I remember seeing this at the time - and have never forgotten DLT bopping Gary on the head.

DLT acting like a twat asking Gary Tibbs if the BBC have paid them for the previous year's performance.
Gary was playing in Roxy Music at the time.
And DLT couldn't be arsed to do his research into the Ants as it was all about Adam. He didn't even know who Merrick was at first.
I also remember watching the British Rock And Pop Awards in 1982 (which was the forerunner to the Brit Awards). It was strange to see two Ants collect the awards on behalf of Adam.....what on earth was he doing in the USA?.......probably planning his next move as a solo artist and his band were worried that it could be the beginning of the end of Adam and the Ants.......which was exactly the outcome.
Marco and Terry Lee were also absent that night.
