. So, my prayers have been answered. that's pretty crazy. now, I think the car just looks awesome. I also said to myself the second I first saw the car how awesome it looked from the rear. I'm glad they didn't change that.
Or maybe the Jaguar who were owned by Ford at one point copied Lincoln. I would say that 2017 Lincoln is influenced by older Lincoln cars and not Jaguar.
Lincoln got back in the game and hit a home run for the masses with this. I think this revamped version is sleek and best interpretation of the BMW “Bangle Butt” trunk lid. Lincoln seems to be a strong competitor of Cadillac again thanks to the MKZ. This time around Lincoln is attracting younger buyers and building momentum representing what a luxury car should be.
Daniel Banas that 3.0 gives everyone the best of both worlds. It's so unbelievably fast for a luxury car. And you're lucky, my first car was a very yellow 93 Ranger.
Daniel Banas same here brother. I’ve owned six Lincolns and I’ve been teased too. I don’t care. My first car was a 1996 Continental which I still own and nobody could ever understand why I drove a Lincoln. Then I let those same people drive my car and they immediately wanted one. I’m a die hard Lincoln guy and I don’t drive these cars to impress other people. I drive them because I love them.
2017 Ford Taurus SHO has all the same features including the back window power shade for about 10k less. SHO comes with 365HP 3.5L EB AWD that can easily be boosted to 450 HP with an inexpensive tune, and CAI. Fastest car I've ever drove on the street. 0-60 in low 5s and more torque than you will ever need.

Just bought this car yesterday 2017 3.0tt awd 26,000 miles for $18,999. Talk about a deal. Doesn't have a pano roof though which sucks I really wanted one.
I have the body style from the previous version and I like it better than this, I got to drive this one, and mehh wasn't that impressive.. I like the touch and my interior I think is better than this.. There is a slight difference in the drive, after I switched handling and preformance to the sport feature.. It was OK.. Overall very slight changes between mine and this. I like mine better.. Lol. Great video. One thing I would like on my are the puddle lights.. Might seem trivial to you guys but I want those lights.
I came across your older video on the 2017 MKZ. I think that's one of the most beautiful sedans on the market. Now I hear Ford will stop it's sales in the US. I think the Fusion and the MKZ along with the Continental should remain. I have been shopping for a low mileage 2017-18 MKZ. A 2017 reserve AWD with the base 2.0 EcoBoost (I'm wanting the V6 TT) has an avg price around $24,000 (21,000 miles). Even with the base engine. The burgundy MKZ I'm looking at is simply a beautiful luxury sedan. Thanks for the very helpful past video.
Love the looks of the new MKZ. I'd love to see this go up against the SHO since it's a 3.0 and the torque curve should be much better. I love the new layout of the center stack/console, but the one thing that would bug me every single day is how much space they used just for the passenger airbag light. Seriously, who decided on that?!
Nice review, thank you. This is my #1 choice to replace a lemon I am in the process of having Hyundai buy back. Although I will most likely get the MKZ hybrid.
This car, IS A CAR FOR LIFE!! Buy it, keep it, Knowing that it is more powerful than the Taurus SHO. I was thinking of the horror of buying a 6 cyl Turbo without doing rresearch, assuming that meant 400 HP awd and getting instead, the sqwuealing FWD 350 HP!! Why did Lincoln even offer that combo? I just learned today , wow.
Had one, traded it on a RAV 4. First off, so low to the ground that the air dam in front acts as a snow plow, building up snow under the front until you get to the point you are stuck in your own driveway. Great if all the streets are plowed. The high tech headlights. There are no fog lights and the high tech lights are so bright people coming towards you think you have your high beams on even when they are on low beams. With no fog lights there is no way they can really see you switched the lights. Ate gas like crazy. I got 16 mpg at its best, driving like a little old man. My RAV4 his higher, does not get stuck in my own drive way, has fog lights and gets 35 mpg.
That backseat legroom looks tighter than a Ford Focus. You had to keep your legs wide around the seats to sit in the back, might be a deal breaker for me.
I don't know why they make mid-sized sedans like this with less legroom and headroom than a compact car. From the outside looking in you would think the interior is more spacious for taller folks. Its a pretty long car.
