It was a great opportunity to meet up with Erik in Stockholm after having watched all of his amazing videos on his RUclips channel. Hope to see you next time in Lebanon :)
Patrick, could you explain to me and to the rest of the viewers, how is it possible in your case to learn several languages at the same time and how are you able to maintain the knowledge of them? I've seen your multiple language video, from which I've understood you're able to learn at least two languages at the same time (f.ex. Serbian and Romanian). What's your secret giving the fact language learning is time consuming...
I'm not lying, you're one of the most "real" polyglots I've seen on RUclips!! And Yey! I've just released a video in which I try to speak as well as possible 5 languages :0 | I'll love to hear your feedback on this :D
I have been in Sweden in last Summer, it was an amazing experience and i fell in love with the country, especially with Stockholm, but to answer the question, i felt a little uncomfortable sometimes when i was on the metro and i have sat next to a person and suddenly they just walked away, i thought i was stinks or something first, then i have just realised that Swedes are very distant
Hi Erik! Long time viewer, first time commenter. You should really consider doing more videos like this! I've begun learning Swedish over the past year, and this video has actually been the most helpful to me out of all the resources I've come across so far. It's really great, the whole setup you have with the close camera mic, the uninterrupted natural conversation, and the text at the bottom edited for clarity. I've watched it several times now, and I'm finding that it's really helping me understand the finer points of pronunciation and flow in Swedish. Watching your other Swedish videos, Duolingo and reading Swedish articles have all helped me, but this feels like a special treat to get to hear and see the "real thing" instead of a contrived thing that's been put together out of context. Anyway, keep up the good work with your channel in general. Your Swedish videos have been very helpful and a great source of inspiration for me. (they're also very funny and uplifting!) Ta hand om dig :) -Max
Thank you for your detailed comment! I'm very glad you're learning so much! You learn a lot from a conversation and you writing this makes me realize that even more. The next video will have plenty of interviews (although not as uninterruped as this one), look forward to that one coming in February!
hej Erik. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. I think they are very practical and well-thought. for a Hungarian girl looking for fun ways to learn Swedish, your videos are doing the job very well! thanks so much :D would love to see more of these in the future though ✌
Very nice interview....tack så mycket. I try to study Swedish (I studied during Erasmus period in Stockholm several years ago but I forgot a lot) because I love the sound of this language...the sound is very important... I remember the first time I take the underground: "Nästa station Gamla stan"... I start to love swedish listening the voice at the underground.... And when you learn swedish you can understand Norvegian and Dutch as well (maybe Danish, too).
This is a super interesting video and lots of fun to watch. I am a native English speaker, learned Spanish in school for 8 years, and have recently been studying Swedish. I am planning on studying abroad in Madrid and dream of living in Sweden one day. It's great to watch videos like this where you switch between languages and I really appreciate all the annotations on the subtitles. Thanks for making this video!
wow, 13 languages- HE IS A SUPER-HUMAN! I was worked 8 months on some technical project in Sweden (Göteborg) and I learn only one Swedish word- öl (beer). I speak English and German (but not perfect). Before I went to Sweden, peoples say to me: >> If you speak English, if you speak German, then you speak Swedish "automatically".
But I think if you speak German, it is easier to learn Swedish since they share around a 40% of the vocabulary (cognates). they are not mutual intelligible tho
He's not superhuman, he said one of the tricks himself: have as much exposure as possible, pay attention, travel, repeat, etc. I'd add that the more languages you know, the more you can learn because of the language groups: for example: if you speak French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and to some extent, Rmoanian will be easy to learn, Then, if you speak English and German, Swedish is pretty easy, you just have to learn attentively for a month to be good to go, and then, when you speak Swedish, Norwagian and Danish will be easy to learn( except for the soft 'D' in Danish lol)
I want to give special praise to the great care put into the subtitles. They really catch all the colloquialisms and subtleties in meaning - would be great for a learner.
The double captions are so helpful, the Swedish is so much easier to hear when I can read it too. If SVT was as well captioned I might be fluent by now.
It is great how people can talk different languages. When I will go to Stockholm I shouldlike to meet Erik if that is possible. I try to learn swedish with Duolingo. The only thing I am missing is practice with someone.
Bra jobbat.
Thank you for this video, I think that this kind of video is very helpful for understand how a conversation goes in swedish, I really liked it. Nice work, and I hope to see more, you have talent with the cameras :D
Porque me gusta tanto el fútbol sobre todo Boca.....and therein lies the the link to Swedish where I am a beginner. Many others, Danish (with Tomas and friends) Hungarian etc, etc, find languages with different scripts Japanese Arabic Russian fantastic and beautiful. ت♡

Jeg ville si at norsk og svensk er dialekter :) Yo solo hablo cuatro languas fluidamente, pero también aprendí latin y griega antigua - pero eso no vale nada, weil niemand diese Sprachen mehr aktiv spricht. Sie helfen aber damit, europäische Sprachen zu sprechen (I can understand Portuguese for example, because just like Spanish it derives from Latin).

I have a question. In Learn Swedish, Lesson 5 ruclips.net/video/bAn4y3X1TrE/видео.htmlm52s at the end, Erik has a song by Petter called 'Leva & Dö'. I am translating this song's lyrics in English. I need someone's help with this one little part: Just before the chorus, the artist says things like "my air is yours, you are welcome in... etc" Then, I think they say, "Det är bara andas in." does this mean "Just breathe in." or "It's just breathing in." Or something else? Thanks! Edit: here is a link to the full song: ruclips.net/video/p2ygWxzzF0c/видео.html

Erik Edler Thanks Erik! And I do have a question Erik , why does it takes “a lot” of time for you to make a video? , I understand that it takes a time to editing and retaking scenes , just asking I’m not questioning your freedom of making o not video , by the way lots of greeting from Greenland
Thanks for the greetings from Greenland, you're the first, naturally. I don't upload like the youtubers. Even though I often have the idea already clear of what the next video will be about, I record and edit when I feel I'm motivated about it. I'm sure the quality clearly shines through as of that. Anyway, the next video I'll upload in February, so hold on just a little longer.
did he say something about the methods he used to speak Swedish so fluently and to develop his listening ability?? He sounds like if he had been practising Swedish for years with native speakers...
I don't think Mandarin will ever be a lingua franca. English is influential today mostly because of the exportation of British and American pop culture and now internet culture. So unless things change and China wants to open it self up to the world, the Chinese will continue to learn English to do business with the world.
In the video I say you should talk with the Swedes, so your question is definitely motivated. I, however, don't plan on engaging in contacts around the world, other than youtube. I'm sorry!
+Lourenco Marinho The average person can speak 2 or possibly 3 languages, and that's if English isn't their native language. If you know 6 languages then you are well above average.

Laurelindo didn't shoot anyone down or comment in a negative way. I was more surprised. I feel no way in particular about it. You're the one who got defensive on their behalf. Any negative connotation or sentiment comes solely from your own imagination
well, about your prediction of China being the leading economy in 2020.. unfortunately the country ruined it with the wuhan virus. anyway, bravo for mastering so many languages! 😃 29.4.2020

Laurelindo didn't shoot anyone down or comment in a negative way. I was more surprised. I feel no way in particular about it. You're the one who got defensive on their behalf. Any negative connotation or sentiment comes solely from your own imagination
