- SOLO HEDGE TRIMMING! [Oddly Satisfying]. In today's video I had to prune the hedges around this beautiful home in High Point, NC. The tools I used made the job easier and increased productivity. In years passed my crew members would do this service, but this time is JUST ME! Check out the video, give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed it.

if you're a solo owner/operator what are some tips and tricks that you might use while doing hedge trimming service that make the job easier? Specific tools?
Great job Mitchell!
Thank you so much!
Was contemplating getting a tripod ladder but due to the size of my van, I was restricted to 8ft with a roof rack, giving me a platform of 6ft. Opted for a the Little Giant leveler ladder, fits in my van and extends to a 10ft stepladder or 20ft straight ladder!👍
thanks for sharing!
Nicely done, always enjoy seeing the different POV's!
Thank you!! I need to dial it in for sure. I found the chest mount in my pile of GoPro accessories and figured I would give it a try. Unbeknownst to me it wasn't the best choice for this job. I think I have a head mount, buuuuut gotta find it lol
@@mithgo_outdoor Very welcome!! Always nice when you find something and it spikes an idea like that. Always got to give it a try once and learn from it. Good luck finding the head mount, we know that game too well. Keep up the great work!
What a fantastic property.. Very very nice house.. Great video. 💯💯
Thanks Mark!
That is a lot of work, good job Brother 💪👍👊
Hello HandyGuy, thank you for tuning in to the channel! Yes it's quite a bit. In years passed my crew handled this job, but now that I'm solo it fell on my shoulders. Thanks for your positive feedback! Have a blessed day and Merry Christmas
I think i'm going to invest in that carry barrel transporter next season. Awesome work man, that was a lot of work!
The CBT saves a ton of time no lie. I've used it many times on property cleanups and hedge trimming jobs. Makes life on the solo man so much easier. And also speeds up a multi guy crew. Thank You for tuning in!
Would a tarp be faster ? 8x10. Still lift it and carry double of the barrell
@@ehexzs10 negative...loading a tarp down makes it much tougher on a solo man to lift and dump. Not to mentioned dragging it all over a property and the things it could snag on, been there done that before and not ever again lol. I can load up several barrels at a time a haul boogy back n forth. They’re easy to dump into the trailer.
@@mithgo_outdoor Ok i cab see where on bigger properties u have farther to go to the truck. My properties are smaller. I also pull out the ramps and drag up the tarp or make sure i dont over load it tarp so i can lift it. I may try it out next year with the barrel
Man you did a great job with those brother. I like the front mounted can for making cleanups a bit easier
thanks for your positive feedback buddy!! The CBT is a sweet attachment that's for sure...i highly recommend it!
love those hand trimmers!
Hello Awinters! Thank You for tuning in! Oh yea, can't do this job without them...vital to the fleet!
That looks really good!! Definitely not fun on the tall hedge jobs but you conquered it very well. Live and learn with were to mount the GoPro!! Great Video!!
Definitely need a head mount!
Loved the slow motion shots you had 🙌
Awesome man, actually did that by accident!! hahaha I accidentally hit the slow mo feature on the GoPro before recording. Glad it turned out ok!
Great job Merry Christmas to you and your family 🙏
Thank You for tuning in Harry, Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
Great video mate!! I always underbid shrubs do to not thinking clean up won't take long.
Thanks for tuning in 4Rivers! I have learned to over-estimate on jobs. On solo jobs you can usually count on the cleanup taking you 30-50% of the time it took you to do the job. There are many factors that go in to that though such as the proximity of where you are working to the place you are dumping the debris (dump trailer/wooded area etc).
🐰
Really Good Work. ❤️
Much success and happiness.❤️
Stay safe. ❤️