I can fit 4 people in my backseat.. It's not as tight as you think. Besides its got bucket seats in the back so it's not ment to have a ton of people back there. It's a semi luxury car.. LMAO.. And he is 6'2 so he has that seat all the way back
I'm about to buy it and it bugs me...my 2014 MKZ with the different front looks fine, keeping the exact same back on this new Continental style car is weird... But the 400 chipped at 480hp is amazing on that car!!
I have the 2016 MKZ with the 3.7L. Sometimes, I wish I had waited a year, but I am pretty happy with it. The only real annoyance that I have is that the seat cooling does not seem to reach up the back. The bottom cushion will feel like I am sitting on an ice cube, but the back will still be hot.
400hp and 400fpt make this engine interesting. And if they turn out to be reliable engines, definitely a winning platform. 400fpt is more than enough for any 4 door, on a 25mph speed limit.
Ah, this is nice. I saw a video of that other new Lincoln with the weird/ugly exterior door handle treatment. Door handles on this look like what you get on a 5 series. Much better
You have an accent. Are you Mennonite? Sounds a little Germanic. I grew up in Germany and spoke German as a kid so I know a little about it. Love the 2017 Lincoln MKZ. Nice video, good audio, and 4K so I appreciate that. Much more refined than the Fusion Sport in my opinion.
Thank you ! If you are referring to the FWD 350HP version I can't really say because I have not driven it, only the AWD 400. I'm sure that the FWD would feel lighter but I honestly would not want a FWD car with 350HP.. it's to much power lol
Hey this was filmed right where I grew up! I drive by that Lincoln dealership all the time and recognized the McMurray/Peters Township area out the windows lol nice
I drive a very well kept 09 3.5 v6 Mercury Sable Premier and I had a 3.0 v6 09 fusion before that. Ford makes really strong powerful engines. My Sable premier with charcoal executive leather still looks as Luxury as these new cars. Not to mention the 265 horsepower and 260 torque. Easily goes from cruise to roadster in a flash. Love Ford Lincoln and Mercury. When I'm on the road and i see like a Mkz Mks Fusion and i pull up chromed out in my Sable. We all kinds know we're gonna eat this road up. Ford wins!
Wow that MKZ AWD 3.0T is a heavy car. Right off the manufacturer website: 4,191 curb. I think for a performance equivalent, not quite "luxury" would be the Taurus SHO with the 3.5T. But it's also 4,140 pounds (AWD) and down on power in comparison, surprisingly.
LINCOLN MKZ 3.0T. - What the Fusion should be. Power. Luxury interior. Sound system, roof, adjustable suspension, drive modes. And you said you liked it!
The Lincoln MKZ was already a Sharp Looking Sedan (SLS). The Jaquar Styled Front Grill Fascia raised This Car to The Sugar Sharp Sedan (TS3) Category. 93 Octane 400 HP Don't the let the Gas Level go below a Half of Tank.
Great review as usual! I have test driven a 3.0 MKZ and estimated the 0-60 in around 5 seconds flat and quarter mile times of around 13.5. Do you think my estimates are close?
4.8 make sense just first to see credible thanks for update I'm guessing stock show at 5.1 sec. The MKZ Is a car to consider just need to see what I lose I am a where SHO has large radiator and brakes and 3.16 axle ratio.MKZ must have a decent axle ratio and gearing for that time.
The MKZ 3.0 has a 3.16 gear. I look forward to the tuning companies developing tunes for the 3.0. I have a Lincoln MKS with a tune from Livernois and it will do 0-60 in 3.9 and run the quarter in 12.67. That is with a 2.77 gear!
I test drove an MKZ when I ended up buying my Fusion. It just felt like an extra trim level over the Titanium and not enough difference to justify the price jump. Is this all that much better than the big motor Fusion??? Maybe just in the seat comfort and power in the audio system, but doesn't seem leaps over the Fusion. If I were looking at these new, I'd probably end up in something different for the money a new one commands.
I just added a 400 watt Amp & Changed 4 speakers( 2 base) o my 2015 MKZ and got the same Stereo and CD sounds.. and Were I live.. don't even try to do 5 mph over th elimit anywhere.. $250 tickets.. No Camaro's or Corvettes around here either..
A little disappointed they didn't do the 360 camera and thigh cushion extenders like the MKX, but the engine makes this a real contender in the segment.

I think it compares favorably with the cars in the lower end of its price range (i.e. 35-40K) but is punching above its weight class when you start piling on enough options to get into the 50-65K range. I wound up buying a Genesis G80, but the MKZ was on my short-list. Great car.
