I actually always have great respect for actors who portray a character that you legit want to punch. Example joffrey and ramsey in GOT. Absolutely lovely in real life. Props to this guy.
My dad had an equally fierce temper. He'd get that very same smoldering look on his face when mom told him what we did!!! That man knew how to USE that belt!!! Dad was fun and really cool most of the time. But he also had the personality of a stern ship captain. He ran his own very successful business. He loved us all, but when we did wrong, he could be cold as steel and hot as a fiery furnace about to explode. But his punishments were always just and fair. He was like a wise old sage. He died way too soon. Fortunately for me, I took after the more "mellow-tempered" people in the family. It is very important to be able to control your temper these days!!! Today's people will just pull a gun of knife and KILL you!!! Attenborough's Santa Claus has the type of temper that is damn hard to control, like a fiery canon exploding. A person with a temper like that wouldn't last very long on TODAY'S streets.
It's one thing to have this drunkard character show up at the store acting all sleazy and ruining the experience for the children, but I was quite surprised by the appalling comments the script has him make to Kris Kringle as he's walking home. I know the intention was to provoke him, but it's a line I never would have expected this movie to cross. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