Thank you for tuning in and your positive feedback!
Looking good man!!
I appreciate that so much, thank you! Have a Merry Christmas
Nice job Mitchell. No need to reply to my comment here but I've been really paying attention to pricing hedges and from what I could see here I would have priced between $380.00 to $420.00.
Last year working part-time a neighbor asked me to do his hedges. But I couldn't with my full-time job. He did let me give him a price however.
Using the same method I did here I priced him at $250.00.
Grimacing the whole time thinking he'd laughed me out of his yard.
Without hesitation he replied,
Can I give you $500 now and you trim them for me twice this year. Wow.
I priced this job at $450 because you can't see all of them from the camera angles AND the owner didn't let me trim them in the spring. Usually I would've charged $350-375 for this service because it didn't take me but 3.5 hours, but since they weren't trimmed in the spring I upped the cost. You're right on the money with your estimated price of this job. You can get away with charging a little less for a neighbor because you don't have the cost associated with traveling to a job site. In my own neighborhood I'm usually 10-15% lower than anywhere else because I am in the truck for like 3 seconds lol. Doing a neighborhood discount also allowed me to land 23 new accounts in just 2 years.
Nice work!!
Hello Chris, thank you for tuning in! I greatly appreciate the kind words...have a blessed evening!
Great video
thank you Logan, hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
‘not a fan of that many HIGH bushes against houses ! 😲😲 but you’ve done a very nice job ! 👍🏽👍🏽
I feel the same way 100%! I wanted to do more at this property, but it wasn’t in their budget. Thank you for tuning in
Dislike Holly trees immensely, not in my yard. To picky! Ouch! $_-&_$':&&$@$😳
@@billrobbins5874 haha...yea i have a love/hate relationship with them
Looks good .
thank you
Nice work my friend. Hey what ladder do you use ?
Thanks...it’s made by Hasegawa
How do u like your Wright mowers? I’ve never seen that system ur using with the mower. Can that fit any can or is it specific
What's up Johnny, thanks for tuning in man. I love my Wright standers for sure. The DBT by D'ttach Mfg is a sweet attachment. I use it on almost every property cleanup/hedge trimming service. It's made for the 60 gal green barrels but if i'm not mistaken you can get one of those Rubbermaid trash cans in it. I've never tried, so don't hold me to it.
Nice video man! Does something like that go for around $350-$500 around you?
Hey Aiden, yea man just depends on the height you go with of course. Mine is 10ft and was $300+.
great job sir
Thank you John !
Nice work 💪🏾How tall is that ladder ? How much it cost you ?
Mine is 10ft. Most of the Hasegawa ladders are $300+. Check Hasegawa’s webpage for the dealer near you.
I say that you had your work cut out for you lol . I've never done hedge,s that big before at least you follow,ed the shape of them those Hollie are a pain hand because of the little stickers on them love the front mount debris can see you later young man and your family
Hello Robert, thank you for tuning in again! The hollies are some of the more difficult trees I prune. They get to be so tall that sometimes it's very difficult to get the tops. Double that up with they stick you badly when you try to clean up haha. Have a great evening !
@@mithgo_outdoor thanks for your reply young man and your family I have saw a Hollie tree
Hey buddy where did you get that fancy ladder?
Harry, it is made by Hasegawa and if you'll go to their website you can find a dealer close to you. I bought mine at a local dealer, Sedgefield Outdoor in Greensboro NC
Where did you get those green containers from bro?
Ordered from Home Dept online
Got nervous when you was on that ladder...I hate heights
haha ahh come on man, it ain't that bad! The Hasegawa tripod ladder makes the job so much safer! thanks for tuning in buddy
Nice ladder, how many feet is it?
10ft
Just wondering how much did you charge hints curious because I had a job like this maybe a bit smaller and I think I under priced myself
Hello Damian, thanks for tuning in. Normally this service would be $375 but since the homeowner let them get overgrown I charged $450.
Goodjob
Thank You
How does the 94 feel power wise for hedge trimming?
Hello William, thank you for tuning in. The 94R has plenty of power to run the hedge trimmer all day long. No issues of it bogging down.
@@mithgo_outdoor what model 94 is it? Is it a kombi?
@@williamferem5360 yes it is the KM94R
Also what handheld hedge trimmer is that
it's the Stihl HS56
Nice work. I like the ladder. Could you provide info on the brand? I would like to pick one up. I strongly believe everyone has their own techniques and one is not necessarily better than another. It’s whatever works for each person and gets the job done with quality being the goal. Quality work turns into more and more work. For me personally, on jobs like that, I use a Stihl 131 kombi with hedge trimmer attachment and extension for tall stuff. Yes, I know the extension can fatigue you but it keeps your feet on the ground. I would use my Stihl blower to move the trimmings to the yard and picked them up with my Kubota mower and bagger. Again, my method is not better...it’s just my method based on my experience and my equipment. In upstate SC, I would have charged $300 if it was a one time deal. If it was a customer who’s yard I cut all season, $225 at most.
Happy off season!!!
hello Greg, thank you and thanks for tuning in to the channel! The ladder is made by Hasegawa Global. On their website they have a dealer locator tool to help you find the closest one. Thanks for your feedback!

thanks for tuning in Gary, hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas 🎄
My friend.
Appreciate you 👊🏼🧔🇺🇸
Look better if the tall trees were gone
Yes I agree
why do rich people spending the time purchasing expensive windows for their houses and then plant trees which cover the windows. tall trees in front of windows. good job.
Blows my mind!