I have a 2014 Fusion and just bought a 2017 MK-Z. I Love it..
"Hot Rod Lincoln" comes back into play.
Such a shame I don't see more of them.
after a TON of fricken research this is my next car. fantastic car. and Consumer Reports, the most accurate rating organization for cars, lists the mkz and genesis g80 as "89", the top of luxury sedan, over all the euro jags, bmw, mercedes, volvo. the best right now, bar none.
looks like jaguar and ford fusion had a 1night stand and this was born
Hahaha
hahaha. 2 sexy cars to begin with gave rise to a god chiseled beauty
XiUNOiX Ford is the parent company of jaguar
Not a bad thing an All AMERICAN ! Great vehicles every new Lincoln. Love mine.
@@theshield1613 Ford sold jaguar to Tata in India like 10 years ago
My next car. Can’t wait. Great review Mike.
Here I am 5 yrs later and I’ve owned the car for a few years now. Bought the shadow black 3.0 T and love this car.
Lincoln really outshines Cadillac these days...
So you'd take this over an ATS-V?
matt molloy not really lmao.
For a car with such a slick silhouette, the car's details make it look so busy.
Leased one in 2017 in PA, wonderful vehicle and super reliable with me, handled great in the winter! Honestly miss my old one
This is my dream car wish me luck for the future because im gonna try and get one
Did you get it? I hope you did
Me too brother
How’s it going?
I currently have a fusion, and the 3.0 MKZ is definitely gonna be the next sedan I get
a good friend has the last year of the last front grill, I think 2015.
Here's my thoughts:
Overall, the MKZ is an incredible car.
Lincoln os the best made american car!
I love my 2015 Lincoln MKZ! 2.0 Ecoboost AWD black on black. Livernois Motorsports tune to engine. 20" black RT-6 wheels / Yokohama lo- pro high performance tires! Stock was 19" polished aluminum wheels. Great performance & reliability!
Love the Lincoln MKZ AWD Ecoboost! Great cars. Own one and plan on getting another. #Ecoboost #Lincoln
I drove a 2.0T last night. It was a bit underwhelming. Excited for the dealership to get a 3.0T in so I can test drive that.
*Car & Driver got Zero to 60 in 4.8s with a 13.4s 1/4 mile.*
that shiny grille makes it look like a Jaguar
Or maybe the Jaguar who were owned by Ford at one point copied Lincoln. I would say that 2017 Lincoln is influenced by older Lincoln cars and not Jaguar.
Lincoln got back in the game and hit a home run for the masses with this. I think this revamped version is sleek and best interpretation of the BMW “Bangle Butt” trunk lid. Lincoln seems to be a strong competitor of Cadillac again thanks to the MKZ. This time around Lincoln is attracting younger buyers and building momentum representing what a luxury car should be.
I have this car with the smaller engine (a Reserve)...and FWD...love it....you hit it right.
I work for Lincoln, and these things are so awesome! I feel the same way about the Fusion Sport. My F-150 with the 2.7 almost feels faster.
It really is awesome and yes, the truck is almost as fast..
AutoVlog I put it in sport mode when my wife was testing it. Scared the hell out of her!
Sam Schossig Bought my first Lincoln because of a chance encounter when I was 18.... A 2010 MKZ. At 19 I upgraded to the 17 3.0t awd. Lol
Now that this car has gotten a lot cheaper I’m starting a search for one , beautiful car
Oh boy, I like this car a lot!
great review! I had a 2011 Lincoln mks , downgraded to a chev cruze , great little car, struck some luck a month ago won a lottery draw, now I can get this car , cant frigggen wait ,, I'm a humble guy but this car !!! I cant help but to splurge a bit
Congrats!
Just bought this exact car used with 27k miles s for 28k and I luv it!
Just bought this car yesterday 2017 3.0tt awd 26,000 miles for $18,999. Talk about a deal. Doesn't have a pano roof though which sucks I really wanted one.
That was a steal. Im looking at getting one this month
You did a excellent job!! I'm planning on getting one.
Lincolns look sharp these days!
I love this car, Avis let me rent the Black label 3.0 and I just keep extending it lol
I may be by myself here but I like the spit wing grill of the previous model MKZ a little better.
Christian Adams I don't dislike the new one, but I think Lincoln had finally got it right, especially on their trucks like the MKC and MKX.
I agree. But if I had a twin turbo 3.0L model, I wouldn't complain hehehe
No way I like the new one
Christian Adams I see how you do but I think this one is much better
Very nice and detail discription i love the car
The best transverse engine sedan. Period!
For the best performance, you must use 93 💯
That backseat legroom looks tighter than a Ford Focus. You had to keep your legs wide around the seats to sit in the back, might be a deal breaker for me.
I don't know why they make mid-sized sedans like this with less legroom and headroom than a compact car. From the outside looking in you would think the interior is more spacious for taller folks. Its a pretty long car.
Yea, as soon as I saw that I went "aw wtf". Can't buy this because of it.
My daughter's 2013 Hyundai Elantra has more backseat legroom than the MKZ
I can fit 4 people in my backseat.. It's not as tight as you think. Besides its got bucket seats in the back so it's not ment to have a ton of people back there. It's a semi luxury car.. LMAO.. And he is 6'2 so he has that seat all the way back
the front and the rear look like they belong to two different cars. sth is off with the back
Didier Molar yes ..hopefully they update the next one
The last generation really looks good and goes great together. This one your right not too much
The back is awesome
I'm about to buy it and it bugs me...my 2014 MKZ with the different front looks fine, keeping the exact same back on this new Continental style car is weird... But the 400 chipped at 480hp is amazing on that car!!
Didier Molar no way. It's gorgeous ..runs great..& rock solid reliable.
My future car
Yeah, probably going to try trade for a used 2017 MKZ 3.0 AWD once my Fusion payments are up. Seems like a beast.
You really need to look at Mercedes C43 AMG. Perfect competition to the MKZ 3.0. I dunno which one to pick!!
We had one as a service loaner at the dealership I worked for. Let's just say it made the golf R scared when I drove it on the interstate.
Fantastic review. Thank you so much!
Should've bought this car Mike. Its so much better than those BMWs and Mercedes you've been playing around with lately.
400hp and 400fpt make this engine interesting. And if they turn out to be reliable engines, definitely a winning platform. 400fpt is more than enough for any 4 door, on a 25mph speed limit.
What is your favorite vehicle you have reviewed so far? Great video as always!
Thank you! That would be the 2017 Shelby GT350 :)
Yes, that is a VERY nice car!
Da car I wish I got, love my 2019 MKT but, hey Lincoln bring back sedans like these, pipe dream I know.
Ah, this is nice. I saw a video of that other new Lincoln with the weird/ugly exterior door handle treatment. Door handles on this look like what you get on a 5 series. Much better
I have a fusion. But I want one of these so bad. This one has all the good options
Yes it does :)
I think he is Swedish
they should make a mkz sport with the new 10 speed that'll be a bad ass car
Beautiful car and great review as usual! How is it compared to the 350HP version when it comes to features? Is the performance significantly better?
Thank you ! If you are referring to the FWD 350HP version I can't really say because I have not driven it, only the AWD 400. I'm sure that the FWD would feel lighter but I honestly would not want a FWD car with 350HP.. it's to much power lol
AutoVlog that is insane stock hp for a fwd car lol definitely alot to the front wheels
Ford wins!
I have a 17 hybrid! It's dope and old people look at me different now. They always ask me about it. Haha
haha, cool!
I am seriously considering buying the 17 MKZ hybrid. Have you had any issues with it?
It sucks that I cant buy that car in Poland... I mean the brand new
@@1973TJM I have a 2017 hybrid with 60k miles on it. Not a single problem with it
Hope to be buying a 2020 hybrid on Labor Day.
I have this car. A lot of surprised looks when passing 'sports cars'.
LINCOLN MKZ 3.0T. - What the Fusion should be. Power. Luxury interior. Sound system, roof, adjustable suspension, drive modes. And you said you liked it!
542 Newton Meters of torgue thats awesome car i love it all the way. Top dream car.
Thank you! And yes you are pretty accurate ;)
Brucelinc I believe maybe 5.6 sec. 0-60.
Car and Driver published their test. 4.8 seconds 0-60 and 13.4 in the quarter. A tiny bit better than my estimate.
Wow - amazing car! It's got everything and then some.
New plan: get my Mustang paid off and grab up one of these bad boys.
A little disappointed they didn't do the 360 camera and thigh cushion extenders like the MKX, but the engine makes this a real contender in the segment.
good review men thank you
